Transcripts from the Xfire Debate with WoW Insider

I want to make sure and thank all the WoW Insider readers who showed up to the Xfire Debate on Wednesday night-- I know I heard from a lot of people, I've got a lot of new people on my Xfire friends list, and I definitely heard a few good shoutouts. Thanks for participating-- I think it went really well.
Xfire has posted transcripts of the chat: This is the main transcript, which I participated in along with reps from World of Raids, Taverncast, and Curse Gaming-- the whole thing was moderated by Gary Whitta, a former PC Gamer editor-in-chief (who, I'm told, I tussled with during the debate, but it was all in good fun). In addition, Xfire has posted the "Open Debate" transcript, which actually has a lot more to read through, and is just as interesting, if not moreso, than the "Main Floor"-- a lot of people had a lot of good opinions about the Burning Crusade, the new instances and races, and plans for the future of Blizzard's game (player housing is apparently wanted by many).
Again, if you came by to see it, thanks for your support, and a big thanks to Xfire for hosting the whole thing (and especially to Xfire's Matt Gilman for setting everything up). Their Debate Club is supposed to be a regular feature, so while it'll probably be a while before they cover WoW again, it's definitely worth it to check back in with them to see what's coming up next.

you never did answer my question about this blog calling for the end of lvl 60 raids. (when in fact its not true).
Granted gear hungry people wont want to run it. But those are hardcore players usually. I (like 85% of the other players in WoW) play this game to have fun and gear is a bonus when it drops. So taking down naxx, onyxia etc. is still on my to do list and I and 85% of WoW will continue to play those areas for fun.
I hate to keep pestering but I always looked at this blog as a lvl field for everyone. Ever since BC it seems to have gone the way of the hardcore player.

Whats this Xfire thing all about?
Ive never seen that before, hows it work?

Hey Seper, sorry I didn't answer that question, I didn't realize you were asking.
I would never call for the end of level 60 raids-- personally I have a rogue that I would love to farm UBRS with just to get the Felstriker, a weapon I've always wanted. I would love it if people run the old instances.
But as I (and the other WoW insider people can speak for themselves) see it, it's just not happening. Any suggestion to running UBRS, Strat, or ZG or AQ in my guild's chat is laughed at just because the gear is so much better in Outland.
I'm not in favor of ending the level 60 raids, not at all-- I think those instances are fun and have items exclusive to them that are neat to have. But when you look at what players in the game are doing, most players just aren't running them.

alright then.. what would you have to say to the claims of 2 70s soloing onyxia and other instances?
As I read it seemed to take them awhile but they did do it. So will blizzard be lookign into making the lvl 60 dungeons harder or move them to lvl 70 dungeons all together?
Isn't there a way to get a heroic mode for those lvl 60 instances?
Mike Schramm Feb 2nd 2007 3:14PM
Sure, I'd love to see a Heroic mode to the old instances-- that would let new 60s run them as they were meant to be run, and it would let players revisit them to go back and get better gear.
But of course that's up to Blizzard-- they haven't said what they're doing with these old instances yet, if anything at all.
