You guyz should all know that a gnome rogue can own any class 1on1 pvp due to:
!. Size
2. Escape artist so they r never trapped
3. agility and dodge is pretty high
So make up your mind and choose it...

Druids are #1 in pvp in my opinion. Only because they own.

I personally think that RET Pallys aren't that great but if you think about it a Pally fully geared with Tier 6 or 7 is so hard to beat even if you got a high DPS they can still Bubble or Heal its like the perfect combo (Priest+Warrior) with they strong Buffs and Heals and with the capability to just DPS or Tank they can just own at PvP or PvE i've been playing Paladin for about 1 year (mostly at private servers, bought the retail 2 month ago got lvl 62 Prot Pally ) and i must say that it's the best class i ever experienced and i basicaly played every class on the game (didn't played Priest or Warlock)
So Do Yourselves A Favor Go Paladin !

I may be a little biased here but I strongly feel that well geared, SMART Paladins will be one of the better PvP classes at level 70.

I have no faith in Paladin abilities. Most of the time when i face off with a pally what tends to happen is i beat the pally down to within an inch of his life, he does the predictable sheild/heal/remove all dots, at which point the battle begins again and its anyones ball game, as I am now drained of half my mana and waiting on cooldowns.
About a month ago, when my warlock was still lvl 58, i faced off against a pally at a tower in EPL. He was wearing tier 2 gear, and my gear consisted of greens, and the pally just barely won that one.
I don't dispute that a well played pally may be a challenge, i just don't see them as a threat.
I'd say the classes to look out for are the classics, warlocks, hunters, and rogues.

Druids are the new kings of 1v1 PvP, follow closely by the constant PvP beasts that are Warlocks.
Well-played Paladins can be VERY viscious, especially now that the last few Pally's I've faced off against crit often, and hit like a truck! Any 2v2 or 3v3 team with a good Pally will cause problems as well.
Obviously any well-played class is going to be tough, however, I have a strong feeling that Warlock/Druid/Pally combinations will be near the top of the 2v2 and 3v3 Arena ladder.

I guarantee you an AVERAGE-geared warrior is not going to be worth worrying about in PvP.

Rogues will be the bane of my warlocky life. I dueled a rogue, A guildy friend of mine. he was 65, and I was 68, and we were wating on his named to spawn.
he stealthed, I put my back to the wall. he still managed to cheap shot me, and mutilated me. he got 1400s with both hands. then he mutilated me again. he used 0 cooldowns. 0 special prep. nothing. he basically two shotted a warlock with 6500 health. I didnt get out of stuns long enough to insta fear bomb.
I wanna tear up arenas with him in a few weeks.
So sorry Jan 26th 2007 3:59PM
Uh.. you couldn't death coil him in 6 seconds? CS+Mutilate is literally all of his energy, it takes 6 seconds for him to build up enough energy for another mutilate. I doubt he'll want to run arenas with you if you can't figure that one out.

Hi! IM a hunter and I will be pwning your face today. Please bring your own tissues. All cries for nerfing should be directed to the WoW General forums. Have a great day and thank you for flying Hunters>You Airlines!

When it comes to what is the dominant class, there are always exceptions due to the fact that this game requires a tad more skill than just knowing your abilities or talents.
But in general, I think classes that can both heal and deal DPS are the ones that are predominant.
Warlock/shadow priest/Druid/Paladin/Shaman.
I think I've read either here or on the forums that it wasn't blizzard's intention to make the classes balanced 1v1, and that each one had an intention to play a roll of some sort (so group mechanics are more important versus single PvP class faceoffs).
Should that be the case? It's quite tough to say since there are many class specific factors to think about. Should a mage be able to kite a warrior till he dies? Should DoT classes be able to kill there opponents with 200 pt. ticks even after they've died? Should hybrids be able to outDPS their purebred counterparts?
Matt Jan 26th 2007 3:38PM
I personally think mages will rock hard.
Prauche Jan 26th 2007 3:24PM
Nerf Locks.
John Shu Jan 26th 2007 4:26PM
Rogues are a very Heavy 1v1 Class in the Game. For Group PvP, IMO - the Warrior will always be #1 for the fact that.. they can output as much or more DPS then every other class and they have high survivability with high Stamina + Armor.
*Assuming they are Healbotted by a skilled Paladin (or two :P).

Believe it or not, destruction-specced locks are going to be absolute death dealers at 70. They have so many more opportunities for instant casts, and the sheer amount of burst damage (!) a destro-spec can generate makes Seed of Corruption an actual viable spell. It'll be interesting to see the sort of chain reaction kills that destro locks can pull off.
Tolento Jan 26th 2007 3:55PM
Whatever you guys do, keep moving. Don't stand still because when you do, you're gonna be some rogue's supper.
Rezza Jan 26th 2007 4:08PM
The posts above indicate that most classes can be competitive. IMO Blizzard has balanced end game pvp better than most people think. Warriors in average gera suck but warriors in good gear can be awesome... I've seen the arena videos.
Mike Schramm Jan 26th 2007 4:12PM
I'm not sure about "best" class for PVP, but I do know that my PVP specced undead rogue is funnnn to play. They're just plain evil.
umamasyean Jan 26th 2007 4:17PM
Since mages have the best crowd control, I think this will make a pretty good gladiator as this makes huge difference in small team battles. Maybe not against druids but the healers will be #1 on aggro list so they might die first anyway.
You know how blizzard is tho, whatever class/skill sceews the match...will be nerfed in the next patch. So I wouldn't start leveling up your alt just because you think it's good now because it might not be by the time you're 70. I have a feeling the break poly trinkets will have a cooldown of 15 seconds soon. :P

#1: "Most of the time when i face off with a pally what tends to happen is i beat the pally down to within an inch of his life, he does the predictable sheild/heal/remove all dots, at which point the battle begins again and its anyones ball game, as I am now drained of half my mana and waiting on cooldowns."
Lol That's called him winning.
Anyway, it's clear that Hunters and Warlocks are being hit with the circumstantial Itemization Nerf Bat. The new game is going to be big big hit points but not much bigger damage, and with additional damage reductions in locks, and Hunter damage not scaling up the same as other classes, we're going to be seeing MUCH longer fights. Long fights are won by healers.
