Breakfast Topic: Best 2v2 team
With Arena season starting today, I'd like to hear your ideas for the best 2-person team. Yesterday, Etek suggested Warlock and Priest, which would be nice for longevity -- Priest heals Lock, therefore Lock can DPS forever; or if the Priest is shadow, as would probably be optimal, Shadow Weaving will help the Lock's DPS, and Vampiric Embrace will still keep him topped off. Another good combo that comes to mind is Paladin and Warrior. With nine classes, there are Filed under: PvP, Breakfast Topics, Features

Ï'm going to say Warrior/Shaman, just because I have played em both, and as a shoman I loved teaming with a Warrior, and now as a Warrior I LOVE teaming with a shaman
I would probably fear Warlock/Priest or Hunter/??? the most

i also think warr + shammy or double shammy.

2 rogues..... nothing but stunning... if done correctly i reackon it would be pritty good

I'd go with Lock/Mage or Lock/Rogue. Who needs healing when you have crowd control. Any warlock packs enough mana/hp to convert to mana to be able to take out 2 players, so long as the lock isn't being attacked. Sheep/sap one player, and fear/seduce the other. Then pick them off one by, well, the other one.
The lock/priest combo could be useful for fights you expect to take a long time, but with the low hp and cloth armor of both these classes, I don't see many long fights developing.

Feral druid + Marksmanship Hunter. Not only are both classes strong in solo pvp, but their party buffs (LotP and Trueshot Aura) help the other player nicely. Only weakness about this grouping is a lack of fearing abilities and resistances to fear.

And the hunters of the beasts of Azeroth shall rise up and smite the mighty warriors and the mighty locks and the mighty shamans. The frail rouges their beasts shall chew to bits, and the cloth with fare no better. Dual BM hunters FTW

Hunter+ Druid
hunters have freezing traps, etc and druids can do anything, stealh, tank, or heal; and you have the hunter's pet

Mage and rogue, sheep one, stun lock the other, melt his face. Then repeat on the sheep.

45 possiblities, not 81. (preist,warlock) = (warlock,priest)

druid/rogue combos will be pretty sick I bet

So what's a good arena pair up for a druid? I could heal and hit 'em from the other side with my treants from Force of Nature, but they only last for 30 sec.

Whith the new crowd control changes in the arenas, I think the sheep/fear/sap will be overrated. I don't know much about the shammies, but I could see the resto shammy with any other shammy doing very well. I cant argue with 2 rogues either. Something tells me that the best team will be made of 2 different classes due to the variation in available skills and tactics. While a pair that are very good with same talents will be nice, I think a little diversity could be just the edge needed to win those close battles. I see some pairs as being highly inferior though...but I dont think anyone would make a team from a pair of prot warriors or a couple oomkin.

I laugh at sheeping mages as I shapeshift out of sheep into moonkin form.

DURID/ROUGE LOLZ
Theres the ability to go pure DPS, to go DPS/Tank, DPS/Heal, plus the spell interrupts of the rogue and the crowd control of the druid (roots, hibernate, warstomp for horde) would make these two classes a long lasting team capable of putting out high dmg.
Zuuler Feb 15th 2007 8:53AM
Druids are vulnerable to more forms of crowd control though. Any animal form can be feared by hunters via fear beast. And their treant form can be banished by locks. So a good druid pair up is more dependent on spec and who you are fighting. Obviously would not be good to pair a bear and tree druid up against a lock/hunter combo. Banish is a nasty CC since I don't think there is any way to break it other than wait for it to break, and damage doesn't break it either.

We've been using an UD rogue w/ imp sap together with a holy/ret spec pally backing him up.
Nearly impossible to bring down.
Matt Park Feb 15th 2007 9:19AM
@10 - then they kill you first.
I'm going with 2 fire mages. sheep = 50% cut in party strength, then lots and lots of fire.
I don't think shamans are going to fare that well in arenas. No CC, plus a major aspect of their class (totems) force them to be stationary, which would be a huge disadvantage.

9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1=45 as someone already said.
Kang Feb 15th 2007 9:46AM
Arcane/fire mage and arcane/fire mage. Twin instant polymorphs + twin mega-damage pyroblasts = win.
Jenet Feb 15th 2007 10:57AM
Frankly, I could see lock/rogue going really well, especially if it's an affliction lock. 2 sets of 3 instacast dots with just about drop a warrior. The rogue wouldnt have to engage if there wasn't a healer, just wait out the dots, and play cleanup if need be.
Lock/Rogue with a felhound out would be good against stealth, and casters. fear/sap any humanoids and fear shifted druids.
That's why I recruited my rogue a long time ago to group with my 70 lock. Been running instances to get him gear and such, and with my lock at 10k health, I'm ready to rock any arena teams.
