Breakfast Topic: What's the noobist thing you've ever done?
.jpg)
We were all newbies at some point, weren't we? And none of us started out knowing everything there is to know about the game. And in learning, I'm guessing each of us made some mistakes that we'd look back on and shake our heads sadly, wondering how we ever made such silly choices. I'll start off with my own story -- and you can add yours in the comments. My first character to level 60 was a warlock (well back before warlocks were the flavor of the month), and it was certainly a learning experience. And, yes, I was one of those warlocks you would see running around with a fiery enchanted sword. I know, it's terrible and wrong, and I hang my head in shame to think of it, but at the time I didn't know any better. So what about you -- have you had any particularly noobish moments in WoW?

I had been playing a Paladin for a good long time, and decided to try out a Tauren Warrior just to try out the warrior class. I got a gun as a quest reward and for the life of me, could not figure out how to shoot it. I was in Thunder Bluff asking in General Chat how to shoot the gun. No one responded. (Damn elitist Horde...)
Finally I found the "Shoot Gun" command in the General Tab of my spellbook. But it took me 15 minutes to find it...

Well, it appears that I am still a noob. I just recently got my hunter into Outlands (This is my main), and for a good long time, I tried to tame the demonic pigs. Without noticing that they were in fact demons.

When I had first started playing, I had taken up mining, and could not figure out how to make ore into bars. I tried using them, dragging them over to the forge, destroying a stack in the process (d'oh!). I even asked in general chat, and it turned out to be too noob a question for the general populous to answer. So then I learn a few new spells and goto add them to my toolbar, look at the smelting icon and scroll over it and think "maybe I gotta click on it and then click on what I want smelted." and then BAM, this interface flys open in my face. I just sat there for a moment thinking, "my god, I'm an idiot."

I really should know better, I have 3 60+ characters, and lead one of the largest guilds on Turalyon.
Yesterday I was buying up some rugged leather on AH - and was clicking away buying the 4 or 5 auctions that were on at that time. I suddenly realised that the auction I'd just bought was for 20x rugged leather for 99g!!!!!!!
The harsh language I started using would have made anyone blush.
Definately my own fault, but I still can't feel resentment towards the person who puts up items with a BO of 99g99s99c

I think mine was scattering my talent points over the three trees on my first rogue, without knowing anything about builds.
And I remember needing everything in my first deadmines run, because i couldnt figure out what the difference between the two were :P

I thought /kick was an emote. The preist who was making fun of gnomes soon found out, along with me, the party leader, and an idiot......T_T

When I first started, I rolled a Tauren Hunter (not knowing anything about hunters, or any other class for this matter).
I didn't really know at the time what stats would be important to a hunter, so for the next 30 levels, I stacked almost all my points in strength and stamina.
The stam worked fine, but around level 30 I was confused as to why other hunters seemed to be doing so much more ranged damage than me. As well, I had been playing by mostly pulling with the gun, and meleeing when things got close, with my pet only defending me once the enemy hit me.
66 now, and still with the Tauren Hunter, but I figured out what stats were important a long time ago.
60 Warlock as well, but I knew alot more about the game once I got around to building tha character.

Finally got brave enough with my first character, a human mage, to make the run to Menethil Harbor. Actually, wasn't even brave -- got my brother's character to escort me! Then, he took off & I went to get on the boat to Darkshore: the only boat that was there at the moment, the stationary one! And managed to get stuck inside it... My brother had to come back & rescue me. Whatta noob! :)

My first character was a human priest which I leveled to about 19. When I received a quest to go to ironforge I wasn't sure how to get there and I asked in general chat if I just was supposed to head north. No one replied so i took off north of goldshire and into the human starting area. Couldn't find an exit so I went to redridge mountains and kept going north into the burning steppes... where I was thoroughly smacked down by high level characters. I didn't give up though I just kept rezzing and heading north... finally I got a response about where to go and they told me to just take the deeprun. So foolish!

Dropping the first green I ever got for a Grey item because it "had more armor" as a druid. Fun stuff.
Reading through a quest in a quest log (still happens) seeing that it clearly says "east" and heading off west until I realize.

My most Noobish thing (that I can remember) was in the Burning Crusade beta. I was playing a Draenei hunter, I was down in Booty Bay, and me being so used to playing a horde I ran up to the horde flight master and right clicked on him to fly off. I died shortly after.

When I started my human mage, around level 10 someone told me that I should go to IF to get . So, I started running. The stint through Burning Steppes was harsh, and I had to wait for a long time for someone to open the gate. Then I found out about the tram...

I was around level 30... when these robes dropped http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7728 Of course, anybody could tell that they're twink material, but at that time I don't think I even knew what Twink meant, so naturally I equipped them. Not soon later I found some better robes, and; I'm not sure why; but I decided to check out what my old robes (twink robes) were worth. The Buyout hit me like a hammer. 36g?! Talk about noobiness.

I sent kang the decapitator to a guy instead of C.O.D it. XD I told him about it and he said he would still send me the money. He never did.

The first character I had was a warrior and I would religiously train him ever even level. Well around level 35 I realized I had other things I could train if I scrolled down the list! I probably had 10 things I had not trained yet. I felt pretty stupid.

I was showing off Feign Death to a friend, ran into a room, got loads of aggro, then Feigned Death. I didn't realise they would run after my mate :P

On my first character I had a warrior, and it took me a while to figure out how ot build and hold aggro. I look back now and am simply ashamed at how bad of a warrior I was for a span of time.

Doing the "/chicken" quest. Still fun.

Ah, memories... my first level 60 character was a female dwarf hunter. So much noobiness back then, including the fact that I refused to use bows because I had +5 racial skill to guns. Also I was of the opinion (as a dragonscale leatherworker) that the Black Dragonscale set sucked HORRIBLY because it didn't have any agility on it, and what the heck would I ever need fire resistance for anyway??

My macros for decursive and typing the word 'grats' in raid chats for people who got items were next to each other for a good part of my raiding life. Needless to say, noobness resulted. I congratulated the entire raid 20 times during a Lucifron fight one night.....
