Around Azeroth: Remembering Ragnaros

I remember my first trips to Molten Core, those very first attempts at downing Ragnaros, the thrill of a first kill, and the cheers on Ventrillo when we managed to down him pre-Sons (a feat for which we were promised extra DKP at the time). But before any of us reach raiding success, there's an endless stream of frustrating wipes (practice does make perfect, after all), such as this one, sent in by Brixie of Prelude to Chaos on Guldan. Not that I miss the wipes, but I do feel sort of sorry for people leveling to 60 after the release of the Burning Crusade. Will they ever run Molten Core and challenge Ragnaros?

I always found the very first 2 instances the most fun.
I'll definitly continue trying to get a group for the ol' lady or mr. lava himself

since BC came out, i've found myself in the smaller pre BC dungeons and raids more often. Mostly trying to help out guild members or friends.
Still gain xp (at 63) when you kill in scholo, strat or UBRS. (havne't done an lbrs run in awhile). You still get xp in MC, ZG, AQ. So going back and clearing them (and sometimes the occasional quest you've refused to drop). At lvl63 finishing the quest line for scholo's trinket to see undead gave me 9300xp.. not bad really.. and it helps friends out

I am sorry Elizabeth, but your posts have really begun to stink. You post so much garbage that I can no longer even consider viewing this website. Please find something new and fresh instead of just rehashing old, outdated trash.

I guess it also depends on what progression level you join a raiding guild at and get your first kills; for me, Rag was never a big deal because I joined a guild that had him on farm so aside from my own little personal "nice!!", nobody cared.
My first time kill that was also my guild's first time kill was Vael in BWL; we wiped for a solid 3 weeks before getting it, fine-tuned the strategy and people were educating themselves to get their role right.
Hearts pounding, yelling with glee over vent, and that awesome satisfying feeling.

@3 This is a topic dear to me! I have never run a 40 man let alone a 20 man instance and I wonder if I ever will run something so enticing! I will try to find a guild or group that will run MC a few times when I get to 60. But not all of us have been playing for a year or two (or more) and I don't want the mysteries of MC to die with the new expansion just because everyone is moving on to more stuff at 60+
Ignore him Elizabeth.

I think that once the mad-rush to 70 cools people will go back, but it won't be full 40 mans and there'll be a lot of 70s in the party.
I've only been 60 for about a month now. I'm more interested in quests and content than fat lewtz, but I can't find a scholo or strat group to save my life. I'm glad I got to do MC before BC came out, and I hope I'll get to do BWL and on soon.

I'm enjoying the new content and yeah now that the Age of the 40 Man has come to an end I think I'll miss it. I wanted to finish a complete set of somethin and now I'm so 'skittle' piece meal it isn't even funny. Blackwing Lair and perhaps Naxx may still offer some fun for those that haven't been but once you go it won't be a steady raid night event as you'll probably not need the gear.
What I want to know is with players reaching lvl 70 on the day of release or mere days after what content is the future of end game content? Is it a re-roll? Hitting 70 and taking a break til the next expansion? Or will the new 25 mans be enough to carry a guild over and over each week? Will large guilds splinter as groups become clique oriented in smaller teams?
So much going on it really challenges the known MMO dynamic and we'll all get to see what comes out the otherside.

@3 thats a bit harsh, i too find her articles interesting. I suggest you go elsewhere.
Kahja Jan 24th 2007 12:05PM
@3
Did that make you feel like a big man?
Kahja Jan 24th 2007 12:15PM
I got double DKP when we did it before the sons. Good times to be had in MC.
I know I'm going to be going back and just having fun in the old stomping grounds. Solo some places just for kicks. (and higher level enchanting mats)
I wish there was new content pre-outlands though, other the start zones for the new races.
Wartoad Jan 24th 2007 1:13PM
@3 Adios, biznitch. You won't be missed.

#3:
I can see where you're coming from; the topics here are starting to get a little repetitive.
However, I think your decision to stop reading should take a very important question into consideration: Is Elizabeth hot? If so, I think I could be a little more forgiving of the quality of the articles. Sooner or later, she might pose in a scantily-clad NE/BE costume and post pictures. You'd miss them if you'd have given up on her.
Sincerely,
Sexist Pig

@#3 - good riddance.

@3 - Thanks for your comments. Maybe you should start sumbitting articles? I'm sure they would be the greatest ever, far better then this dribble...
Oh and then how about a /ignore Comadose.
Sorry this blog troll got in here Elizabeth. We'll send in our rogues to gank him soon...

I am on my first character and in a guild of all first-time players and we all have BC, but have decided to run all the original instances first.
Rag is mine!

I think people will do the old stuff just for the novelty affect, and I know several guilds that intend to do naxx at 70 and gear up quickly in t3, then go on to the level 70 raids. I'm not sure if they will still intend to do this but that depends on level 69 blues and such. Anyways, the main reason I posted this comment was to show this beauty, don't know who did it but they are amazing:

@16 Hey, what server are you from? can I join? Sounds like a great idea!
tobin92 Jan 25th 2007 8:40PM
Rag will indeed be run....But it will be easy. With many guild members at 70, Rag should be extremely easy and nice for gear.

Comadose needs a bitchslap and maybe an ip ban. That was utterly uncalled for.
I have fond memories of Ragnaros too, and found this article interesting enough to leave a comment. I regret that they won't be upgrading the old content with something more interesting.
I had thought it would be cool if they instituted heroic mode for MC, or perhaps built a new dungeon off of the old one, where Ragnaros flees to more terrible depths and you're forced to pursue him into the molten earth to try to finish him off. They could put in even greater monsters below, unthinking titans of magma and steel that defend Ragnaros as he flees.
I mean, we killed off his executive staff, but that doesn't mean his whole army was sitting around the upper caverns. Defeat doesn't always have to mean death. Sometimes it just means dropping your stuff and running like hell. Rags is supposed to be smart, and it's stupid to fight to the death when you can dive, dive, dive!
