Breakfast Topic: The class to be in 2.0.10
Love it or hate it, everyone's got opinions on the 2.0.10 patch -- not all of them positive. So with some classes going up and other classes going down, what do you think is the class to play this patch, in PvE, PvP, and anything in between? Some classes -- druids and priests -- seem to come out the clear losers in this battle, but the question of who comes out on top is less clear-cut, with no single class receiving overwhelming improvements. One class to rule them all -- but which do you think it is? Let us know what you're planning on playing by the time 2.0.10 makes the live realms in the comments.

For PvP I believe that all the classes except for priests and warriors should be playable in the new patch, the reason I say so is that no matter what a priest does/spec he/she will always be focus fired. Warriors on the other hand do have some viable techniques now in the new patch... but there are too many ways for most classes to defeat them.
The best classes for PvP still continue to excell aka mages, hunters, rogues & warlocks.
Just my two cents,

I'm actually not that upset with the nerfed vampiric embrace, with the imped version it really is quite owerpowered. What I am upset about is that these things aren't done the other way around, implemented with lower numbers and then buffed when considered too weak. Just like the whole fuzz about the warlock imp damage, Blizzard should take extra caution to avoid nerfs of all kinds.

Shaman still owns. Warrior got a little better, but not enough for me to get back going with him.

Rogue ! simply because it is a class that hardly ever gets nerfed, but has its imba aspects.
At the end of the day when it takes so many hours to get to 70 now, i dont think many people will switch class because of nerfs.

So they nerfed dire bear, but they boosted moonkin. All they did was trying to make balance and feral even specs. I'm even now considering going towards moonkin once I hit 40.

Answer to Poster #5
I am a Druid and although I never had aspirations to tank nor did I use my dire bear form much (mostly dpsed in cat)I was still starteled by the nerf, so I quickly respeced moonkin just to get a feel for it.
I had some decent +spell critical gear and ended up with a modest 25% spell crit rate. Given that I did not invest much time or money into this new form the gear and crit rate were sufficient enough to give me a fair idea of what a Moonkin is all about.
I quickly wanted to try it out in PVP, so I joined a battleground, and I can honestly tell you that Moonkin's survivability is same as that of a mage or a priest but without nearly as much dps.
I also participated in an instance run and the damage was modest but not nearly what I did in my cat form.
You may like it, but as far as myself I was all too happy to respec to feral and enjoy my class.
Even with the nerf, Druids are still and will always be my favorite class to play.
Druids rule all :D

I think Warriors are going to start returning as the buffs to them see across the board.

See, the thing about the nerfs to the Priest class... they hurt everyone else.
Leveling as a shadow priest I never get hurt. And if I do go down to 75% health after killing 5 or so mobs in a row I can just throw up a Vamp. Embrace.
The thing is that my desirability in instances has now gone down, though. I can't heal everyone else as much, so having a druid or pally main heal is a bit more difficult.
The least talked about, but probably worst nerf is the change to Silent Resolve. I've got it maxed out and I still pull aggro from other players. When it goes away... I can only imagine the constant world of hurt I will be in.

My main is a warrior, I respecced arms/fury for faster leveling to 70. In my opinion warriors never really left, but with adding thunderclap to def and having it cause threat... holy crap talk about an awesome ae tanking ability!!! I cant even begin to say how much better it will be to have that in tank mode. im talking pve of course. the experience I have is that rogues always have and always will rule pvp in bg's and general gankage.

My druid and shammy are probably going to go on the shelf until the pendulum inevitably swings back the other way on druids, and shaman get more improvements. Until then I'll be on my rogue or my warlock. Rogues are in good shape and probably about to get some minor improvements, at least to Surprise Attacks. Warlocks should be safe from the nerf bat for a while.

I think with the additional druid/priest nerfs that mages are going to be the "class of the year" for 2007.
There has already been constant QQing from other classes on the mage forums, and that is sure to continue as the nerf bat comes down on classing that are excelling at things meant for others.
And a warrior buff is hardly going to be a concern for a mage, who doesn't exactly have a tough time against the majority of warriors (appologies to the 2% of good warriors out there).
Personally, I think that mages deserve it; we *are* the dmg class, after all! Arcane is now doing respectable burst, fire is good at constant dmg, and for survivability frost is not only a viable pvp spec now, but probably the best.
Since the expansion I expected to see a flood of blood elf paladins, but to my surprise I've found that in the battlegrounds most of the blood elfs I fight are mages!
And why not? With a racial silence and mana tap, I'm going to have to predict (begrudgingly, since I play alliance) that the Blood Elf Mage will be the race/class of the year.
Just my 2 copper, of course :-)

I love my mage; I

Mages are just amazing in PvE and PvP. They are definately the class to be. I've done a good amount of instancing, pvp (BG and arenas)...mages rock in all accounts.
Hunters (myself) are pretty good as well, but our PvP dominance is easily replaced by mages. Our damage has not caught up to the stamina buff of everyone and deadzone becomes much more of a problem. Still strong class don't get me wrong, but much more vulnerable.
duromiir Feb 25th 2007 10:37PM
I have to admit, I'm still somewhat surprised.
Having my main (prot. warr.) feeling gimped until now was rather lousy but I never saw a need to nerf druids. If anything my hope was more one of Blizz "sharing the love" and just making TC usable in DS. My feeling about it is pretty simple: I have no problem with strong classes being around, so a nerf to one of them hurts us all.
This might also be because I'm luck enough to be in a great (albeit small) guild where the members help eachother out (yes, our feral druid and I ran 5 mans together and just split up the tanking duty with each pull, and it was great!)
Basically: Yay for us warriors, but Druids... damn, sorry friends... /pass a beer

Well played Warlock, - The Best and always will be.

NOt long ago there was an article in WoWInsider where someone from Blizz was saying that they weren't going to be messing with the classes anymore.
And now this happens??? I am absolutely furious with the druid nerf!!!
For the first time in history the feral druid is actually semi-useful and then a whole bunch of squealing children shout "Nerf druids" and DUH, Blizz goes and listens to them???!!
This is what really gets me fuming about Blizzard. They cow-tow to the those who shout loudest.
I'm even more frustrated because I can't get access to the WoW forums from work.
Please pass this message on to Blizz:
STOP F()CKING WITH THE CLASSES YOU ASSHOLES! JUST LEAVE THEM BE! JUST FOR ONCE IN YOUR USELESS LIVES, HAVE SOME CONVICTION AND JUST RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO MEDDLE!
Moloch Feb 26th 2007 8:19AM
@16
LOL! You want to stay overpowered while the Warriors fade into history. How selfish of you!
Slughorn Feb 26th 2007 10:57AM
Hunters FTW! We've been relatively well balanced since the expansion hit, and i've fallen love with playing my Hunter again ;)
Traps in mid battle, Misdirection and Silencing shot have really helped to enhance the game for us. Subtle but helpful abilities all.
Anroth Feb 26th 2007 12:45PM
@17
please, do shut up...
we druids were the joke of WoW for long time and as soon as we are shown some love those who always wanted the free honour start shouting imba, asking for nerf and such nonsense...
in truth what most of the non-druids fear is that the class one day might substitute any other. which is nonsense as well... what you want is the druid to be quietly in the back as a healing bot ONLY assuring that the pure classes ALWAYS have a place in raids...
you all know that, for example, if moonkin had a some more DPS and if it was a bit more mana efficient, who would want to take a mage? Ok, only for food, water and sheep... :D
seriously, warriors needed that buff badly but why nerf the underdogs that the druids always were just because the childish players, that seem to form the majority of our community, start QQing in forums because of the envy of seeing a so badly stomped on class getting some taste of power for the first time...
Was it the flying form???
gaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
Pritchard Feb 26th 2007 3:02PM
Yes, I'm sure with the creation of a game as complex and involved as this, Blizzard does nothing but listen to whomever shouts the loudest...yes, that makes sense. So all you have to do is go on the forums and type in all caps about how they need to buff druids. See...then they'll listen to you!
Druids were overpowered. They got their asses knocked back to where they should be. End of story.
