Breakfast topic: Kill on sight
It was with some surprise that I noticed a couple days ago that my guild was creating a "Kill On Sight" list for Alliance. Our guild isn't a PVP guild, most of us won't be PVP specced at 70, and although we've got a few ex-High Warlords, few of us have really made PVP a priority.
On a PVP server, some ganking when fighting is inevitable. Most of us have learned to live with this, shake our heads, sigh, and release for the corpse runback. Normal "unintentional" PVPing shouldn't be enough to make a KOS list. But with the new levels in Burning Crusade came the inevitable guy who hit 70 three days after the xpac came out and now hovers around Hellfire Peninsula on his epic flying mount, ready to make your day in Outlands a living hell. And the guy who mind-controls you off a cliff, which is funny the first time but not the next nine. And the guy who corpse camps you for half an hour when you only have forty minutes to play before work. Repeated gankers, people who try to make you lose durability, and extreme corpse campers are the type of people who become KOS. (Although not for me, as I am bad at PVP and will usually let them kill me and then stealth and hide in a corner.)
There's also the guy who acts like a jerk on the forums or ninjas from a well-liked guild, and the well-liked guild calls on their opposite-faction pals to make sure the guy never gets a moment of peace. On the Hyjal server, a very unpopular Alliance player was ganked by a rogue in the middle of Ironforge as everyone cheered.
Does your guild have a kill on sight list, or do you have one personally? What do people have to do to make your KOS list? Do you think you're on a lot of lists yourself?

ganking is the whole reason I don't play on PVP servers. I would lose my mind after I hit lvl 20.
That being said, I am dreading someof the world PVP objectives. I completed the pvp quest in hellfire peninsula during the first week after release. But I haven't amde an attempt at any other pvp objectives and I am sure they are now being camped out by lvl 70's on flying mounts (I have heard reports that this is true).
There have been a few people that I wish I could tell the alliance to kill. Unfortunately I don't know any alliance players.

pvp server, my list is as long as my arm.
corpse campers
grey gankers (i.e. ganking my lowbie alt)
when i get teamed up on
ppl who attempt to gank me but get beaten then call their friends
but as a warlock revenge is normally given quite quickly.

I'm an Orc Hunter of Frostwolf, and we never maintained an active KoS list until the expansion. Now with these dive-bombers and just ridiculous lvl 70 gear, these guys guys with nothing better to do just dive bomb and camp.
If you want to maintain a KoS list, just type /ignore and the other faction member will be added to your ignore list. Then that way you know who's who.

I'm not an ardent PVPer, but I do enjoy the sense of danger that being in contested (or enemy) territory on a PVP server brings. Of course, being on a PVP server, you're guaranteed to get ganked. I'm with Elizabeth - general ganking is fine, but when the guy waits till you're fighting three mobs then stabs you in the back, it's KOS time.
For anyone that likes to hold a grudge like me, I'd recommend the Opium mod - it records all your PVP deaths (I don't think it applies in BGs), and allows you to add players or whole guilds to your KOS list. It'll also alert you visually and audibly if a person that's on the KOS list is nearby. You can find it here - http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files/details/244/opium/

I generally don't gank, but as a Orc Shaman, Dranaei Shamans are KOS.

I will need to get my Warlock back up to 70, but when the level cap was 60, I would play my Warrior, whom I enjoy a great deal, and once and awhile a ganker would show up and camp me. I would then log on my Lock and come get revenge, repeatedly.
I'll have to level my enforcer after my tank gets to 70...

I'm on a PVP server and I have a KOS list, anyone who ganks me in the middle of fighting mobs or that camps gets added.

As a rogue on a pvp server, im here for precisely that:
Ganking someone who is lower level than you, is fighting a mob and causing an armor hit.or is AFK and or a combination of the 3.
Nothing makes me smile more than the knowledge that I've ruined someone else's day.
Especially hunters.

I don't play on a PVP server, but my guild has a blacklist - ninjas and all around asshats go on it. I'm sure if we were on a PVP server, it'd be a KOS list.

I've been very tempted to put a couple people on my KOS list if they are flagged. I'm on a RP server. I found some nice horde that wanted to trade captures in HFP. all was going well we were getting marks and then Kyzza joins them. Well last tower of the run he turns around and shoots me and end to that truce and alliance beatdown begins. Funny how you can get reinforcements on a moments notice.

The topic title is:
"Kill on sight"
Your on a pvp server set in a world where its long time title has been orcs vs humans... etc etc... Theres 2 sides at "war". You would't see a german soldier in World War 2 run by a British soldier and /wave at him would you?
You join a PVP server to face PVP issues, your at "war" with another faction. That being said, I find it ridicuolous that you all complain about ganking period. I see red I attack, period. Could be 1 guy could be 3, doesnt matter, its a pvp server, where im at war with another faction and guess what. When I see a member of the opposite alliance, there going DOWN. Period plain and simple.
For those of you who want to run around and /wave /dance /bemerry with one another, re-role on a PVE server.
Like I said the topic is "kill on sight", and thats what a good majority of players do, theres no hidden truce, there's no secret dont kill pact, theres no horde/alliance "Alliance", the plain pure fact remains, your at war with one another so get ready for it, I have the option to mindcontrol you and throw you off the edge of the word, /wave /laugh, and yep /spit on you, and I intend to do it.
Please add me to your kill list's :)

I'm that guy who hit 70 and thinks Halaa is the coolest thing since sliced bread. If you're a Horde on Dethecus anywhere in the vicinity of Halaa, you'll get repeatedly killed by me-- even if you're questing to kill the mobs below the town in the ravine.
I like the thrill of PvP, ganking, or a random person attempting to gank me. It's a true test of your skills. Anybody can kill a brainless mob, it's another thing to kill a player controlled character.

I am on Maelstrom, RpPvP server, and, up until the past few days, ganking has been at an all time low.
It appears that the unoffcial "truce" is over.
Ran into roving bands of Alliance in Nagrand last night into ganking anything that moved (died 4 times to one group). Actually was being nice (that will never happen again!) to a Dwarf and he turned from the mob to attack me!
A 67 Rogue was ganking anythign that moved outside of Thrallmar. Not sure what the point of that is since most are low 60's there. Had some guildmates become not happy with his constant dickishness there.
I must say, it was nice for the past two weeks with little to no ganking...but that appears to be a thing of the past now!
I will be ganking on sight now...or at least firing up Arcane Power, PoM, and Pyroblast for opening savo's for future engagements!
No more mister nice guy!
Atie Feb 2nd 2007 9:53AM
Ago is correct...and prior to BC that is how it was!
I never complain...except when the other side are ass's about it.

"On the Hyjal server, a very unpopular Alliance player was ganked by a rogue in the middle of Ironforge as everyone cheered."
now that made me smile, my rogue tends to hunt the KOS list when i get bored on the mage, normaly it's IF but i've moved him to the outland city now... ;)
Gankers need to beware : if you see a lonely mage sitting in the woods /afk... look before you land yer lovely birdies... you might be suprised on what's hiding in the nearby woods/houses/caves - we call it the gank suppression team.

@10
Are you sure we are at war? It appears to me that both factions are standing on the Azeroth side of the portal looking at a map together?
On another note I am on a PVP server and as a Warlock have only been attacked by rogues or stealthed druids who wait after I kill 2 or 3 mobs at once. Which is fine and as long as they move on after that which they have done so far, I am fine with it.
Zuuler Feb 2nd 2007 10:12AM
I agree that if you are on opposing sides, attacking each other should be part of the game. But corpse camping is just wrong. Move on, kill someone else, and if you see me again, pick a fight with me.
Kick Feb 2nd 2007 10:19AM
I don't KOS players, but I KOS certain guilds and their members. There is a guild on my server, "full Moon" ... they are the worst players I ever see .. Ganking, grey killing etc etc ...
It's my revenge , I always KOS those players. No matter the lvl (It must be an alt), no matter what they do ... I kill (I let a mob kill the player, that's better) :p
Booz Feb 2nd 2007 10:19AM
You touch me unprovoked and intentionally. You are on my personal kill list. Just a sap or just a gouge or something like that doesn't matter, but if you dot me or come at me w/ harm intended, prepare to die. If 2 people from the same guild do it on seperate occaisons, (this is outside of pvp quests) your guild is now KOS.
Camping corpses is really crappy. But I will kill you back to back to back to back if I keep running into you coincidentally.
