The lonely worgen
We know that Rag, Nef and all their pals are getting pretty bored, but Polynikes of Uldaman poses an interesting question about the activities of regular mobs. Polynikes was wandering around Duskwood when he fell off a cliff, bounced off a tree, and ran into a lone worgen sitting on top of a mountain. He wonders if anyone has even seen this mob before, and asks the general forums if there might be a mob that's so out of the way it's never been killed.
Other players suggest the birds on the northern side of Deadwind Pass, some underwater murlocs in Strangethorn Vale, and the elite sharks that annoy druids doing their waterform quest in Westfall as the "oldest" mobs in WoW. Personally, I kind of wish there were epic-dropping but easy world bosses that occasionally spawned in the total middle of nowhere, to reward players who go out of their way to adventure.
What do you think is the oldest mob in Azeroth?

I've killed the birds in N DWP when I went there to fish (nice high (pre-Outlands-high) level fresh water fishing close to IF.
And I killed lots of the elite sharks to kill time while escorting my wife out for the druid quest.
I'd guess some of the under water giants in Azshara haven't been killed in a long time and I never spent much time in southeast Azshara either, but the few times I rode through (to parachute off the cliff headed towards MC water) no one was there.

I bet those turtles and giants further south than the Cuergo's Gold quest spot on Land's End Beach in Tanaris are pretty old.

Imagine my shock when, on my BlackBerry RSS reader, I see a reference to the thread I started. Thanks!! That thread got a lot more mileage than I thought it would...

The birds in Deadwind Pass are old? Not on my server...I farmed those things an hour a day, and paid for my epic mount with them. Averaged 25s each in vendor trash, plus Giant Eggs and Ironfeathers.

Last time I was in southern Tanaris for Cuergo's Gold, there were about 5 farmers in that area. I asked one why they were in such an out of the way place and apparently some pearl drops off those mobs (with a very low drop rate indicating they farm the whole beach) that sells for a large ammount on the AH.
My bet is going with desolace. I rarely quested there but when I did, there were always very few horde in that area, and I don't think I ever saw any alliance. So I bet there is some far off corner of the zone that hasn't been explored by anyeone, with some lonely mob whos only action he ever gets is server restarts.

I think it would be cool if the mobs loot tables got better over time, so that a mob that wasn't killed for a long time had better loot than one that is a new spawn. Something like: Every hour they exist, add more to the loot table.
@7: I always do my 30-40 leveling in Desolace precisely because it is so desolate and quiet. Never have to worry about someone ganking you or interrupting your grinding/farming patterns.

Last night I was working on Lockpicking in desolace on my 64 rogue (laaaaaazy... lol)... While i was swimming around taking a look at the area (elixir of greater water breathing of course), I came across a named silver elite crab named Crusty. In the water off the northwest coast is an underwater temple and village of naga sort of, found this little Crusty there. Sadly I am not the only one, but certainly one of few to come across him. He has 6 kills on allakhazam. But really there is zero reason for anyone to be where I was.
