Blizz: Regular nether drakes may be available next patch

Level 70s who've spent a lot of time in Shadowmoon Valley may have noticed that they're able to get neutral with the Netherwing Faction. Several of my guildmates who did the quest chain, which ends with you killing Zuluhed, were disappointed that they weren't able to grind up to exalted and get a nether drake mount. It's already been stated that armored nether drakes will be the prize for the top arena PVP team each season, but what about the regular drakes?
Drysc said Monday that in the next content patch, players can probably expect a questline for a 310 percent speed nether drake mount. He refused to give any more details about the quest, though. Most speculators are guessing that it will be a continuation of the Shadowmoon Valley chain, probably involving a horrifically long Wintersaberesque reputation grind. Some more cynical players said they expected it to not only be a rep grind, but involve drops you can only get from high-level raids, to keep the mounts rare.
Would you grind for a nether drake mount, or will you be content on your 280 percent speed swift windrider or griffon?

Atm id be happy just to get a 280% mount, but the nether drake is a nice option, after all the current mounts are just pimped up wind masters. A few more types of flying mount would rock

I'm definately going to try to get a netherdrake. I hope it doesn't involve end-game instances (I can't really think of any that would involve the Netherwings, aside from perhaps the Black Temple).

I really want blizzard to give warlocks their own mount. I dont care how long the quest chain is or how many mats i need or how much gold i have to spend! Ill do it!

I think the only way to acquire one of these mounts would be to get a divorce, let her have the kids, quit your job and hope to god you can reach netherdrake-dom before the utility company cuts your electricity from non-payment.
Oh and you'd probably also have to use a feeding tube and wear diapers (like the crazy woman from NASA).

Your own warlock mount? I think you can get that out of Dire Maul already. Now, if you mean your own warlock flying mount, well, given the abilities of warlocks, the only fitting mount I can think of is the A-10 Warthog. If you're going to be overpowered, might as well have an overpowered mount too.
Now, for warriors, I hear Blizzard is taking a similar tact: the warrior will also get their own mount at level 70: 35 helium filled balloons tied to a lawnchair.

This is one item i would probably do whatever it takes to grind up and get exhalted (if necessary). however i really hope that you don't need items from 25 man instances.

"Boohoo i want warlocks to have theire own mount" Give me a break dude.. you have already had 2 times where you dident have to grind gold! Let someone else have a chance to have theire own mount!!
Pritchard Feb 7th 2007 5:48PM
Hey Bartman lay off! Warlocks already have to tab...dot dot dot...tab dot dot dot...fear...dot dot dot... They're tired! It's a lot of work!

please read what was written, warlock around dont care what it takes, even if its paying more than you would normally, justwant a differnt look, ya know akin to the other 2 land mounts, and obviously you do not know what you are talking about, the epic land warlock mount takes close to the ammount of money that the regular mounts cost, and you have to do a quest that takes you to one of teh least played instances in the game, good luck getting a group now.
Roguerhunter Feb 7th 2007 4:46PM
Its be nice if a Hunter had a Epic quest-line to tame one of these or tame a pet for a mount...

I would absolutely work toward a nether drake mount, not even for the speed factor as much as for the looks and for how much I like Netherwing as a faction. Doing that quest chain gave me a feeling of pride and accomplishment like very few other things in WoW ever have.

The desire to have a custom Warlock mount isn't about getting a freebie, and let me remind you that the 100% speed mount is far from free...plus you have to convince people to do Dire Maul. We want a custom mount 'cause then we won't have to muck around with you commoners. I'll pay all associated mount costs. I just want some sort of fiery demon ride so that when i whiz by everyone knows I'm a warlock and to shoot me in the back accordingly. We've had distinctive mounts for so long that we're hesitant to replace them with generic birds.
Pritchard Feb 8th 2007 12:21PM
Please give warlocks their own mount. I want to know from 200 yards away that a douchebag is coming towards me.
Asynchronous Feb 7th 2007 6:05PM
Along those lines, with the epic ground mounts priced dropped, the warlock one isn't even necessarily cheaper, unless you have a friend who has the mats from their own mount. Besides the whole long quest thing.
Lighttech Feb 7th 2007 7:22PM
Will there ever be a chance for one to own a personal hippogriff flying mount? Or how about a mechanical gnomish flying machine? Or maybe a pteranodon mount?
olhado Feb 7th 2007 9:35PM
Aren't the epic netherdrakes arena rewards for being in one of the top five teams for a season or something? That's what I heard, and.. that's pretty intense.

@10:"We want a custom mount 'cause then we won't have to muck around with you commoners. " the funny thing about warlock players is that they think they are so uber and that they are like upper class.... anyone can roll a warlock. it isnt like only the few, the proud, the elite get to be warlocks... you pay your 15 bucks just like i do... stupid
Scarletmoon Mar 14th 2009 10:22AM
hey! easy on the locks :P not all warlocks think they are upper class!! admitedly the comment about not mucking around with commoners was pretty damn lame and i have no idea who 10 thinks they are but i can only hope the comment was meant tongue in cheek lol im a warlock too (well my main is) In actual fact i think the mounts should be decided by class not race...and every class should have a mount quest so should they choose to complete it they too can have their 'free' mount - although i dont see how any mounts can be called free cos you still gotta pay for training and the dreadsteed mount quest was a pain to get a group for plus the quest can end up costing more than just buying the damn mount - i am currently saving for my artisan riding and its taking forever - its not the mounts that cost the earth - its the training :(
