Realm cultures

Realms in World of Warcraft are supposed to be like different, although identical, worlds. You choose one and live under its rules, and if you want to live in a different world, you have to put in a lot of work to get there. But quick glance at the WoW Realm Forums shows that each server might better be described as its own little high school.
Realms have nicknames, whether they be good ("TichOWNdrius") or bad ("Argent Down," "Lagging Skull.") They have celebrities both famous for their exploits (Death and Taxes on Korgath, Sebudai on Doomhammer) or infamous for screwing up (Overrated on Black Dragonflight, Avatar on many servers but originally Warsong.) They have private dramas and screrenshots that will be funny only to residents of that realm.
Servers are known for different things: Argent Dawn has good roleplaying (and entertaining Goldshire cyber stories), Mal'Ganis has innovative world PvP, and Black Dragonflight and Korgath have some top raiding guilds. Some servers have rivalries -- Arthas and Mal'Ganis have been sniping at each other about server population since transfers opened up, denizens of Blackrock regularly invade RP servers when Blackrock itself goes down, and informal competitions develop within battlegroups. And a couple servers even have official mottoes. The two I can remember right now is "Tichondrius is not for you" and "Mal'Ganis KICKS!"
My server, Magtheridon, was released shortly after launch. Our only celebrity is Xzin, we don't have any earth-shattering guilds, and we're not the best at PvP. People talk a lot about the "Magtheridon way," which as far as I can tell involves Alliance outnumbering Horde and liberal use of the server's unofficial motto, which is three words long, begins with "go" and ends with "yourself." Still, it's a nice place in spite of the lag, and I wouldn't want to transfer anywhere else.
What's the culture of your server? Is it populated or quiet, dramalicious or kind, vicious to outsiders or welcoming to new players?

On my server, Elune, we have a saying, "Elune, we know drama".
Mainly for the random things you probably could find on any server, but about 6-7 months ago, we had an "outing" of sorts of one of the members of our server.
This person was acting as a 15yo female from Arkansas. Known for their less-than-welcoming manner, my guild leader did some prying and provided proof this "child" was actually a 40 something male.
Oh, yeah, we had fun with that. Our realm troll harrassed him as much as he tried to deny it. And, by deny, I mean pointing out all the character flaws of the other people in the thread (such as my guild leader being a "heathen" bc he typed 'xtian') and proceeded to ramble on about how great he was. He tried to say that he bought the acct and that he wasn't "Tiffany/Karen".
We all had a good laugh at his expense.

I play Horde on Garona which basically boils down to:
- 5:1 Alliance to Horde ratio (pre-BC Blood Elf zerg, mind you)
- The more immature and vociferous Horde players constantly complaining about this statistic, chalking it it up to all of our server's woes
- The Alliance scratching their heads and saying "I don't see what the problem is." As they tag every bleedin' mob required for a quest in the Outlands.
Other than that we haven't got much drama.. Playing Horde, you really start to feel that the server is sort of in the boondocks - Kel has yet to be downed, and we have a single guild that has downed C'thun.. I think
I'm just depressing myself now. :P

...Leeroy
I hate that man.

Undermine - it sucks. Low population and not very friendly...seems pretty boring and lifeless.

Draenor has no good celebs.
Pretty even spit.
Pretty boring server. I like it that way.

Ummm hows about the Penny Arcade Alliance on Dark Iron?
For my knowledge no other guild (or collection thereof) has waged such public warfare as the Penny Arcade vs. PvP Online wars of a year ago. And i certainly haven't heard of any organization WTFpwning the server with their simultaneous city raiding as we recently accomplished.
Beyond those accomplishments Alliance players will find that Dark Iron has a broad scope of play styles and a large chunk of guildmates who abide by the Don't be a dick" rules of the PAA.

Shadow Council - we used to have Packhunter.

Welcome to Drama'thalas.
We're pretty boring, really.

We have a guild called OoTa on Venture Co. They are alliance and hated by everyone alliance and horde alike. I stood next to them to take some screenshots. A guild mate saw me and started spam PM'ing me to get away from then. In the past anyone who works with OoTa has been outed like them. People have been kicked from guilds because they are working along side of OoTa. Its a first time ive ever seen anything like that.

skullcrusher > all, and we're not too shy to tell anyone that.

I'm on Kargath.
I don't know of many "celebrities" nor anything specific to our culture of that realm. I'm not one to pay attention to that sort of thing, I just know there is one Alliance guild that I don't like (Digital Sickness) and it seems that all of the Alliance hates Paradosi a.k.a. Dosi, (horde guild) for reasons that I'm not aware.

Haha! I remember Packhunter. Maybe not something great to be famous for.
As a Shadow Council guy, I am often disappointed by the lack of RP on the RP server. I don't expect a ton, but there is almost none. I would love to know what server out of the huge pile, has the best and most committed RP.
Any advice there?

I play on frostwolf - we have Shadows of the Horde, who did the first 9-man Ony.
Buuut.
More importantly, we were the original home of Jeremy and Kyle.
"BlackRock Mountain, Frostwolf."
Yeah, then they transferred, along with our good Alliance guilds, to Frostmane. Crashwolf, indeed.

Skywall has a psedu-celebrity.
Ghettomagic is known by everyone on the server, and is on the ignore list of most. He fits the description of annoying high school kid to a T.
Tom Jan 23rd 2007 2:53PM
Duskwood. Formerly known for its many gold farmers, now known for many promising guild leaders who dumped their guilds into the hands of noncommittal teenagers to take a free server transfer. *sigh*
Im beginning to hate trying to get to 60 Jan 23rd 2007 3:05PM
Azgalor, home of the first High-Warlord, Dozi.

Cenarion Circle: Where guilds go to die.
Most heavy raiding guilds on our server (pre BC) had broken up or were dying. Unwanted Prophecy, our biggie, died over Hunter loot of all things. Northrend Commonwealth was a great guild and a part of an excellent raid alliance, but now it's more like one big pick-up group. And poor Heaven's Fury is on life support.

Agamaggan
The server was officially renamed "Tim" after numerous posts on how to correctly pronounce and say the server name.
Although I still affectionately call it "Agamaggarammalammadingdong"
