Social guild events

One of the things my guild does is bi-monthly guild events. Every now and then we all get together and do something fun or crazy, and then get together in Stormwind or Darnassus to have a few ceremonial ales and /dance around the fireworks. We have a few people in the guild who set the events up, a few folks volunteer/get drafted to help out, and everyone has a good time. No real guild progress is made, no huge bosses downed, just general craziness and fun. We do occasionally n00b races, where we have members make level 1 alts, summon them to a secret location and have them run to another secret location, usually PvP flagged (with some of our experienced PvP'ers riding shotgun to prevent any spawn camping). Gift swaps during the holidays, and so on. Does your guild do any fun social events? Got any concepts I can steal...uh...use with appropriate credit?

spelling "Die, fucker, die" in the sky w/ as many flying mounts as you can find, and following the guild asshole for several hours.

A guild I used to be in on Spinebreaker would all gather at a rise in Thunder Bluff, strip down to our tabards, and jump off, seeing how close we could get to our GM (there was always one asshole priest or mage who would cheat using Slow Fall and Levitate). The winner got a couple gold, and it usually disbanded after the drafted rezzer brought everyone back and everyone hearthed, saying "Well, that was stupid." A good time was had by all.
Maybe you could pull a Serenity Now and gank a funeral.

I wish my guild was that cool. I recently quit due to the fact that my guild was so uninvolved with any of the members. Things started fine, but then the Guild Leader became a tyrant, people stopped talking in guild chat, and then the quitting started.
Hopefully the next guild I find will be that fun.

My Guild Peoples has what we calls Flight Path Parties. The guild gets together and we runs around with High levels and low levels helping the low level peoples gets flight paths them wouldn't normally get till them is much much bigger. We recently had an Outland Flight Path Party and we gots a Lvl 15 to Area 52! It was oodles of fun as we had a 36 people Raid Party with lots of us 70's taking lots of them lowbies to new and exciting places in Outland while them gathered new flight paths! /cheer

My guild has been known to have a nekked gnome race. Our first one was going from IF to Org bank. It was really fun. We gave away 1st 2nd and 3rd place prizes of Gold (donated by officers), enchantments, bags etc. and whatever any players wanted to donate.
This is especially fun and challenging on a PvP server might I add!
Rules are pretty simple. Start up a new toon at gnome/dwarf starting point, get it to IF entrance (usually dying once). Get nekked. Get to Org bank first using any path you wish.
The only rule we didn't manage figure out until it was happening was "You can't die and run dead all the way and respawn at the closest point to the end of the race!". You also need to keep an eye on any exploits. Usually 3 or 4 people to follow and monitor is good to have. A druid or Rogue will have to get into the orgrimar bank.

We had a scavenger hunt once. You had to find obscure things like those little cat statuettes in the ruins north of Auberdine.

Haven't actually done this yet...it's very set-up intensive. I thought it might be fun to do an "Amazing Race" style thing with 10 teams racing around the World of Warcraft. There would be Detours and Roadblocks, and the pitstops would be at various inns, with the last team to arrive at the pitstop being eliminated.
Maybe someone with a bit more time on their hands will implement this brainfart--er brainstorm.

Level 1 gnome race from IF to SW...the LONG way.
Ironforge -> Dun Morogh -> Loch Modan -> Searing Gorge -> Black Rock Mountain -> Burning Steppes -> Redridge Mountains -> Elwynn Forest -> Stormwind

We stole this from someone else, but one time we did a 40man gnome raid on hogger.
Just seeing 40 gnomes running around is pretty entertaining in and of itself.

I love the IF to Org Bank run that is a great one... Also really like the scavenger hunt idea. I used to run a guild of about 300 members and at our peak we did dueling tournaments. Had it broke down into level brackets every 10 levels and assigned an officer to oversee each bracket. the 1-10 winner got 5g; 11-20 winner got 10g; the 21-30 winner got 15g; the 31-40 winner got a mount; the 41-50 winner got 30g and the 51-60 winner got an epic mount. This was back when the mounts were the expensive part and training was cheap and unequipped mounts were not soulbound so our guild bank had a few. All the gold came from the guild bank as well. anyway it was really fun and everybody in the guild loved it. we all competed with all our alts including me!!

At Halloween last year, my guild stocked up on wands. Then, after a raid one night, we all transformed into bats and flew around invading Alliance towns. It was insanity!
Another time, before I joined, they did scavenger hunt though STV. The leaders dispersed 3 selected guild members throughout the zone, and the goal was to find each one, open a trade to get an item and receive a clue to find the next member. After the 3rd item was picked up from the last stop, the final clue was given to find our GM and finish the race.

When the dark portal opened, we all meet up at Stonard, got naked, mounted up and walked towards the dark portal in a train. Everyone followed the person in front and it looked fricken cool!
Also, we once did "whack a wombat week" where everyone in my guild was constantly pvp flagged, Alliance were giving points for ganking us then posting screenshots on the WoW forums. Heaps of fun, and heaps on whacking!

Races through Deadmines, first one out the other side wins. Can be made more challenging by going naked and/or escorting a level 10 character.

@13
Devilmachine, you wouldn't happen to be part of the Mortal Wombats of Khaz'goroth-H?

I recently joined an amazing guild on Perenolde, the Sleeper Cartel.
http://sleepercartel.com/
They have a weekly guild night, where guildies can pay 20s for tickets for a 50/50 lottery, with 50% going to the lucky winner and 50% going to the guild bank.
Last week, we held it in Moonglade to celebrate the Lunar Festival, and then downed Omen. Good times.
Rascelle Feb 22nd 2007 7:17PM
In regards to the Lottery, isn't that against the games terms and conditions becuase it's seen as a form of gambling? That's what I gots told by peoples. Maybe them was kidding me and being mean. Can any peoples confirm this?

Personally, Id rather play "tea" with a bunch of dolls....
Why would I want to waste hours with a bunch of people I really dont know outside of WoW, setting off fire crackers and drinking ale?
Seems like the most pathetic thing in the world to do.
IMO, you should have logged off and gone to hang out with your real world friends, if you havnt lost them all by now doing in-game "tea partys"
Come on folk, playing this game 4+hours a day is enough. Stop, grow up, and turn the game off when your not doing something productive in-game like actually playing.
Im an Officer in a guild, and if anyone tried to set this up, Id be like.... "I quit, you bunch of carebear nancys."
