UI Special: Fleur's interface

We've been asking you guys to send in your UIs, so I think it's only fair that I post mine.
Character Name: Fleur
Screen Size: 1440x900
General Theme: Minimal, informative, and attractive. I need to see what I need to see, but I want it to take up as little space as possible. And it's gotta look good doing it.
AddOns Used: Too many to list; see below for a partial listing.
Elizabeth W. asked me recently what a good UI was that would go well with ArcHUD; well, here's one! Click the image above if you want a larger view. From top to bottom, you see: FuBar, CT_BuffMod, Recap (minimized, showing my modest DPS of 271.1), MonkeyQuest (minimized), Scrolling Combat Text (that's where the "-155" and "Miss" are from), ArcHUD, and Bongo Bars. Cooldown counts on my Bongo buttons are provided courtesy of OmniCC (I think). I've done away with every piece of Blizz's UI except the minimap and tooltips. Spell damage on buttons provided by TheoryCraft.
There's a few things going on that aren't visible, or at least not obvious, in that shot. I use ClearFont, TBag (which got updated! yay!), AutoProfit (because GarbageFu still won't work for me), ItemRack, Fishing Buddy, CT_RA, Grid in raids, Atlas, and WoWEcon, to name some important ones.
My UI is always evolving, but my basic layout has stayed the same for quite a while. I used to use FlexBars, and still will if they ever get updated. Still, I have to say I'm enjoying Bongos' simplicity of configuration. I'm not quite sure about CT_BuffMod; it seems to take up a bit more space than the default buff display without much gain (beyond sorting). On the other hand, it is pretty.
So what do you think? Love it, hate it, or have suggestions for better mods than mine, I want to hear it. And don't forget to send in your own UIs (screenshot, character name, screen size, general theme, AddOns used, and a blurb) to readerui at gmail dot com.

That's nice and all, but I really think you could clean up that map a lot. Try simpleminimap and detachedminibuttons. I'd also get mobhealth3 so that instead of seeing xx/100 for mobs hp's, it quickly calculates their hp from your dps. Lastly I'd say swap out the hud graphics or change to a different, cleaner hud (dhud), center the buttons, and change to the blizz combat text. I like that chat though, I use prat, and it can do similar things, I'd just put the chat buttons on mouseover.
But it's your ui, do what you want! :P

what kind of video card do you have?
Eliah Hecht Jan 29th 2007 9:47PM
For whatever reason, the minimap buttons don't bother me much. I never use them, so in theory I should get rid of them, though; good call. As far as HUD goes, this is just a matter of opinion, I gather; to me, ArcHUD looks better than DHUD. I've tried them all. For combat text, I really cannot imagine why you would prefer Blizz's over SCT. It reports less, it's less configurable, and it doesn't look as good. I don't mean to be hostile, but this one just flummoxes me.
My video card is the one built into my MacBook Pro, an ATI Radeon X1600 with 256 MB of VRAM. It seems to run WoW just fine.

i run wow mod-less and i've never seemed to havea problem. although looking at SCT seems to be aloth smoother than the wow version. and i might give the coords thing a go since whenever i ask about something on general they tell me coords. what mod is it? CT probably?

Wow. I'm amazed that you could use that UI. I don't know, i guess I just go for a completely different theme with mine. The fact that you have almost nothing on your screen would bother the hell out of me. I think I'm going to submit my UI just to show the difference. My theme:All the info I could ever want displayed in front of me without too much clutter.
Dave Jan 29th 2007 11:22PM
Oh, also...I used to use SCT but since Blizzard incorporated their own albeit less customizable version, I use the default simply because using Blizzard UI functions reduces lag.

@1: Does mobhealth3 still work in the BC? It hasn't been updated since August.
jellywerker Jan 30th 2007 12:00AM
@ #7 it works for me, I believe I got mine from the wowace website.
@ #3 You are very right on it being just a matter of opinion. To me, archhud seems to curl around your character too much, especially when you are at a camera distance close to what that screenshot shows. The text it adds is also kinda of spaced out and cluttery looking (new word!) As for using blizzards ct, as #6 said, it reduces ui lag. Of course if your pc is a beast, this doesn't matter. I think that it displays all the info I need (dmg, auras cast and faded, healed, +mana, seems all I use), so I use it, if sct works better for you, use it, like I said, it's your ui!

Hello
I was wondering what UI u sugest for a warrior and what s like the best UI, And Where do I get them.
Thanks
Eliah Hecht Jan 30th 2007 12:42AM
The coordinates are coming from LocationFu, a plugin to FuBar.
ZheKing:I pretty much recommend that everybody piece together their own UI, since I have yet to find a package that looks halfway decent to me (except Mazzlefizz's, but that's not working right now v_v).
The major sites are www.wowinterface.com, http://ui.worldofwar.net, and http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/addons. If you're looking for general info on mods, may I suggest (*cough*) http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/01/11/addons-for-the-complete-noob/?

You forget wowinterface and wowace, both are excellent sources of mods and information.
Eliah Hecht Jan 30th 2007 2:03AM
I didn't forget wowinterface; it is there, just not linked (http://www.wowinterface.com) because there's a max of 3 links per comment. I did forget wowace :) (http://www.wowace.com)

Your interface is sure nice and all Fleur, but aren't you a Priest ? No addons for group or raid ? must be the TBC effect ^^
I am always a bit disapointed when a healing class posts his UI screenshot un-grouped ^^
Dave Jan 30th 2007 7:27AM
You still left out curse which to me is the most complete addon site. I always go to curse first and wowinterface/wowace second.
Randomdruid Jan 30th 2007 8:24AM
Can anybody suggest a mod that will give me more spells in an on screen bar with some kind of keyboard shortcuts tied to them? The 1234567890-= keys just aren't cutting it anymore.
Kabira-Fenris Jan 30th 2007 8:57AM
@4 - the CT Mapmod, which I believe is incuded in CT Core but I'm not sure since, will give coords of your toon and your cursor on the map, as well as let you make location notes and send them to other players who have the mod. As #10 said, coords are available through other mods as well.
Heyasuki Jan 30th 2007 8:49AM
I'll send in a pick of my UI tonigth once I get home :) I use about 40 mods (used to be closer to 200 but I have cut out a lot of the crap) Right now I use a variation of Oki's mod from curse gaming with a few things of my own.
One mod I miss that no longer functions is AutoRogue for the truly lazy rogue :P besically it would spam feint anytime I did a certin amount of damage, it has other uses but I used it only for this.
Darkethereal Jan 30th 2007 9:12AM
@14: No, he didn't. Curse is in comment #10 and linked... O.o
Thomas Jan 30th 2007 9:12AM
RandomDruid - I use Trinity Buttons myself. 120 total buttons you can modify as you wish and even create your own keyboard shortcuts for utlizing shift, ctrl, alt, and singular keys. It also displays cooldowns, modifiable bars that can be rounded, buttons that are changeable, and the ability to create as many bars as you want (all within the 120 max buttons limit). You can even make certain bars highlight only during combat or when moused over, further opening up your viewscreen. Trinity totally replaces all Blizzard bars - spellcast, XP (Trinity has an optional Trinity XP bar that attaches to your character portrait), pet bar, stances, bags, everything is controlled via Trinity.
Heck, that sounded like a sales pitch. :(

Awesome thanks Thomas.
