Death from above, or fun things to do with a flying mount

I got my flying mount at four in the morning, and I spent most of my WoW time the next day in instances, so I had to wait for last night to really have fun with it. I was tired of getting buzzed by Alliance and the jerks in my guild that got their epic flying mount immediately (see above picture). After doing a quick flight over Skettis and leveling my lockpicking to 350, I checked out some other interesting things you can do with a flying mount:
- Go to Hellfire Peninsula and buzz the lower-level opposite faction by dive-bombing them from the sky, just to see them run away in fear. Bonus points for hovering directly over their head for five minutes.
- Pick up two guildies and fly in formation like geese or fighter pilots. See how many random people join you.
- Get a large raid to try to spell out words in the sky. I couldn't convince my guildmates to do this, but imagine what a much-disliked person from your faction will feel when you whisper him to "look up" and he sees your entire guild, on windriders, spelling out "DIE" ...
- Claim one of the small, random, floating islands as your home. I chose a little place with a tree high above Garadar, for convenient city and river access. If you're feeling obnoxious, begin trying to sell real estate in general chat.
- Look in odd places for herbalism and mining nodes. One herb, mana thistle, grows only in places you can reach by flying mount. Plus, it'll be a lot faster to find that Khorium you've been looking for if you can just drop down and grab it.
- See how high you can survive a drop into one of the lakes in Nagrand.
- Play chicken around the opposing faction's cities, since they now have flying guards. I did this and ended up on a mountaintop with around 23 health. Oops.
What fun things have you found to do with your flying mount? What are you looking forward to doing?

I went to grab some felweed in the Bone Wastes, when all of a sudden a level 70 rogue dropped on me and killed my level 65 self. Then she took the felweed and left.
Flying mounts should have a bell on them or something...

LOL - I love the bell idea...at least Fel Reavers let you know they're coming.

can't wait to hit 70 on my belf mage. Fly, dismount, slow fall, PoM, Trinket, Fireball, Pyroblast, FUN! =)

As a warrior, my favorite maneuver is the free-fall Charge. Position your mount over a mob, dismount, and Charge before hitting the ground. If you don't time it right or run into an unfortunate lag pocket, you could start you fight at a bit of a disadvantage...or find it delayed by a visit to the graveyard.

I love the fighter pilot idea lol, im so doing that with some of my friends, along with claiming little islands in the sky. :)

I can't wait for the first time I change from stormcrow form to cat and literally drop right into the attack. :)

A few things I love about my flight form (not a mount, technically, but.. you know):
- Two words: Rawrbomb
- The "Halo" (High altitude low deployment): Shifting from flight form to caster to kitty and stealthing before you hit the ground. Mobs won't agro to you unless you're on the ground (technically they'll agro if they can hit you) and can't see you when you're stealthed. The idea is to drop from a high enough altitude where you can get into cat and stealth, but not too high as to take fall damage and break your stealth. The perfect HALO has you land, stealthed, a mere feet from your intended target.
- Scavanging - I will fly through Nagrand for hours at a time just looking for unskinned corpses to level my leatherworking.

As a druid, i cant wait to to my own bombing runs by flying in at a player diagonally, shifting to caster, moonfire, then shift back to flight form and fly away -- then circle back around.

@ #8 Steve - Just so you dont end up as a NE/Tauren smear on the ground... You cant shift into flight form whilst in combat... You could however flightform -> Moonfire -> Cat, but to be honest you would be better off doing flight -> cat form -> stealth -> ravage. They probably wont know what hit them :) Then of course you have the choice of DPS'ing them down, or if you are feeling like a bit of sport, just main -> dance -> shred -> maim -> taunt -> etc etc etc.

Hellfire penitula has got a whole lot more fun. I pitched this idea to my guild before bc and they all liked the idea. everyone gets something to slow there fall eg. engeneering cloak. and hovers high above a enemy city with 20+ guildies or mates. Dismount at same time. City that was nice and peaceful gets bombed by the enemy and absolutely owned before they realise it:P Fun stuff

Noggenfogger Roulette - Everyone grabs some NFE from Tanaris then heads to a nifty place in the sky and all hang out. Then all dismount and drink the NFE, the ones who get slow fall win. :D
