Patch 2.0.7 live
Well, now we know why they had to bring the realms down for maintenance today: to implement the most boring patch in WoW history. As far as I can tell the patch notes are the same as those from the test realm (except for a slight change in the fix to teleport to the Shade of Aran). They're after the cut anyway, because I love you readers too much to make you go clicking too far to get your patch notes.P.S. I suppose technically the patch isn't "live" yet, because the realms are still down, but "Patch 2.07 now available via Blizzard Downloader" sounds like a bad radio ad, so I had to take a little headline liberty.

Seems like this is Blizzards "20 reasons we should have waited to release the expansion" patch. You're right about it being boring. I almost fell asleep reading the notes.

anything good for us Warriors? please?

Please tell me that the Darkcasters no longer burn over 4000 mana per cast. That's the only really hard thing about this instance; currently I switch my armor to all "of shadow protection" items as soon as we see a group with one, and that's a bit over the top for non-heroic mode trash.

Not to mention this is the idiot patch that fixes the COD mail problem. Which isn't a problem if you ask me. If someone is dumb enough to open a COD message from someone they don't know, then they should pay for their stupidity. But no, intellectually challenged people seem to have a larger voice these days, and rely on other people in higher positions to compensate for their stupidity. Why do we change the world so stupid people can exist without having to think, instead of making the world tougher to weed them out.

The one that I have been waiting for is changing to the correct defense channel, i'm sick of seeing all of the hellfire tower "captured by the alliance" when i'm in negrand.
James Feb 13th 2007 11:54AM
Glad they can limit the number of key fragments for Karazhan, etc. BUT THEY CAN'T FIX THE FREAKING DOOR THAT MADE US NEED TO DO THIS!!
Bodarim Feb 14th 2007 8:41AM
what the hell does retuned mean? did they debuff the mobs or buff the mobs? well guess ill find out tonight in mana tombs
Trasketor Feb 13th 2007 12:28PM

the worst thing about this maintenance?? i'm home from school day on a snow day...can't log in until 2 PM!!!
Pritchard Feb 13th 2007 12:37PM
Because #6, there are little kids playing this game...you know, a VIDEO game...who may not yet have your developed sense of fraud detection. They may just think they're getting something cool in the mail from the game.
Jamus Feb 13th 2007 12:38PM
What is the size of this patch?
crsh Feb 13th 2007 3:05PM
Well the COD "issue" is a non-problem to me, just look at what you click on; must be the same people who complained about Griftah's amulets in Shattrath City.
Eliah Hecht Feb 13th 2007 1:00PM
Jamus: it's small; my WoW-2.0.6.6337-to-2.0.7.6383-enUS-patch.app is 4.8 MB.
Jay Converse Feb 13th 2007 2:23PM
Also, #6, it's not like you really lose any major functions with this change. I mean, seriously, who other than someone trying to scam somebody would send a wrapped package as COD? If it's wrapped as a gift, why would you charge someone for it?
moink Feb 13th 2007 2:32PM
It may be boring, but many of these fixes are very important. Nearly my whole guild got the gift-wrapped COD scam e-mail, and while most people didn't accept it, one guildie accidentally clicked the wrong button while she was simultaneously checking her in-game mail and cooking dinner. I'm glad Blizzard fixed it. Guildies have also had problems with the Fel Reaver spawning underground and they can't loot it.
Not all patches need to bring excitement into our lives. Some just fix the problems we all complain about, and demand that Blizzard fix immediately.

Once again Warlocks get the nerf and it's nowhere to be found in the patch notes.
They hotfixed the imp's damage to crap a couple of weeks ago because it admittedly was a little out of hand. Demonic Knowledge was giving the imp close to double the appropriate amount of bonus damage and as a result, there were some 500+ DPS monsters rolling around. So they pulled the damage coefficients and promised they'd have it operating as normal when the patch came around.
Well, the patch is here they fixed the DK bug but they also changed the imp's coefficient to well below what it was without the broken DK bonus. In addition to that, they halved the effectiveness of the Improved Firebolt talent. Improved Firebolt was broken for two years; only the first point did anything, the second was worthless. In 2.0 they finally fixed it and made the second point work. But in 2.0.7, they now make us spend two talents on the same effect we got for one point before.
Now all of this would be forgivable (I don't even like the imp) if they'd just put it in the damned patch notes! I'm tired of this crap. Almost every patch has some small but significant change that they don't feel is important to tell us about. I just want a bit more transparency. Is that too much to ask?
Logic Bus Feb 14th 2007 3:06AM
Anyone else find that the Entangling Roots spell is broken as of 2.0.7?
YukonDawg Feb 14th 2007 12:43PM
@16-Logic Bus
Yup--Thought it was just me or my server, but Entangling Roots is broken. I think that may have been the reason for the hot patch this morning but haven't checked yet.
