AddOn Spotlight: MendWatch
Non-Priests (or Priests that don't heal), you might just want to skip over this one. MendWatch is an AddOn that...well, the author explains it best:MendWatch attempts to track the priest spell Prayer of Mending. A timer bar shows the current target of the Prayer of Mending spell with a countdown of how long the spell will last. When the target gets hit the amount the Prayer of Mending healed for will be shown and the bar will slowly fade away. If the Prayer of Mending jumps to a new target a new timer bar will be shown for the new target.
This AddOn fixes my one complaint about Prayer of Mending: it can be a bit hard to track who it's on or whether you even have one out there at all, when the battle starts getting thick. Just like Cloak of Shadows brings a Rogue vs. caster duel from "imba" to "insane," MendWatch brings PoM from "awesome" to "incredible."
If you're still reading but not familiar with Prayer of Mending, here's the spell's description:
390 mana, instant cast, 40 yard range
Places a spell on the target that heals them for 800 the next time they take damage. When the heal occurs, Prayer of Mending jumps to a raid member within 20 yards. Jumps up to 5 times and lasts 30 sec after each jump. This spell can only be placed on one target at a time.
Since there's not much to say about MendWatch besides "use it," I'd like to take a moment to extol the virtues of Prayer of Mending. This is by far my favorite of the new Priest spells, more so even than Shadowfiend. Why? It's instant, it's a heal (and I'm a healer at heart), it lets you heal the suicidal Rogue without taking attention away from the tank, and it's crazy mana efficient. With my relatively paltry +750 heal, I get 5.27 hpm (healed per mana) from Greater Heal 7, and 4.19 hpm per target from Prayer of Mending. That means if I hit even two targets with PoM, I've left GH's mana efficiency in the dust -- and it's not uncommon for my PoMs to hit all five possible targets. And let's not forget that PoM's instant cast makes it easier to stay out of the five-second rule. It's also great for panicked self-heals, like when I'm soloing and running away or when I've fallen in lava or something. And I imagine it's good in PvP, though I haven't PvPed at all since BC. In short: PoM rocks, and MendWatch lets you watch it rock.

I'm using it.. and it works like a charm... and keeps you updated on the location of the little buggarh! (so that it doesn't end up on someone whom it wont benefit...)

I love this addon so much, the moment I hit 68 I went out to find it (it was discussed on the beta forums once) and haven't looked back.
Aside from it's amazing application in bouncing off meleers who get cleaved in fights, Prayer of Mending has dozens of cool uses!
In heroic instances, keeping one on a Meleer will save them from a one-shot if they pull aggro, making it a very inexpensive shield that will then bounce right onto the tank for a free heal!
There's also an amazing synergy to be found with its unique threat mechanics and a Bear tank.
The Black Strider in Heroic Underbog is the meanest encounter I've ever seen 5-man. Whereas other Heroic encounters basically say "My numbers are bigger than yours, enjoy", the Black Strider spawns adds. Dozens of adds. Dozens of 6kHP, Unsheepable, Unfearable, Unsnareable, Un CC'able adds who lightning bolt for 1k each time. The fight becomes an absolute carnival in a few short seconds.
Since it's impossible to kill all the ads fast enough whilst DPSing the boss (3 spawn every few seconds and there is NO top limit, we had like 20 at one point) The only solution is to nuke the lofty tentacled git for all it's worth in the beginning stages of the fight and then get aggro off the priest when the ads spawn.
The problem there? The sheer amount of DPS necessary means that the tank needs to establish an ungodly amount of threat in only a few seconds, not easy for anyone. That's where Prayer of Mending comes in :D
Prayer of Mending's threat is generated in such a way as that when it proccs, the instant heal on the target is treated as if it has been cast potion-esque, by the recipient. In other words, you heal yourself for 1.3-4k
So.. Free agro for the tank at the start of the fight.. If only it wasn't expensive to spam. Well, even though I don't have the Healing Prayers and Mental Agility talents, mine's only 390 mana a cast and the tank just happens to be a druid.
So here's the solution: Innervate on the priest at the start of the fight, tank runs in, priest spams Prayer of Mending trying to use up his ridiculous mana regen and not only gets 0 threat for about 12 seconds of healing but actually gives the tank a massive amount of threat! Cue Bloodlust and NUKE :D
