Blue Notes: Seduction, Pet Health, and Old Hillsbrad
Crowd control is an important part of the BC instances, especially heroics, more so than it was in the old world. Polymorph, sap, banish, and shackle all play their part, but up till now Seduce has not been very usable in Heroic-mode instances. Set for a change, this is. Thus spake Tigole:In an upcoming content patch (2.1.0) Warlocks will be able to use their succubus to seduce many humanoid creatures which are currently immune to charm effects.
To clarify, the creatures do too much damage to allow them to be charmed (whether it be by a priest or by an engineer). Seducing them does not threaten the balance of the dungeon.
This will mostly effect heroics. And it only makes things able to be seduced -- it doesn't make anything immune to mind control that was previously charmable. It's not a nerf for priests. It's a bonus for Warlocks.
That makes some sense of why these mobs were no-seduce, too. And, as a healer, if there's one thing I love more than mana, it's crowd control.
Moving on, some players, myself included, have found that pet health bars are often stuck at full, even when the pet loses health, thus rendering it very difficult to monitor said pets' health. Though naysayers blame this on AddOns, the usual scapegoat for UI glitches, it turns out this was an actual game bug, and was hotfixed; the fix will apply next time your realm restarts. Tseric:
Party members should now see pet health bars update properly. This hotfix will take effect after a realm is restarted following the hotfix's deployment.
Several issues in Serpentshrine Cavern have been corrected. The Lurker Below should always spawn.
Finally, a player suggests adding more quests, possibly solo or small-group, to Old Hillsbrad in the Caverns of Time. I think that's a great idea, since I love the zone, and evidently Blizzard agrees. From Tigole again:
We'd love to add more quests to this zone. Hopefully, time will permit in the future.
We have some pretty cool ideas for Caverns of Time.
They've hinted at CoT expansions before; maybe that'll be the focus of 2.2. That's obviously too far off to have a hope of making accurate speculations, but...that's never stopped me before! For the second WoW expansion, by the way, i predict that all classes will be given a fourth talent tree. You heard it here first, folks.

Great! Now I will have to go into 3 talent trees as a priest in order to heal as effectively as a druid or pally.

"i predict that all classes will be given a fourth talent tree. You heard it here first, folks."
When people say "you heard it here first" it's usually not a prediction...hmmm....

A holy tree for the warrior class, a fury dw tree for the paladin, a separate cat/bear trees for the druid, a tanking tree for the rogue, BALANCE!

"It's not a nerf for priests. It's a bonus for Warlocks." Hee. Are the priests considered just a bit touchy, perhaps?

Now if they can fix hunters scatter shot so that it doesnt target the seduced/sapped/sheeped/shackled target, that would be great.
I love when a hunters scatter shot breaks my seduce and then I get blamed for not seducing my target.
The only thing though, is I have found that seduce doesn't work very well on elite mobs. Seems to break fairly quick compared to non-elite mobs. So I don't see how this will be a "bonus" to locks if seduce is just going to break in a short period of time anyway.

@8- U mean hunter's Multi-shot, and yes as a Lock i hate getting blamed when a multi-shot releases the seduced target.....yuck. and as for having a hunter as my alt..........don't use multi shot when there are CC'd targets in the mix. LOL, It's not hard to just not use it when you're in a raid KTHXBYE.

I wasn't sure of the name of the ability, I just know I've seen it. Along with their pets growl ability taking aggro off the tank, hunters are my least favorite class to group with.

Would be nice if they fixed the existing bugs in Old Hillsbrad in the Caverns of Time, before they try to improve it.
I'm after my Kara key so need to goto the Black Morass, but the run has now bugged with Thrall in the chapel every time i've tried. Getting very good at the first half of the instance now, but also getting rather annoyed.
Franchi Mar 14th 2007 10:43AM
@10. I think the majority of it would be the type of hunter you group with. Growl can be turned off and multi-shot not used quite easily enough so if they did do that, either cause they didn't know about taking the aggro from main tank or didn't think of it in the heat of the moment....or they were complete idiots which is always a distinct possibility too.
Zuuler Mar 14th 2007 11:03AM
While there are some "good" hunters out there, there aren't many. And there are a lot of bad hunters. I seem to always find the bad ones, which is why I am always reluctant to take a hunter in a PUG.
Its always them breaking CC, or their pet taking aggro off the tank, or they ran out of ammo, or they ran out of food for their pet. I think I have only ever run 1 instance with a hunter who didn't cause these problems. Its come down to I don't take hunters unless I know them and know they won't be a problem.
Xanderleer Mar 14th 2007 11:06AM
If they're going to do something like that to the scattershot...then they might as well make the same adjustment to the Thunderclap for Warriors.
Talitha Mar 14th 2007 11:15AM
O.K. If your pets growl can take aggro off of the tank, then the problem is with the tank. Of course growl should be off but if a pet can pull off the tank, then that's a bad tank. Yes Hunter's are one of the most played classes so that's why there are alot of nubs playing them. It's just because of pure numbers.
Thrillho Mar 14th 2007 11:30AM
#11: if your party starts attacking mobs before Thrall does, it can make him bug out. Let him aggro all mobs first. Hunter traps going off too early can also cause this problem.
Matt Mar 14th 2007 11:44AM
Please don't let a few bad hunters give us all a bad name. Some of us are intelligent enough to play to our strengths in an instance, and we occasionally have to deal with bad PUGs as well. How many times has someone broken a freezing trap by attacking the mob with aoe?

Buff Locks!!! We need it.
Seriously though, I am glad the buff to this was made. If I'm reading it correctly, it doesn't effect PvP, which is where most people would begin to complain about it. If it only effects mobs and helps groups in instances, its a win-win for everyone.
Good choice Blizz.

I even said not all hunters are bad. Just that when a boss has an AoE attack that only effects players standing in front of him, and your druid tank positions himself so the boss faces away from the rest of us, and the hunter's pet just somehow manages to pull aggro on itself right as the boss starts this AoE attack.... yeah, that can cause a wipe.
I enjoy grouping with hunters as long as they know what they are doing. Their pets hold aggro better than my VW does.
