Breakfast topic: Worst corpse run

WoW has a pretty lenient death penalty compared to other games. Ten percent durability lost and a ghost run to your body is peanuts compared to, say, forcing your naked self to run back to your corpse while that jerk who killed you loots all your items. Still, there are some pretty annoying corpse runs in WoW, whether due to inconvenient graveyards, bugged-out death spawns, or simple geography. According to this thread, the top 5 worst corpse runs are (in ascending order of annoyance, since the blog software won't let me do a Letterman-style countdown):
- Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, UBRS, LBRS, or BRD. Not a long run, but probably the run everyone's done the most -- and we've all fallen into the giant pit in the middle and made 39 other people wait for us at some time.
- Razorfen Downs or Razorfen Kraul. Set yourself on autorun and get a cup of coffee.
- Coilfang Reservoir, particularly for Alliance. Am I the only person who can never see where they're going in the tunnel in ghost form?
- Getting back to C'thun before they added a teleport near the beginning of AQ40. A 100 percent speed mount usable inside, and it still took five minutes of running through what looks like intestines.
- The cave in Ravenswood in the northwestern part of Blade's Edge. Whoever designed that area should be forced to run through a maze with sharp pointy spikes on top of the walls until they collapse. I waited until I had a flying mount to do the zone since I had heard about the death runs, but dying in that cave is still a soulkiller.
What's your least favorite corpse run? Or what's the easiest? (Dying in Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley takes about 15 seconds for Horde, which is nice.)

Amen to that cave in Blade's Edge. After dying there almost 10 times, I almost cancelled my WoW subscription.

Whatever you do, don't fall into a chimney in ghost form....
Did that in Alterac Mountains once, couldn't find a pally/priest to rez me for a few hours, and you can't get out by teleporting/hearthing due to you being dead and all.....

I jsut started a character on a PVP server after lvling a Warlock to 68 on a PVE server. So far, most annoying corpse run has been in Hillsbrad Foothills, where the constant ganking by high lvl alliance players who can't PVP at their own lvl so to make them feel better they one shot (or in some pathetic cases 2 or 3 shot) some low lvl horde player who has no way of defending himself.... anyway, the run.
Its not a far run, like was mentioned before for anything in Blackrock Mountain, but since you make the run from TM to Hillsbrad Fields so many times, it gets annoying. Especially when you clear mobs from around a named mob you need to kill, and just as you are about to start on the named mob, you get ganked, and after the short corpse run, all the mobs you cleared are back. Anyone else notice a low respawn time on mobs in Hillsbrad Fields?
Oh and for anyone who wants to comment to me to stop QQing, you're probably the ones who gank low lvl characters because you have no real skill and can't finght players your own lvl. Just remember, when I lvl up, I'll be hunting you. Hope you enjoy fear, cause I'll be dishing out plenty of it.

I ran Sethekk Halls last night and we wiped a couple of times. It was a pretty easy corpse run since all you have to due in jump down into the Ring of Observance.
The worst corpse run I ever experienced is when my guild attacked Darkshore and occupied the boat to and from Teldrassil flagged. We eventually died and moved on. Later I was in Blasted Lands and I was killed by that stupid black drake when for some reason my ghost appears in the Darkshore graveyard. That's the opposite side of the opposite continent.

Just another comment, what does having a flying mount have to do with corpse runs?

Ungoro Crater ... dying anywhere in the western side was a nightmare for corpse runs... especially with King Mosh ganking me all the time. Shudder!
Twinny Feb 28th 2007 8:30AM
blades edge mountains that cave was a nightmare, and the bloody costume falling off was the cause of it.
@1 dying 10 times to trash mobs in the same area also would have made me consider cancelling.

My most hateful corpse run has to be in Azshara. Doing the hunter quest to the west, just about to hand it in... fall down the cliff... die... run to corpse and res... run all the way back up... do the same again. If it doesnt break your spirit your a better man/woman than I was haha.

i know your pain zuller, and its not just ally, horde do it too.

Dying in the Hinterlands and appearing in front of the Spirit Healer at the graveyard in the Overlook Cliffs. What ever you do, DON'T fall off that cliff! I had to swim my ghost form out to deep see and "dye again" in order to get back!
Someone told me that there was a small pass that will get you back up into the Hinterlands but I never found it.

that cave in Blades Edge Mountains really made my hair gray... The developers should be forced to make this corpse-run 10 times a day before work, or something

Worst so far (and mind you I've only had the game a month), was when as a dranai lvl 14 shaman, I was taking the boat from Auberdine to Azuemyst, and the game glitched, killed me somehow, and then deposited me in the Stonetalon Mt graveyard. Truely a WTF moment :)

Anyone remember dying in the hives in Silithus?
You've fought your way down there, past the elite bugs, you've spoken with a scout, or found Mar'alith's wife, and you get a bad add and died.
Your ghost appeared in the Barrens, outside of the Crossroads. THAT was a long run.
Zuuler Feb 28th 2007 9:03AM
I know horde do it too, its just knowing that they are there for the sole purpose of your death that gets to me. It would be one thing if in passing they saw you and killed you, but there is no real reason for a lvl 70 to be in or heading through hillsbrad fields. I can understand them running past the yeti cave on their way to the AV entrance, but not hillsbrade field, durneholde keep, or azureload mines.

Good news everyone! They're adding another graveyard to Blade's Edge.
Annoula Feb 28th 2007 9:18AM
@5 The blades edge area is divided by massive spiky things which make it a bitch to navigate. Flying mount means you can just fly right over and avoid the stupid paths up and down the mountains.
Todd Feb 28th 2007 9:20AM
#5 - The Blade's Edge run is the worst!
Paranoia Feb 28th 2007 9:27AM
I'm a noob - lvl 32 lock, but I was trying to get to the base of Stonewrought Dam. I jumped from the top and died w/o a soulstone(dumb). I re-spawed in the Welands and spent way too much time trying to rez... Not the worst distance, but a lesson learned!
Zuuler Feb 28th 2007 9:33AM
I understand why having a flying mount would be useful for navigating blades edge mountains, but how does having a flying mount affect corpse runs? Can you mount your flying mount during corpse runs?
