AddOn Spotlight: TBag

When I compared EngBags and Advanced Bags Plus a while back, a commenter named Purity commended TBag to me in the comments. Well, Purity, I'm glad you did, because ever since I installed TBag, I haven't looked back. It's now one of my all-time favorite WoW mods, right next to ClearFont and TheoryCraft. Its features include:
- Customizable sorted inventory frame
- Customizable sorted bank frame
- Text-based searching of all your characters' banks and inventories
- Includes the bag bar in the inventory window, so you can easily swap bags without having to figure out how to restore the default bag bar that you nuked weeks ago because it takes up way too much space and you hardly ever use it

I LOVE TBag. My only complaint is that when you hover your mouse over items in the bags it doesn't show the LootLink vendor price...but it's so fantastic that I use it anyway.

TBag? If none of you guys get how that name is humorous I'm certainly not going to explain it to you...
Tumples Mar 8th 2007 4:46AM
Can we have more addon spotlights please, I really like installing good ones, so any help directing us to them is good for me.
(I get the name too ;)

I've been using TBag for a while now, also by following Purity's recommendation. It is a great addon - once you understand how to "tame it" and put it to your use.
IMO, EngBags had an easier way to set how items were grouped together, since you could see the "category" of the item by hovering it on Edit mode. I think that made it easier to debug ambiguous sorting rules...
Anyways, it would be great if you could also post a short tutorial on how to set the thing up and how to create a few rules, just so new users don't have to go through the pain of finding out how everything works on TBag. ;)
@ Symetrix - glad you didn't try explain the name, lol!
@ Tumples - agreed, more addon spotlight for the masses!

Have you tried vBagnon? I've sworn by that for a long time now, but I'll admit it's the only all-in-one bag mod I've ever used. It just so happened to do everything I could imagine wanting (custom sorting, single window inventory, item quality borders) and recent versions have introduced a lot of cool features, such as text searches.
Tbag appears to have a little more in the area of automatic sorting, and I know some days I get pretty OC with my item organization.

Thanks for pointing this addon out, Eliah. I'd be somewhat disturbed by not being able to see prices by hovering, but I will surely check it out tonight.

Item prices in tooltips work fine with WoWEcon.

How can I not have done a spotlight on WoWEcon yet?

I've been happy using Baggins. It comes already packaged with the Mazzle UI featured a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure its a FuBar add-on but it already comes with Mazzle. Tbag users, is this better than Baggins?

Will this mod stack things properly for you? It drives me crazy when I conjure 2 x 14 stacks of water, for example, and it takes up 2 slots with 14 waters each. That's what I'm looking for in a bag mod. Something that will find all my dupe items and stack them together, especially in my bank.
Please tell me TBag does this.
Bunkai Mar 8th 2007 9:59AM
MazzleUI FTW!!!
@9, Baggins stacks ALL items of the same type in a single slot, no matter how many you have.
Eliah Hecht Mar 8th 2007 10:02AM
BoBo: I use Mazzle as well; when I first installed it I tried Baggins for a little while, but I don't like the fact that it uses multiple "bags" (instead of just one frame) and it seems to require a lot of configuration to get working right. TBag is more compact and, IMO, works much better "out of the box."
mrRaist: Sorry to disappoint; TBag does not seem to do that. I also would very much like it if it did. Has anyone seen an AddOn that does?
Eliah Hecht Mar 8th 2007 10:04AM
Bunkai: I think that feature of Baggins is just graphical -- there's no way it can actually make 40 water take up one inventory slot. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what mrRaist was looking for is something that takes two stacks of 14 water and makes one stack of 20 and one stack of 8.
mrRaist Mar 8th 2007 10:10AM
@12, That is correct. I don't really care about water as I go through that stuff like gangbusters. I do care about the herbs that take up 2 spots in my bank and I have to hunt around to make a full stack. I don't care how many slots it takes up, as long as the mod consolidates it properly into stacks when possible.

For those concerned with the way items stack in their bags I highly recommend Mr.Plow it's a bags/bank organizing tool and has many of the features you seem to be looking for.
Halicante Mar 8th 2007 12:23PM
Wow it sorts out your quest items? I'm the goob who's always holding up group quests because I can't find the quest item I need to right click on in my bags. I'm so installing this tonight.
E Mar 8th 2007 12:59PM
Just tried it and I'm not that impressed. The icons are smaller (good) but don't scale well and look grainy. Think I'll stick to ArkInventory for now.
And yes, please more AddOn Spotlights!
res0nat0r Mar 8th 2007 1:47PM
tbad will autogroup stuff that is stackable, if you click re-sort it will max out your items that can be grouped together, ie (water, ore) will stack to 20 each if they are not already.
the one thing i want is to be able to change the sorting method easier. is there a way to change which item goes to what category? i thought the old version of this would let you change that but it doesnt look like this one does. you can change which -category- goes with which group, but not individual items.
what would be ideal is if i can just click edit mode and slide the item to a different number. before i think i had to use a dropdown menu, but this version doesnt even seem to allow that. am i missing something?

Bagnon + MrPlow FTW!

I never used any mods at all..for 70 levels, but then took over my guild, and had to keep track of the bank.. Tbag seems to be great for this. I love it, but what I am having a problem with is finding any site that tells how to edit Tbag. I have deleted toons, and their bags still show up on the drop-down menu. Anyone can redirect me to a site ABOUT Tbag and how it functions?
