Breakfast Topic: Favorite quests

Yesterday we talked about the most annoying quests you'd found in Azeroth and Outland -- so today we're talking about the opposite. Let's hear about the most interesting, most rewarding, and most out and out fun quests you've found in the game since the expansion's come out. My own personal favorite remains a fairly early quest in Terokkar Forest. Exploring the Cenarion Thicket for other quests, you're likely to run into the half-crazed Warden Treelos, who requests that you slaughter a beast he calls Naphthal'ar. Of Naphthal'ar, Treelos tells you:
If you can, convince it to come down for tea. But, by all means, get it to stop staring at me!
And once you have slain the beast, Treelos mourns:
It's for the best, really. If it cannot civilly accept an invitation then it has no business attending.
That little interaction makes me giggle every time I recall it, and -- for me at least -- makes an otherwise simple "go here, kill this" quest a memorable favorite.

My favourite is a level 19 or 20 that you get in Astranaar to kill naga and collect their heads.
Why?
Because it's one of the few quests in the entire damn game that has 100% droprate. You kill 20, you get 20 hears.
How are often are you pissed at killing boars that dont have livers or snouts? Gnolls that dont have hands. Murlocs that don't have head? Worgs that don't have tails. And so on. It never ends.
Except for this one, perfect quest.
/sigh

I really liked the Legend of Stalvan line, as well as the Missing Diplomat.
I prefer these story based ones, even if it is nothing to do with the lore.
The old hermit in Duskwood and the one about the item, cant remember its name, in the cave in Duskwood that brought the Black Riders, they were verygood too.

I really liked the whole Onyxia-chain (Alliance-side). It had drama, suspense, adventure and an incredible climax. The walk up to the castle is probably the most dramatic event in the entire game and I loved every second of it. And finally getting to kill Onyxia herself felt like the end of a good (albeight clichéd) fantasy-movie.

The bombing quests in HP were a nice change of pace. Sure, there wasn't as much of a sense of danger while dropping bombs, but it was neat to see large dmg numbers flash on screen, and it was cool to test my aim.

Having just started a draenei shaman i fell in love with a quest obtained at level 8. Its a chain where you have to go between different totems on the isle of exodar but with a twist. You run (following a furbolg) to the first one, then you get given wings (which applies a kinda slowfall effect) and have to jump off a cliff, walk across some water (part of the wings buff) to the next totem. This totem gives u a buff which allows underwater breathing and 150% swim speed, you swim down the river to the next totem. This totem turns you into a cat similar, if not the same, to the night elf drood catform. The effect this has is to increase your movement speed dramatically and make you invisible... how cool is that. You dart across the blurring exodar following another cat untill you finally reach the last point where u then recieve a "find x no. of keys from y creatures" type quest. I have to say this quest really did make my low level questing experience a lot of fun... something nice and different!

I must say I loved the 'kill Sironas' chain in Bloodmyst. It was awesome to see the way that all these NPCs you have helped on your journey to the late teens turn up to applaud you after you kill the big baddie of Bloodmyst Isle. I also really enjoyed killing the Dragon on Wyrmscar Island! Level 20 and a Dragon Killer already!

I love the quest in Tanaris where you escort the lost turtle back to his wife. The turtle actually runs at your pace, rather than you having to follow him. And when you get him back, him and his wife have the funniest exchange.

My favorite quest so far was one on Azyrmist Isle. I can't remember the name of it, but you basicly had to disguise yourself as a tree and spy on people.

Seems as if the Azuremyst/Bloodmyst Draenei quests are the most popular, and I'd have to agree. Even with me only having a level 12 Shaman, I'd still recommend these starter quests as fantastic.
Firstly, there's the totem quest No. 5 mentioned. How cool are all the buffs you recieve? nothing like that anywhere else on Azeroth!!
Then there's the Elekk quest, which for first-time gamers shows them the power they get at 60 with their epic mount, as before this there was nothing to simulate the feeling when you ride your mount for the first time.
I expect I'll find more awesome Draenei quests later on in Bloodmyst, as the one No. 6 mentioned sounds pretty cool too!

The Super Snapper FX where you get to take a picture of Gammerita.

My most memorable quest is also one of the simplest. On an island off of Azuremyst, you meet an elf staring off the edge of a dock whose family has been killed by owlbears, made crazy when a piece of exodar crashed through his house. He doesn't want revenge, just the return of their bodies. When you bring back the bodies, he tells you the name of his wife and daughter. It's the saddest thing I've ever seen in WOW. It made me pause for a moment.
On a similar note, one of the very first quests I did when I started playing WOW was to talk to a Forsaken, find the remains of his wife, and rebury them for him. Again, it's just a "bring A to B" quest, but with real emotional impact. This is what made me decide to upgrade my trial account.

Ogre Head on a Stick = Party. Need I say anything beyond the name?

Mine beats all of your favorite quests (no one can disagree either).
In Durotar, beating the hell out of the lazy peons with a blackjack, my old friend on Dunemaul didn't turn in the quest just so he could keep on beating them, lol. (Yes he was 60 at the time)

What about the quest chain in Shadowmoon that ends with you raining down fire and pwnage with a Fel Reaver? My god.

I like almost all the quests listed! How can I pick a favorite!
Annother satisfying quest is where you do a series of favors in Faldir cove and then you have to protect the cove from a naga attack. They have you man a cannon that one shots each naga. Considering that the quest comes on the heels of doing a quest where the naga wallhack through a ship while you try and recover certain quest items it felt so satisfying to kill them.

Let's not forget Tchulli's chain of quests in Blades Edge mountain. A troll head sticking out of a mound of dirt... apparently he was once friend to the ogres but they would pick on him by burying him up to his neck. However, this time they forgot him...
Go check it out. Funny stuff. :) Little mound of dirt kind of close to the front of Bloodmaul Outpost.

"Why do you chase me, Mechanical Yeti? WHY?!"
The Orc "Whack-a-Peon" quest in the starting area.
In the Barrens, Counterattack! because it can be easily soloed with a little thought.

Azuremyst Isle has some nice quests. Including the earlier mentioned Totem quest, but also 'disquise yourself as a tree to overhear a conversation!'
Lierni Mar 4th 2007 3:14PM
I'll go with the crowd on my favorite quest and say:
You are a tree! Shhh!
BiffSlamkovich Mar 4th 2007 11:24PM
@10: That quest on Azuremyst has at least one follow-up. Walk around that small island and you should be able to find another quest related to that one.
