Breakfast Topic: See you when you're 70?

Not too long ago, it seemed like it would take me forever to get to 70. There were so many new zones, so many quests -- how could I blow through that so quickly? Now, as I approach the end of level 66, it's beginning to look like time to make plans for 70.
Like nearly everyone, the first thing I'm going to do is head over to Shadowmoon Valley and buy my flying mount. I don't have enough money for my epic immediately. In fact, the only epic mount I've seen so far belongs to a hunter in my guild who bought it immediately upon turning 70. We all assumed he had sold little Draenei children into slavery or something to pay for it. After that, I have a couple of goals for life after 70:
- Do all the quests I didn't get done while leveling, for money, rep, and having fun.
- Along those lines, do all the PVP quests that I skipped.
- Get revered with all the factions I can get revered with, so I can get more alchemy recipes.
- Get fishing and cooking to 375.
- Run heroic mode instances to get some decent gear so I can respec to daggers, and also to get attuned to Mount Hyjal.
I'm not in too big of a hurry to get back to the raiding grind. What are your goals for level 70, and what will you do to reach them?

Its like i wrote this article O.o!
I totally got the same future goals as you.
Same class, same level even, same proffesion.. same idea about getting recipes especially the transmute ones.. doing the pvp I didnt do while leveling.. do some fun quests that I skipped. Get fishing and cooking to 375, same O.o..
The only difference is that im already dagger (mutilate build, rules).. so no need to respec.
That was rather unbelievable close to my own future plans

I am surprised at the speed of the lvl grind. Seemed like it took forever to go from 50 to 60. But I have maybe 15 hours played since the expansion came out and I am already 63.5. Seemed like it took 20 hours to go from 59 to 60. Though I am not sure one this, and maybe the wait seemed longer since I was pushing for a goal. Right now, I am not pushing for anything, I am taking my time in outland and enjoying it. I am still questing in Zangarmarsh, and I just recently replaced my last piece of pre-expansion gear (exclduing my trinket, i'll probably never part with the ability to summon a free voidwalker).
I'm just going to keep questing till I hit 70 and ultimately save enough money for one of those fancy epic flying mounts. Then I might take a break and start lvling the 8 alts I started just to check out other classes and professions.

I just reached 66 last night. I quickly headed to Nagrand and did the Ring of Blood quest series to get my Staff of Beasts(http://thottbot.com/?i=57705). Doing this got me up to 192k into 66, as well as around 100g. I am hoping to get to atleast 68 or if not 67 by the end of this weekend. Really am enjoying the area of Nagrand, reminds me of the Tauren starting zone or as what some refer to Nagrand as "Lion King." Hopefully the quests will atleast get me up a level, then its off to the next area.

I suck at planning ahead... Taking the elevator is a challenge for me...
So I do not plan ahead for the lvl 70 things to do...

I'm almost 65, and all I'm doing is questing the whole way to 70, with a few guild instance runs in between. I'm not skipping any quests along the way. i just finished with zangarmarsh last night, and will be moving on to terrokar forest tonight. Once i hit 70, i figure i will start leveling the rest of my professions (not looking forward to fishing) and start getting revered with all the factions to get instance keys and alchemy recipes. other than that, just enjoying the new content.

Hit 68 Last night. I level faster on my main than I do on my 49 alt at this point, its ridiculous. I want to get my flying mount asap, but a note on the flying mounts. Lots of people seem to be thinking about going directly for an epic flying mount as if that would be more cost effective. The cost in flying mounts is all in the training skill. You pay about 800g for the Expert riding skill and 100g for the mount. You then pay about 4000g for the Artisan Riding skill and a few hundred for the mount. Like other skills you can't just train up to max without lower ranks. So unless you want to save about 200g and not have a flying mount at all until you save 5000g total, you will go for the regular mount at 70.

Well after I get all my gear upgraded and a Flying mount, I do plan to go over to all Aliance lvl 1 towns and Kill everything With a group of my friends. Then raid all the major Aliance towns kill as many alies as I can before I die myself. Then run though low level Aliance zones and kill anyone that maybe grinding/questing in the area for no reason. And along the way maybe i'll wave at a few people... before I use my powers for evil once again.
So basicly.. I'm going to personaly get revenge on the aliance for making the lvl Grind that much more fun by getting backstabed when im lvl 10 by a lvl 60 rouge =) isint it grand

About the speed leveling - it's not really fast, but it's FUN. Questing in Outlands looks like questing at the starting zones, good quests with clear paths (mostly) and entertaining chains with good rewards. I was kinda sad to leave Hellfire Peninsula @ 63 after completing every single quest (except for the PvP ones), and right now I am in the middle of 64, Zangarmarsh. It's been easy enough - go to a FP/Camp, get all quests, deliver, get chain quests, move to the next camp. Interaction between the players and NPCs is a little better, too.
As for my plans, pretty much the same. Get a flying mount, level enchanting (did not even get Master Enchanting so I would not be tempted to disenchant everything instead of vendoring it) to 375, level fishing and cooking to 375 and start playing with my BE Paladin (yeah, I know)

You can start on that attunement to Mount Hyjal now at 66. I have. If you're a good player and have decent gear you can kill Escape From Durnholde Keep, which is part of the attunement.

Sorry if the numbers were off, I was doing off the top of my head. In any case I trust yours better than mine. Mainly I was trying to debunk the myth ive seen in way too many people, that you can just scrimp and go from no flying mount to Epic flying mount in a few weeks. For the average player, this isnt gonna happen.

My hit list at 70 is as follows:
- Get attuned to all of the dungeons
- Save for Epic Flying Mount
- PVP in both the Arena & BGs
- Level Enchanting from 335-375
- Level Blacksmithing from 0-375
- Finish the grind for my War Talbuk
I'd also like to get my Warrior to 70 once things settle down.

I still haven't seen anyone on my server with a flying mount, even thought I know people have to have them by now. Theres plenty of 70's around. Maybe its jsut because I haven't gone any further than Zangarmarsh other than the occasional trip to Shattrath to use a portal to go train.

I'm curious if anyone knows what the speed difference is between all the mounts. For example:
Regular Mount = 60% increase
Epic Mount = 100% increase
Regular Flying Mount = ???
Epic Flying Mount = ???

@ Mekias:
On top of my head:
Regular Mount = 60% increase
Epic Mount = 100% increase
Regular Flying Mount = 60% increase (But you fly over everything)
Epic Flying Mount = 280% increase (Plus you fly!)

For me, it'll probably be a longer road, but that's no biggie for me.
I have 2 characters I'm actively leveling:
My main Human Mage:
Reach 70.
Finish saving up and buy an epic (ground) mount.
Save up and buy flying mount.
Get keyed for all of the instances.
Tailoring to 375.
Enchanting to 375.
Honor Hold: Exalted
Cenarion Expedition: Exalted
Sporeggar: Revered
Lower City: Revered
The Scryers: Exalted
The Sha'tar: Revered
Kurenai: Revered (maybe)
The Consortium: Exalted
Keepers of Time: Exalted
Join a raiding guild again when I'm ready.
My primary alt, Human Paladin:
Level to 70 with my girlfriend.
Finish my epic mount quest.
Save up and buy flying mount.
Get keyed for all of the instances.
Tailoring to 375.
Enchanting to 375.
Honor Hold: Exalted
Cenarion Expedition: Exalted
Sporeggar: Honored
Lower City: Exalted
The Aldor: Exalted
The Sha'tar: Exalted
Kurenai: Exalted (maybe)
The Consortium: Honored
Keepers of Time: Revered
Also, on tuesdays are my guild's "Horde night" where all or most of us play our horde alts instead. During those nights, I'm leveling a Blood Elf Rogue and a Blood Elf Warlock, and since I specifically held off on leveling Horde characters just so I could explore all of the Horde quests as a blood elf, for the first time, most of it's new to me, so tons of fun there! My goals for those two characters are just 70, and seeing what's out there.
