Breakfast Topic: A little tune to set the mood
cadoret over on the WoW Livejournal asks for some good music to listen to while capturing the flag in Warsong Gulch. cad wants some "badass, probably techno/house" music, but for some WSG matches, I really feel Benny Hill sets the mood quite well. But seriously, what's good music for anything in Azeroth? Last time we discussed this one, David said he watches TV while playing more than listening to music. and while I do that quite often, I've also been known to squeeze in a podcast or two while grinding away. Truthfully, when I listen to music while playing, it just tends to be whatever I've been listening to lately-- I don't actually choose, say, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack to accompany my epic quests.
But what about you? Do you listen to music, or need a certain genre for PvP or grinding? During instances, I tend to keep background noise off-- I figure I owe it to the people I'm with to pay attention. But while grinding on my own, anything goes. What's on your WoW playlist?

Mastodon's Blood Mountain is a great soundtrack for solo grinding. "Hunt for ogres and dwarves..." Great music if you're into the metal.

It depends on which character I play. I love Hans Zimmer soundtracks for my pally, industrial for my druid, and Tool/A Perfect Circle for my hunter. Instances get the Lord of the Rings soundtracks.

I have a WoW playlist that has the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack on it, as well as some Hans Zimmer stuff (The Rock, Gladiator, etc). I think the Metal Gear Solid 2 theme is in there as well.
I like epic music, it puts me in the mood.

I love listening to some good old prog Metal. Shadow Gallery, Vanden Plas, Dream Theater etc. Especially when i'm grinding or repping.
Although i had an X-Japan dvd on yesterday while playing and i found i was too distracted because it was so awesome that i kinda kept getting killed :(

I usually play in my living room, on my couch (Dell Inspiron 9300, 1GB, ATI RadeonM) while watching my son, who is two. My soundtrack is 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. Occasionally, it is something Sesame Street ('C is for Cookie') or Curious George. Nothing like downing bosses in Underbog while Elmo talks to Mr. Noodle.

I usually play some other game soundtracks. I love to mix and match with other game's music, especially console RPGs. It yields very impressive results. Sometimes the music feels even more appropriate than the default game music O_o

Jeff Buckley got me through the Last guild Kharazahn run.

Pretty much anything I do in WOW, you will usually find me listening to Digitally Imported stations on ShoutCast radio. That station is pretty much non-stop trance which is perfect for pretty much any long repetative rep grinding, or some crazy PVP (WSG) action.

I made up a WOW playlist. Some of the songs on there are:
In the court of the crimson king - King Crimson
NWO - Ministry
In the Heart of the Sunrise - YES
Where Eagles Dare - The Misfits
A Drug Against War - KMFDM
Raining Blood - Slayer
Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun - Beastie Boys
Liquid Swords - GZA
and much, much more.
Great for grinding.

I listen to a lot of different music while playing WoW. I don't select mood music; however, I do have certain songs and albums that I associate with WoW, because I listen to them most often while playing. I listen to techno (mostly Ministry of Sound compilations, with some other stuff), Van Halen, and Christian music. I do have some music that I associate with a particular zone, which is Buddha-Bar for Un'Goro Crater.
I also listen to the occasional podcast (1UP Yours ftw), and often watch tv/movies. I usually choose movies that I have already seen, or that don't required undivided attention to enjoy. Given the time of day that I play, I generally watch The Daily Show, and the Colbert Report while playing.

I have a rather strange mix of metal, silly classic pop songs like Walk Like an Egyptian, and crappy college wussrock on my playlist. Most of it I just find mildly entertaining, some of it I genuinely like.

Either ingame music, or some variety of DVD or show I torrented recently.

somafm.com ftw! Good electronic stations that fit more occasions (IDM for my DPS toons, drone and ambient for my priest)

I usually listen to my 'Songs featured in Scrubs' playlist usually. Either that or I have a DVD playing in my portable player next to my computer. But when I hit up a jungle area (STV for instance) out comes the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks.

"Why can't we be friends?"
...while grinding...

I own my own company that promotes and books local artist, so I'm usually listening to one of my boys.
I personally really love acoustic, so I listen to Ryan Neal English or Joe Purdy alot. Here lately I've been into a lot more of punk group The Wish You Weres (local guys who are about to break the world record for longest concert with a 50 hour gig)
I think this question is hard to officially answer though. Changes from person to person.
