Around Azeroth: I think I took a wrong turn...

When you log on to find yourself in this situation, you know you're in some trouble. Reader Kalix of Malfurion tells us that this shot was taken after a bad lag spike disconnected him while in Alterac Valley. When he managed to reconnect, he found himself dead, falling endlessly through this black hole -- unable to resurrect or even log out. Says Kalix, "It's nice to see that Blizzard created this void for users that get really, really lost in the game."

That EXACT same thing happened to me. I was in AV, but had some really bad lag and go disconnected. When I relogged, I was in this endless void falling. I tried to get my shammy friend to go to where my body was on the map, which was somewhere below Undercity, near the lake, so he goes there, can't reach my body, then out of nowhere, the corpse leaps to the other side of Silverpine Forest. Pretty crazy, only difference was that I could log out. BLizzard fixed it after an hour or so. Got kinda bored of falling so I loggged off for a bit.

Happened to me a couple days ago too. I was riding into UC and got DC'd. When I signed back on, I was falling through the ground, in the Stonetalon Mountains! Obviously, I died from that, and so I Released, but I just kept falling, as a ghost. Couldn't do anything, and I couldn't even log off or quit the game. So I quit from Task Manager, signed back on, and I was back in the UC graveyard, with my corpse just inches away.
Weird.

This happened to me when I was in the caverns of time pre-expansion... Odd.
Eventually I drifted into the eastern kingdoms again after about an hour and was able to res at a GY.

Fairly sure it's not a 'void', but rather the night sky.

I was on a boat when I got disconnected once, I managed to end up here as well... it's really trippy, you fall out of the sky/void whatever, down into... the same thing you just fell out of! Oh no! The nexus of the universe :-/ I made a good friend there who happened to be stuck at the same time as me. And I saw a spider who was stuck too, no joke.

It happened to me too. I was on the boat back to menethil habor when I got disconnected, no biggie, happens all the time and if I hurry up and log back on, I can make it back before the boat leaves the dock and safely get of the boat. Well this time I found myself at "Red clouds something...” And the pounding beat telling me to resurrect. My first thought was that I was attacked or something when I came to the docks, or maybe even took the wrong boat. So I resurrected, and started falling, and died. After my 4th death I was getting a bit worried. The Map showed my position in a place where I never even been. Not being able to log out or anything. And the pounding beat.....Resurrect... Finally I unplugged the computer. When I logged back on I was laying dead in the graveyard in Wetlands. Armor was at 48% and a hefty repair bill.

A little similar to commenter #2.
I was on a horde raid against Astranaar and then Auberdine. After killing all the NPC's in Auberdine and any players that cared to try, we ran for the docks, the center dock specifically. Neither did I know where that particular boat went, nor did I care. This was my and at least one other’s fatal mistake. Now, I am not sure where the boat on this dock went. However, shortly after departure, I found myself completely logged off. Within seconds, I logged back on again and found myself in a very dark and strange and unknown place (similar to the pic of this posting).I quickly hit M to check the map, only find out that I am in the Stonetalon Mountains. I hit M again (to get rid of the map) to look around. It seemed as if I was under the map, from the look of things… it was very weird, at first for about 5 seconds I seemed to be static and then all of a sudden I was falling, in the semi-darkness ….Falling UNDER the Stonetalon Mountains…WTF, I thought to myself???? I wish I had gotten a screen shot, it was beautiful and weird at the same time. Anyway, I died and watched my body descend into the nothingness.
I rezzed at the stonetalon graveyard. I started running in the direction of my body, the arrow on my mini map pointed south east. I wondered how I would find my body, but I just ran in the direction of the arrow and hoped for the best. Run, run run and I hit the mountains, which were impassable. I hit M again to check where on the map my body was. The map seemed to now show that my body was in Thunder Bluff….. again… wtf? As a tauren, I’m glad my remains seemed to find their way home, however, I was not about to run to TB, to recover them. I tried to run back to the Stonetalon, GY, but could not find it (I had never been there previously). Instead I ran to the cross-roads graveyard, to rezz at the spirit there. This GY, I knew well. I rezzed and all seemed to be back to normal, with the exception of resurrection sickness…. I imagine that it feels like a bad hangover.
By this time, raid chat indicated that the raid had by now dissolved. I talked to one other raid member who also had problems on the boat. However, he simply got transported to the Darkshore GY. Neither he, nor I had the burning crusade expansion, so I think our problem perhaps lay there. Was this boat going to expansion territory? I don’t know. For me, a fun and VERY weird raid.
