New WoW book: Tides of Darkness
Tie-in novels really aren't my thing, so I never read Rise of the Horde, but for those of you that are interested, there's a new Warcraft novel coming out. World of Warcraft: Tides of Darkness is written by Aaron Rosenberg, who wrote, among other things, Starcraft: Queen of Blades. If you couldn't guess by the title, this new book is going to be exploring the events of Warcraft 2, which was my favorite game by far of the three. Blizzplanet has the full story on it; it's going to be released in August 2007, and the author will be making an appearance at New York Comic Con if you want to meet him.Regardless of whether I personally read these novels or not, I do think they're a good thing, in that they delve further into the lore than the games often have a chance to. Lore: it does a body good. What aspect of Blizzard's various universes do you think needs a novel treatment?

I think the Lost Vikings novelization is well overdue.

I really couldn't be bothered with these books, simply because blizzard doesn't seem to value consistency when it comes to a story. First the dranei were simple farmers who were completely wiped out, then it turns out there mutated freaks, then all of a sudden there aliens who crash land on there space ship. What`s the point in reading this if the following books/games contradict it

Cool. I've read all the other WC books and they've been pretty good, especially the Knaak ones.
I think it's a good idea that they're going back to key times in Warcraft history and writing books about them. It's rather difficult and impractical for me to go back and play through WC1 and WC2/WC2X again if I want to go through the storyline again, so it's nice to have a book to just pick up and read.
From the description there, this book is probably just about WC2 and not the expansion. Hopefully they'll also publish a Beyond the Dark Portal book. And I'd love to read a WC1 book, since I didn't get hooked on the series until WC2.
The nice thing about these books is that they can consolodate the old and new lore, since there's a lot of stuff that they didn't even think of when they first created the RTS games.

I wish they would publish these as Audiobooks. Nothing I like better then to farm (whatever) item for ages while listening to a audiobook.
I heard the 3 first Harry Potter books while farming Furbolgs rep.

That is a brilliant idea @ 4... Usually I just listen to music, but for grinding audio books would be awesome! thanks

I like my Orcs more noble than the humans. Which they really are.

I'd like to see an anthology of short stories about regular people... er orcs and taurens and dwarves et al. Or a carefully edited compilation of fan-fic. There's some good stuff out there and some oh so terrible stuff - I'd like a book of the good stuff.
