Around Azeroth: The twilight grove

I leveled my first characters during a time in which these massive world dragons did not exist, and therefore when exploring Azeroth I never accidentally ran into one. I can, however, imagine how shocked I would have been to be wandering around Duskwood and accidentally bump into this unfriendly fellow. Says reader Snow of Norgannon, "About a second later, it turned toward me and I got the heck out of there..." Good call!

Yea, he scared the shit out of me too. My first char (a paladin) ran into him at lvl 24, I figured he would be just like the other mobs in that area ("what's that golden dragon thingy next to his portrait anyways!? :S" :P) so I ran into him...
It only took him one swipe with its tail...

Heh, reminded me, when I was in Azshara and recently got me a quest reward: "Mechanical Yeti" - a 10 minutes lasting lvl 58 summonable creatue (3 charges). If you did the quest you will remember those over-zealous creatures attacking anything that could be of any danger to you.
Well I was killing elite giants for Giant Silver Veins (quest from BRD) and then I saw this huge dragon coming by - you guessed it, it was Azuregos (outdoor raid boss) I was mesmerised at first and then I wanted to high-tail out of there when I realised he was yellow (not hostile) to me. So I let him come closer to me to get a better look when I noticed my Mechanical Yeti scramed in rage (well maybe buzzed in rage) and dissapeared in bushes. I was kinda shocked at first not comprehending the situation. Then I put two and two together, switched to my travel form and begun to run away - alas too late. Last thing I remember I was two hitted by enraged ?? huge dragon.
The most horrible thing probably was, when some lower lvl human mage came to look at the (dead) fool trying to solo outdoor raid boss. I was really ashamed, lol, and really glad he was gone by the time I returned from my GY run. I guess only thing that would be worse would be accidentally "pulling" the Azuregos by TAB+Faerie Fire "misclick" that happened to me few times when my fingers get ahead of my brain when pulling new monsters in my grinding spree ;))

I was in the twilight grove yesterday and I didn't see any dragons. I looked around and even went right up to the portal.

The dragons spawn in a number of different locations, or he could have been killed lately by a guild. The dragons take a while to respawn.

I miss the world dragons.. at one time, they had awesome pre-BWL loot worth scouting and rushing forth for (not to mention great NR gear for AQ40 before Blizz finally made quality craftable NR gear available through Cenarion Circle).. with BC out, they're part of the wasted/abadonned raid content in the old world, kinda sad.

i ran into him once there, then a ton of lvl 60s can to kill it...quite a show when u first start playing the game. what is that portal for anyways?

@7 - yeah, I was wondering what the portal was for too, I tried running through it, but just ended up breaking my nose on the wall on the other side ;)
The surrounding area seems like part of the Night Elf areas - I guess it's something Blizz will make use of in the future?

The portal is one of the entrances to the emerald dream, which may or may not one day be part of a content patch/expansion.
