Breakfast Topic: Where's your hearthstone?
Well duh, it's in your bags, of course. But more importantly: where's it set? We've covered this one before, but that was before we had a whole other continent full of inns and towns to bind ourselves to. While I used to be bound to Grom'Gol, I went ahead and switched my stone to Thrallmar (right across from Honor Hold for you Alliance) for easy access, as well as a quick exit back into Outland after I finish training (since there's no trainers in Outland).
But as soon as I hit 62 or so, I figure I'll have outgrown the good ol' HP (Hellfire Peninsula, to those of you still in Azeroth). So where to? If you've made your way into the mid 60s, where's your stone set? And if you beta players have insights for us too, have at it.
[ Thanks, Tim, for the suggestion! ]

My BC just arrived. But I was glued to Stonard. Not sure why, just seemed easy acess to BRS for raids etc. I think I'll set it to Thunderbluff next so i can HS back to train new skills.
When I was leveling I used to have it closest to where I was questing...

As a Druid I got the luck I can teleport to moonglade for trainig or the occasional AH visit.
So basicly I set my HS to the place I do my questing at that time.
My guildies will set their HS to Shattrath. The portals there in the centre room will let them port to any city in the homeland.

Easy : Shattrath.
Why? Portals to everywhere else!
This is on my main, warrior. Might be a different story on my mage if I get a portal TO Shattrath.... Then.... I don't know....

For the past year my Hearth stone has been set to one place, Stormwind. I do this because it is a very fast way to return to the AH, Vendors I have the best reputation with, skill trainers, bank, etc.
My mate is of a different opinion and keeps his set to the area he has the most quest turn ins for, so he can quickly return to turn in and move along.

my hearthstone was set to menethil harbour. short flight to Ironforge, quick both ride to kalimidor.
now its set to Honor Hold. havent been to the outland city yet.

Mine's in Thrallmar also. being a mage, i have no need to set it in a major city, and all my quests are still in HP.

I'm now set to Shattrath, but I'm going to change it to Honor Hold until I clean up my quest log a bit. It's nice having the jump points from Shattrath to the major cities so we don't have to manage the hike as much.

Did they add a place to get rested XP in shattrath? It wasnt there in the beta, but I hadnt played the beta since early dec.
Im putting mine in whatever area I quest in. I have most of the flight paths, and I use my hearth more than once a level. Finish up a dozen quests, hearth, turn in, sell, go back out. Its a short flight to shattrath, then teleport to train, and hearth back and go straight back into whatever I was doing.

steps for easy travel.
1. zone into Outlands, get HH FP and make it your home.
2. run to terrokar forest, get alleran stronghold FP.
3. get Shatt FP(what a bad abbr. that is going to be. Where you headed to? "I'm going to shat" They might as well have called is shart or clownpenis.)
4. Profit.
Need training? fly to shatt, free portal to IF/OGR/anywhere. do your AHing train etc, and then hearth back. Move your hearth when you get to a new zone, and you'll always be able to fly to shatt city.

Shattrath. Portals to everywhere make it very...um...'hublike'. In addition, the soft cellular humming of the talking symbol sounds super cool.

Zangarmarsh as of last night.
Mage = No capital city hearthing FTW!

I'm still working Hellfire as a Mage, but I've already got the portals to Shattrath and the Exodar. I'm trying to level up Jewelcrafting and I need to mine the low level stuff again, so i figure once I'm done with Hellfire I'll stick my stone closest to whatever minerals I'm mining. That way I can jump there and mine for a while, port to Exodar and skill up, then port back to Shattrath.
That was one big factor in deciding to play my Mage in the BC, the portability. One downside though: constant begging for portals to IF in Honor Hold.

Shattrath has inns and banks, they are controlled by two opposing factions. You have to pick one, you can get rep rewards from them, but you'll become an enemy to the other.

Stormwind. Quick flight to the Dark Portal. I spend the evening questing and grinding, then at the end of the night Hearth back to Stormwind. Dump vendor trash, stash stuff in the Bank, put of loot on AH, scan the AH for mats, go see trainer, and logout.
Wash, rinse, repeat the next day. It makes wrapping up the evening very fast being able to Hearth right to a bank and AH while being a short flight back to Outlands.

I'm set to Shattrath with my 60 - it may be a long flight to areas in Outland, but it's very convenient to have access to portals to all the cities in Azeroth. My BE's hearth follows to whatever quest hub I'm at.
Tim Engelbart Jan 19th 2007 11:01AM
When I'm mid-60? Shattrath of course. Has portals to the major cities and is the only "real" city within Outland.
Afroloop Jan 19th 2007 11:17AM
I'm set to Honor Hold but hope to be out of there soon and into an area that is not so camped out. I went to a new area and found a town but I think you need to be L62 or 63 for them to give you quests so I had to go back to HH and finish up some stuff.
Shat Jan 19th 2007 11:15AM
Crossroads. For some reason the lowbie ally on my server keep throwing themselves at it, and it's quite fun camping them.
Guernia Jan 19th 2007 11:53AM
I haven't taken my main into Outlands yet, so his hearthstone is still set in Kargath, for easy right-hand continent access (also BRM instances).
Most of my other high level characters are stoned in Orgrimmar.
Kang Jan 19th 2007 12:16PM
I'm 61 and I set my hearth to the Cenarion Refuge. I'm doing Zang quests for the moment until I ding 62, then I'll train all those shiny new spells and go back to HFP and kick everything's butts.
