Breakfast Topic: Most annoying quest
Prior to the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, if you asked any player what the most annoying quest in the game was, you would probably have overwhelmingly received the answer, "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea." No, this isn't some high level epic quest -- it's just an underwater quest that seems to involve an inordinate number of murlocs. (And in my personal experience, if the murlocs don't get you, then you're likely to drown.) However, with the expansion release, and countless new quests in Outland, that may no longer be the case. (And there are, after all, murlocs in Outland as well!) While I can say that anything with murlocs ranks high on my annoyance scale, I can't quite decide on the most annoying of the new quests in the game. (And, even if I could make up my mind, I'm not sure it would be any more annoying than "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea.") So I'm asking you, dear readers, what's the most annoying quest in World of Warcraft today? And is it an old Azeroth quest or a new Outland adventure?

Oh, dear god, without a doubt it's the vomiting quest. The mobs respawn every 2 seconds, you are constantly vomiting from the rotten eggs, the drop rate is horrid....
Oh, wait, this game is fun?
I really don't think I was ever happier to finish a quest...
Sigh.

Anything with omg wtf drop rates.

I'd have to go with "use my trained pigs to dig up tubers" in Shadowmoon valley. Especially if there are more than a few people trying to complete it at the same time. >.

/agree with #1
I also have another choice, and it's not that they're a pain, it's the simple fact that Blizzard came up with these quests. I'm talking about those quests that have you search through or gather poop. WTF is wrong with Blizzard?

Wasn't something like this posted before, or similar? :P

Zuluhed the Whacked in Shadowmoon Valley. Not the quest itself- challenging, but certainly doable with a good group- but making sure everyone in the group gets credit. Accepting the quest immediately summons Zuluhed and his archers and starts the fight, so it's usually a matter of having the tank accept and pull Zuluhed to one of the side rooms. Thankfully, actually killing Zuluhed isn't a quest objective and only one person in the group needs to unlock the chains for the whole group to get credit, so if the tank loots the key then you're set- it's the post-fight process of getting everyone in the group to accept the quest and fly away so Zuluhed despawns that's so annoying.
Blizzard really should have given players a quest item to start the encounter, or the option to talk to Karynaku and summon Zuluhed when the entire group is ready to start the fight.

My least favorite quest was the Warlock's dreadsteed quest. I hit 60 two days after TBC came out and couldnt find a group for scholo or DM. I had to drop my 300 tailoring so i could take up skinning to get the scales. this quest was a pain.

Most annoying quest? Any escort quest. I hate them all, the escort is almost always bugged and sometimes you need 1 or 2 people to help you with it which sucks because I solo most of the time and can never get any help when I need it.

"Egg Hunt".
It gets me every time.

300 tailoring and you didn't have enough money to buy scales?
crsh Mar 3rd 2007 10:27AM
There are Murlocs in Outland what?!
Tumples Mar 3rd 2007 10:35AM
God Egg Hunt was awful, I hate those little bug things that spawn when you attack.
I also hated the vast majority of the Barrens, because there was a lot of kill x amount of someone or other.
monkeywraith Mar 3rd 2007 10:48AM
any escort quest. the npc you have to escort never walks at the same rate as you, you arent given time to rest, and the worst part, i can never heal them -_-.

Gah, I hated getting my Water totem Hordeside... but I guess that's sort of a chain, but still...

The absolutely most annoying quest is the quest in Shadowmoon Valley, "I Was A Lot Of Things..." which starts at the guy Oronok Torn-heart. This is a quest chain that eventually leads to an attunament. The quest is where you need to use a whistle that attracts boars to come and dig up tubers that you find on the ground. And at the same time protect the pigs from rock flayers. This quest took me a good hour and I swore many times. How can you come up with a quest stupid as this??

Trying to find Rexxar for the damn Ony chain...
Jp Mar 3rd 2007 11:39AM
'Maxnar Must Die!' For the aforementioned horrible corpse run if you screwed up and died.
Baluki Mar 3rd 2007 11:50AM
@15: You don't have to do that anymore, I guess. Rexxar is in Outland now, and there's a new NPC standing in Shadowprey Village (labelled as Champion of the Horde) who seems to be his replacement. Not that anyone is going to get attuned for Ony anymore...
@10: There's a horde quest where you get to "introduce" a box of baby murlocs to the Lost Ones in Zangarmarsh. It's hilarious. We can only assume that they eventually thrive.

It's 2 weeks since Launch, my group and I are busting through Wetland quests. We accept "digging through the ooze".
5 players. 1 Hour. 4 Bags dropped....
I killed a bunch of those slimes every time I passed on my way to 30 and eventually just dropped it.
Came back at 60 and blitzed those slimes with Original Flavour Holy Nova (20 second cooldown? You know it!). Revenge is sweet.
It's also notable quite how ridiculous the power difference is now between endgame and low levels, I guess it's only going to get worse :)

All level 6-10 Mulgore and Tirisfal Glades quests (just because of the area and how hard the quests were at the level). Also in Silverpine the quest to gather 6 of two kinds of items off worgens, the drop rate was so low it took me 4 hours to complete!
