Do your item bonuses stack? You may want to double-check. [Updated]

They certainly haven't announced it very loudly, but when player Athas complained about mana regeneration numbers not adding up just right, Blizzard poster Eilanai responded saying it sounded like a known bug. (Who knew about it is another question entirely.) The bug? If you have two items with identical bonuses (i.e. two items that both give +6 mana per 5 seconds) they will not stack. Sounds kind of an important issue to me. Anyone else experiencing these issues?
Update: A post by Tseric seems to confirm that this bug is specific to mana per 5 bonuses. Tseric also informs us not to expect a fix in 2.0.10, but that it will be fixed in a future patch.
[Thanks, Jamie]

Actually, I just noticed this last night. I have the Scorpid Sting shoulders and the Gale Force belt, and only one of them is counting for the mana regen.
Primax Feb 28th 2007 5:35AM
Eep. This doesn't apply to stats I hope.

I have Enchant Chest-Mana Prime and Gloves of Prophecy both of which return 6 mp5 and only one of them has its bonus showing in my character sheet =/.
drew Feb 28th 2007 1:31AM
i have 4 items with 5mp5
Scott Feb 28th 2007 2:19AM
Wait, is this a known bug with
A) Items with the same amount of Mana/5
OR
B) Items with any similar bonus (+10def and +10def, for example)
While both are bad, one is far worse, can anyone clear that up?
Ben Feb 28th 2007 2:49AM
Yep. I should be at 141 mp5 and I only get 123. I was really excited to finally get revered with HH and get the awesome healing/regen enchant, but the regen bonus was completely nullified because I have another piece with 7 mp5. This is a really stupid bug that needs to be fixed, like, now. I've been trying to really boost up my mp5, but there's not much of a point the way things are now.
Depa Feb 28th 2007 5:14AM
This is far more than a stupid bug. This is very serious and it's astonishing that they should act normal over this being an "old bug". Well, if it's old it's because they LET IT get old.
This should be solved not later than the next patch. We bust our asses in the game trying to get items that sometimes will give us only a few mp5. And now we learn we're actually wasting our freaking time. That's just beautiful.

@6: I got some news for you, WoW is, by definition, a waste of time. It's a game. Games are made to waste time. The reason we all waste time playing WoW and not watching paint dry is because one of them is fun. If it ain't fun for you, I just repainted my living room, come and watch.

I'll assume that counts with gems as well? I just stuck 3 Dazzling Talasite (Intellect +4 and +2 mana every 5) in my chest.
So am i only getting +4 intell and +2 mana regen instead of +12 intell and +6 mana regen?
Jonathon Pop Feb 28th 2007 11:13AM
Well to be fair, this article only claims that Mana Regen is not stacking. So to compare I would probably assume that only MP5 and HP5 (healther/5 seconds) is not stacking. That being said.....
I CANT BELIEVE this hasn't got more of a response!! This Is a critical function of the game. MP5 is one of the deciding factors in Why People select the Gear they do. This is causing the destruction of millions of pieces of gear I gaurantee it. Let me provide you with a scenario to someone who did not know this bug was in place.....
Lets say I have 2 neck pieces. One Has + 13 INT, +55 Healing, + 8 mp5.
The Other has + 19 INT, +35 Healing, + 6 mp5.
Now lets say I choose the First because it has more +Healing. I dont need the other one So I vendor/disenchant it... But wait, I have another Item with 8 mp5 . so my item now is only +13int and +55healing, and the other has 6 mp5. but Wait I've just destroyed it. Guess we're all SOL...
So basically I've destroyed an item that I put my time and effort into, because I thought I had one that was better. One that the GAME told me was better, yet the actual math of it is broken, so I destroy an Item that would have been more beneficial to me.
This infuriates me. So can I now make a GM request to restore any item I have ever disenchanted like that? As a priest I can't tell you how many times something like this comes up. You dont want it to take up bank space, limited as it is. I can only imagine the amount of gear across all servers that has been destroyed in this manner.
Grrrr.....

I think it's in the same vein but last night I noticed that I couldn't use both my Arcane Intellect and my Elixir of Wisdom. It wouldn't even let me use the potion I had made so I just sold it.
Zuuler Feb 28th 2007 12:24PM
@11
Thats always been in the game, arcane intellect and potions don't stack, has to be one or the other, and if the one you already have on is more powerful than the potion, it won't let you use the potion.

Yes, this bug has been killing me. I have some details in a forum thread here:

Few weeks back i contacted a GM about my AP bonuses not stacking correctly for my rogue. Everytime i log out or enter a new zone my AP was lowered and i would have to reequip my armor to gain it back again. The GM asssured me that it is only a display issue and that the real bonuses are being calculated in combat. /whew. But it is startling to notice at first, just be careful on doing calculations with stats on char pane becuase there are some things that are still bugged and wont add up right.
Elizabeth Harper Feb 28th 2007 2:46PM
The only reports I've seen relate specifically to MP5 bonuses. However, the blue post is immensely unclear, specifically stating, "if you have more than one bonus which is identical, they do not stack." Now that sounds more general than simply an issue with MP5, but there's no specific confirmation one way or another.

That doesn't sound like a bug as much as a straight up logic error in their coding. And that's just plain stupid.
