Breakfast Topic: I can't believe we survived that...
As a healer, my very favorite game moments are the ones in which, after a particularly messy pull, the rest of the party stops for a moment to say "Wow, how did we survive that?" Not that "good healing" is necessarily the answer -- as in my experience, a typical how-did-we-survive-that moment requires timely action on the part of multiple party members. My most recent how-did-we-survive-that experience came during a Scarlet Monastery run yesterday. A friend of mine was after a drop from Mograine, but it was an odd hour and there were few people around interested in groups. So with a level 40 paladin and a level 43 druid, we decided to duo the cathedral. Neither of us were sure we could take out Mograine and Whitemane at the end, but figured that trying was better than sitting around doing nothing. And while I think we both burned nearly every cooldown, in the end, to our own surprise, we emerged victorious. So with that said, what's your best story of surviving despite the worst odds?

Closest experience I had to that was with my dreadsteed. We were doing the part were all the felguards and imps come. Everyone told me 4 felguards came during the ritual. Well, we had 6 spawn. We were coming up on the end of the ritual and I was the only lock with the ability to fix the nodes... and I was the first to die.
I felt for sure we were doomed for failure, as I watched my group drop one by one. The last left alive was our mage, and somehow just as he died, the ritual completed. We just had to rez, heal, and start the next step, summoning the dreadsteed. This made me happy :)

last week, hellfire ramparts.
tank gets killed @ 68% pally takes over but we start to get overwhelmed. just a mage and warlock left and hes sitting at roughly 8%. mage gets squished with a crushing and its just the warlock and his felguard.
warlock sticks up a fresh set of dots and jumps off the bridge towards the entrance, nazan proceeds to chase him around the entire layout of the ramparts felguard following and cleaving away at nazan.
as nazan approaches warlock, deathcoil and a shadow burn crit... dead netherwhelp. We LOL'd.

@Zuuler
so long as one ritual node continues to function after your party dies the ritual will complete successfully.

Slave Pens at level 63.
We had a pull where someone, possibly the MT, got feared into another group, netting us a group of 6 elites to try and kill. Things were looking bad, but we managed to keep everyone up until there were only 2 mobs left. Unfortunately, we couldnt keep tanking and spanking, because our healer had just bit the dust hard, and our tank was getting low on health.
Being the frost mage I am, I popped my WE, had the tank kite the mobs around me in a circle, and me and my elemental DPSed both of them to death. It was pretty epic.

20 something in BFD as a shammy (awhile back), we were just outside of the temple thing with all the 'locks, and we aggroed both the front group and back group. Not surprisingly everyone died, except for myself. A few people ran off trying to keep about 3 mobs off me while I fought off 3, then they died and the last 3 came for me.
Lots of war stomp heal, pot, shock and totem dmg made it happen, then I went and rez'ed everyone back and went and finished.
Or maybe today when, as a 51 shammy, I killed a 60 pally. Earth Shock, Warstomp and ele mastery /w frost shock saved the day.

We were at the last boss of stehekk halls, the group was a 68 druid, 69 priest, 2 70 mages and a 70 lock. I (the druid) was tanking. The last boss did an unfortunate port as he landed right next to our priest and lock. Unfortunatly they could get out of the way fast enough and got whacked. The boss was still at 68% and my battleres was on cooldown. I proceeded to heal myself and the group between each aoe pulse just enough so that we survived between each port. With a mix of that and a lot of bandages, pots, and an innervate, we managed to kill him.

@3
I failed to mention, as I watched my group slowly die, 2 nodes went down. So we were at the last node already.

We had a few of those last night in Black morass.
Druid, Rogue, Warrior, Mage and Priest (me)
This encounter is one of the more cool in the game, it's intense and interresting... but it's also bugged and ... suprising at times.
We startet out like normal clearing 6 portals and taking down the first boss, then something when all wrong, just as the 1st boss died, portal 7 opened, giving weak time to drink and fight... we reached portal 7 and started to down the rift-lord, when he hit some 50% portal 8 open (!!!!!) wtf, we said and the rogue and druid moved to intercept those from portal 7 and 8 while the rest of us, took down portal 7, when portal 7 died, portal 9 opened ( !!! NOOOO) the mana and figthing had moved to the place where Medive was standing, and we where doing all to interrupt, and popped the first time-dragon... and we had almost portal 7 and 8 adds down, and was tanking/killing off Rift-Lord 8 while rift-lort 9 had his fun - this proceede all the way until portal 11 when we had portal 10, 11, and Boss 2 from portal 12 open and spawning mobs all around - it was getting so messy that our TS channel was being spammed with - "WTF", "argh" , "heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp", "heal" and alot more of that kind, we manged to close portal 10 and 11, and started to tank the 2. boss with 20% Group mana, and a tank with almost no life... the Druid took over to avoid the debuff on our tank and all cooldowns where popped...
I kid you not when I say that my heart was daring me to burst out from my chest, exploding all over my screen, wall, and what ever!!
We got the boss, and then it bugged again, this time, it didnt' open any portals, 13 and 14 was just not spawning, we where very puzzled and exchausted...
How we ever managed to get this done is beyond me, it is, by far, the most hardcore encounter I have ever had, mana potions, and cooldowns, trinkets and innervate was on a constant use... and we had no Time-dragons-Beacons left... hehe...
if you ever encounter this in BM, I hope you the best of luck, chance is that it's not yet fixed so you still have time to experience BM when it bugs...
oh and yeah we got Paladin Loot - (we are horde) so it was all worth it..! :-D

The day BC dropped, a group of us went into Blood Furnace as level 60s. We got down to the very last boss and were doing fine. Our tank started lagging, got caught in one of his AoE attacks, and promptly died. Our group members dropped one by one until I was the last one standing. He had a couple thousand hitpoints left, so I started my best attempt at kite and kill. Since he's immune to just about everything, I couldn't keep him away though, and he was bearing down on me. Just as he was about to hit me (and kill me), he went into his AoE attack again and stopped. This gave me time to get some distance, hit him with everything I had, and burn him down. I was hailed as a hero throughout the land.

Tanking Nazan in Hellfire Ramparts and he wipes the group on about 2%, except for an afk hunter and his pet. Nazan kills the pet, heads for the hunter who suddenly comes back, runs straight up to Nazan and smacks him with raptor strike before running around in circles auto-attacking him and then raptor strikes him again and kills him.
When asked why he didn't just shoot him, the hunter replied 'oh yeah'
Priceless.

Picture this: you're standing in Onyxia's lair. She's just landed for phase three. She turns away from the tank! She wipes out a crapload of raid members. You've got about 10 people left... a tank, a couple DPSers, and 3 healers. The horrible dragon turns again! There are now four people alive, the tank's going down, Ony's at 9%. The two healers are trying like hell to save their mana, do as much DPS as possible, and keep the tank up. The tank is probably scared out of his wits. The lone DPSer is terrified of inciting Ony's wrath. There's a guy on teamspeak screaming WIPE IT! WIPE IT! A tail swipe! One of the healers is down!
Somehow... we finished off Ony... in mixed blue/purple gear... with three people.

I'm sure everyones had these ones... Start out with 2 mobs that you delibertly pull. Then a traveler comes... then another... then the one you were attacking runs off to grab a friend (repeat this step 3 times). Luckily my buddy and I pwn and manage to stay alive in 95% of these situations :p
On the flipside... My buddy and I rolled new classes to enjoy a new side to the game. He rolled a priest (his main is a warrior) I rolled a Warrior (my main being a druid). We are questing in westfall when a defias comes up and attacks me (we were 3-4 lvls below him). Instead of my friend healing me he keeps shooting his crappy shadow spells off!! Instead of healing me :p
Was quite funny to have him in the situation I'm put in everyday :p

on my warlock...Pulling first aq boss and tank let the sunders stack to high before passing and then priest got hit by a bubble....So as the boss is dieng we start to fall of one by one...We threw every dot on him we could....
i pulled a VW real fast and sac'd him...just as he was about to crush me....Cruse of Doom Crit!
It was funny and one of the best moments in the game for me so far.

With my then level 60 druid and two level 60 rogues we successfully rolled the chest of seven. It was AWESOME!

Pretty much every week contains either one of these, or a "Oh, bugger, how did we not survive that?" moment.
A bit of clarification - I like very challenging team games. So for about 4 months now, I and two friends have been three-manning instances (Warrior, Mage, Priest) at about the levels that you'd normally five-man them.
Favourite fights so far have included killing Asmodean, with all of us at lvl 46, no off-tank, our Holy priest jumping between healing me and DPSing the adds, with me desperately attempting to keep Asmo and friends off the mage and the priest and then frantically attempting to spam the last bit of DPS into Asmodean - which, let me tell you, is a bit of a trick when you're Prot-specced - and our mage attempting to do the same sort of DPS you'd normally have two people of the same level putting out to take Asmo down as quickly as possible. We finished with all of our health and mana bars at 5% or less - I thought we were going to wipe right up until the point that Asmodean fell on me.
(The first time we took out Thermaplugg, at 31/31/32, was much the same deal, except that there he died at exactly the same time we all got exploded by one of his bombs.)
Currently we're getting royally pwned by the Princess in Maraudon. I think I've got a strategy - look for the Thottbot "We 3-manned her at 49!" comment soon...

Tried running the Colossus quest in Hellfire Peninsula with a warlock friend. At level 60 (both of us). Without reading about the quest or talking to guildies. We pulled three. The only thing that saved us was two or three big Cleave crits and my new fancy Outlands tank trinket that adds defense and 900 hp.

A 40 pally and a 43 druid? Hell, that's overkill. At this point, the pally could have soloed SM. At the very least, one tanks, one heals.
Now, I'll say I can't believe you survived it if you replace the pally with a warrior and run it successfully.

I had a proud moment the other day - but we did end up wiping in the end.
Our MT had a quest to kill the elite orcs in Hellfire Penn (the ones right by the wall). So myself, another warlock and a rogue grouped up to help him. We jumped down from the cliff back into the little alcove and started pulling. After downing the first one, we moved forward to take out the other guy. Unfortunately the respawn rate was fast enough, that during our fight with the elite and his two guards, every single other mob we'd killed up to that point respawned - including the other elite. We had to use fears, but that caused other adds. There was one point where we were facing 10-12 mobs at once...although we did eventually get trounced, by the time we all died there were about 30 dead bodies around us. We were quite satisfied.

Shattered Halls:
We pulled 6 elites with a Legionaire, who always has to be killed first. As the Legionaire dies, the pat with 2 non elite dogs and 1 elite Houndmaster pulls. We kill down to 3 elites.
Proximity aggros 5 more elites, one of which has a nasty mortal strike.
We survive with no casualties, out of a 14 pull with only 2 non elites.

We were doing the Mana Tombs, 66 Mage, 65 Druid (me), 64 Warrior, 67 Rogue and a 67 Shammy. I was MH which is interesting considering i'm spec'd Full Balance.
We're up to the 1st Boss (the voidwalker) and it's going ok until a shadow bolt volley takes away half the party's health so a few didn't have bandages so i'm rushing to top everyone off and I ran OOM at about 25%
The rogue dies, followed by the tank and the shammy. He's now to about 8% health and coming right for me, the shammy pops and gets taken out right away so I popped a pot and started laying into him, he does his knockback and i'm at about 300 health when the mage pulls aggro and he turns around to go after him.
He knocks the mage back and brings him to 200 health and we both just hit em with everything we had and he finally went down :)
