Let's say you raid Karazhan at 70, regular Kara is fine. I don't think it requires Heroic mode. When you down a boss, a token/item drops for your class. You win the item then you turn that in at the vendor in Shatt and she gives you your item. The vendor actually shows what kind of token you need to redeem the item. Or it did before 2.4 patch. I'm no expert on it but that's what I get from previous runs in Kara. My set is the Season 1 Arena pvp set and I do just fine on raids.

Here is about those tokens. I'm lvl 70 mage and many heroic instances as well as Kara. Tokens are actually called Badges. They only drop in Heroic mode and dunges that only allow lvl 70 players such as Kara. We usually run 3 bosses an evening. One boss drops 1 badge, and other 2 bosses drop 2 badges each. Each player gets these badges (there is no need/greed/bid on these badges). So we all end up with 5 badges that evening. You need many of these. Why? For my lvl 70 mage U purchased a trinket at Shatt vendor for 45 badges. That is lots of running heroics, Kara and simmilar raids. So it took me about 10-12 runs to get just a trinket. Now its up to how much time you have to do this. If you need good pants they can run you 100 badges. That is lot's of raiding. I hope this helped.
