The Warcraft Armory

What's the Armory, you wonder? Well, it's a new part of the official Blizzard site (currently in beta testing) that offers access to character profiles (for characters above level 10), guild profiles, arena team profiles, and arena ladders via the web. The nice thing about Blizzard doing this is that it's all integrated -- no extra software to install, no profiles to keep up to date -- Blizzard already has all of the information and has just given us a new way to access it. The only problem: the Armory website doesn't seem to be online right now. No doubt the cause of millions of players simultaneously trying to hit the site and see how it works.
Update: European players have their own version of the Armory, and it seems to actually function right now.
[Thanks, greatslack]

Well, I was able to search for current main, but once I clicked on him, it stopped.

Yah same here.

The europe link should be:

This has quite a bit of potential. I'd love to see it actually working. I can hardly wait to snoop on Horde I run into. This is going to be a great way to /inspect them - even if I can't do it in-game.

Once it actually works it'll be nice...

*In order to have your lifetime honorable kills displayed, you must have at least 1337 honorable kills.*
you have to be a 1337 PVPer to be ranked, lol.

If it updates as often as the forums, I have no doubt it will always be at least 2 months behind and broken a few times a week.

Oops. I fail at cutting and pasting today. Thanks for pointing that out, Brujo.

Anybody else think that this gives a lot of information that you don't necessarily want others to know?
James Feb 28th 2007 7:26PM
#8 I agree, especially talent builds. I think the extent of information displayed about a person should be optional.

I just wish the the American site worked. I suppose having the comprehensive info could be detrimental to the top placed teams though.
Look at it this way, to be the best put in some extra work and scout out teams that you may go against, or take the costly route and do a respec to keep them on thier toes!

My profile is finally working, and it wow, it's pretty detailed! I didn't exactly expect to see what buffs I currently have, for example. The Armory really looks like a nice way to check your gear, etc, when you don't feel like logging in to do it.

Yeah I'm a bit annoyed at the information that this tool shows...
Going up against an arena team, simply grab their char name and search it and Bam! you can see exactly what spec, and what items they have.
It does have some uses, however I'd really like the option to make profiles(character-sheets) more private... ie guildies only...

Could this be one of the first steps towards having the ability to access the AH and manage your inventory from say... an iPhone?
Finnicks Daerkhiv Mar 1st 2007 12:23AM
Oh man if I could manage my auctions from a web applet... check them from anywhere... that would be so... freaking... COOL!
The only hard part would be getting AuctioneerMod to work in a webapp... >.>

This doesnt seem to work, when i chose my toon out of a list of other ones with the same name on different servers it just comes up with an almost blank page. Looks like there should be some info, but when i search for my guildies its the same.

I tried this last night, and its only supposed to bring up characters lvl 10 and above, but when I entered my main's name, I also got a lvl 3 drainei shaman from another server.
Clicking on either one of them just went to another screen with no information at all, as others have posted.

I like it, but I don't like the fact that anyone can see your telents and percentages. I think for people searching you, not you searching yourself, you should only be able to see what an Inspect will show fundamentally. Reputation and skills ok, but I don't want people to know about my high crit percentage or how I got it.

I love it! What a great idea! It's so cool to see all this stuff right on the web, and blizzard seems to have done a clean job with this. I agree with everyone though, especially on PVP servers, this is a disadvantage to people who are really into PVP. I would like to see even more info, where my character has gone, what things he has done, essentially, "honourable mentions", killed this boss this many times, blah blah blah. I love the stats!!
