Reader WoWspace of the Week: January 23 - 30
Continuing the love from the last edition of Reader WoWspace of the Week, we've got another Mac in the mix. This week's WoWspace comes to us from Mark:
My WoW space:
17" MacBook Pro Core Duo (2GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB)
30" Apple Cinema Display
Apple wireless keyboard and Might Mouse
What I like:
All of it, is perfect for my WoW gaming. Nothing like playing it on a 30" display.
What could be improved:
A Mac Pro to replace the MacBook. Going to be 2007's purchase hopefully.
There you go, short and sweet, and to the point. The desk looks immaculate, and I can only wonder what playing on a 30" screen is like!
Remember to send in your own WoWspace pics and descriptions to readerwowspace at gmail dot com!

Simply stunning, Mark. Extremely good looking setup.
I've always wondered about playing WOW with a wireless mouse/keyboard. Before I started playing FPS games in conjunction with my WOW addiction, it would've been a no-brainer, but I need the high DPI of a gaming mouse (wired Razor Copperhead) to deliver.
Still, incredibly immaculate setup. I drool in e-envy.

I like it, but why isn't WOW playing in the monitor?

I too would have liked to see it playing.
Glad to see another Machead's setup show up.

Question: How does the MacBook Pro handle the 30 inch monitor? I thought about doing this (even though I only have the 15"), but was worried that the laptop would have trouble pushing that many pixels around.

"mighty mouse" implies a 2nd button?

#8 Nah, Macs are for people who want to get on with doing what they intended to do, rather than fight with their O/S all the time! I'm a PC fanatic, but having recently discovered the joys of the Mac, I could be tempted to ditch the PC!

If the OS you're fighting with is Win98, you have a point. XP fixed most of that crashing all the time nonsense. Back in the day, that arguement used to hold a lot of water. Macs were more stable than PCs and they were used commonly in publishing and design. These days, going Mac is more of an shiny white beveled-edge image thing.

Ugh...good hardware but OSX can't even take full advantage of it.

Im seriously contemplating buying a mac with all the problems my pc keeps having, and it's almost brand new. I'm thinking the 24" imac with the graphics, processor, ram, and rom upgrades. Anyone use anything like that and have an opinion on it?

Hi folks - it's a photo I took earlier before I had WoW. I'll do another tonight with WoW running and post it via Flickr linked to here :)
@ Joe, the MBP handles the 30" just fine. I use it for work in InDesign and Illustrator (though really need to get a Mac Pro for that soon), but for now it handles WoW with no problems and just about all the graphical candy at maximum. To my eye, the game looks gorgeous and I simply like the ability to see lots more of the world surrounding my toon.
@ the Mighty Mouse comments - I'm using a corded version now as the BT wireless version simply sucked - the right click never worked properly. Am thinking of grabbing the Logitech keyboard / mouse set they released for Mac a few months ago.
@ Halicante - go for it. The 24" iMacs are gorgeous :)

I use the 15 inch MBP with 256Mb graphics, and a 30 inch monitor and that's fine.
I too have the same problem with mighty mouse BT. The right click is dreadful, so in the end I go back to my trusty cheap MS laser mouse.
