Breakfast Topic: A little tune to set the mood
cadoret over on the WoW Livejournal asks for some good music to listen to while capturing the flag in Warsong Gulch. cad wants some "badass, probably techno/house" music, but for some WSG matches, I really feel Benny Hill sets the mood quite well. But seriously, what's good music for anything in Azeroth? Last time we discussed this one, David said he watches TV while playing more than listening to music. and while I do that quite often, I've also been known to squeeze in a podcast or two while grinding away. Truthfully, when I listen to music while playing, it just tends to be whatever I've been listening to lately-- I don't actually choose, say, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack to accompany my epic quests.
But what about you? Do you listen to music, or need a certain genre for PvP or grinding? During instances, I tend to keep background noise off-- I figure I owe it to the people I'm with to pay attention. But while grinding on my own, anything goes. What's on your WoW playlist?

Some good electronic music to accompany grinding, circa my college years:
Four Tet - Rounds
Amon Tobin - Supermodified
Kruder and Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions
For PVP you should check out the song "Kicker of Elves" by Guided By Voices.

I think my girl and I listen to that Mastodon album once per WoW session. I also tend to listen to a lot of Ninja Tune-ish stuff on Pandora.

I'm a big fan of orchestral movie soundtrack, so if I do listen to something it's probably that, with WoW I tend to listen to epic "fantasy" type music to stay in the genre, LoTR and the such.
But to be honest, I like to just listen to the in-game music mostly. Just like a movie, it does so much to set the mood and the feel of the zone you are in. I sometimes even listen to WoW (and BC's) soundtracks when I'm working so... personal thats my deal...

Personally, Firefly, Futurama, Sopranos... various movies... and thats if I get control of the remote control... if no control, which is 95% of the time, due to the clause of boyfriend gets no remote, I am stuck watching Laguna Beach and the hills and the food network and such... *sigh*

@#2 - Wait 'til you have more than one kid. They make their own special sound track. I have three boys, aged 7, 5, and 3. It's usually not too musical, except when my 5 year old is "composing" on his keyboard.

I'm a big theatre dork, so I usually put my musical playlist on shuffle and go from there. Nothing beats wanding through BRD while belting out a showtune :D
I also like to listen to audiobooks when I play, but only if I've already read the book physically. I can't do a first read on the audiobook.

Best song ever for PvP is Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth by Marilyn Manson..try it sometime!

I like to have my TiVo running some rerun that I don't need to pay too close attention to while playing... usually something contemporary with a mystery focus, so it's completely unrelated to the fantasy setting of WoW. Alas, I end up in a situation like Hank's when my six year old plays A Dog's Life or watches Mythbusters ad nauseum.
