I personally don't give a rip about them, but then I'm a casual player. I'm about to drop the cash on the standard flying mount, then I'm done. The epic is designed for people to spend even more time in the game paying subscription fees. People who took 2 weeks to farm 5000g might think about not playing video games 8-12 hours a day. lol! Personally, I enjoy sharing my wealth with lower level players in my guild, rather than stash it away for some flying digital p3nis extension.
If you plan to keep playing WoW into the foreseeable future, then go for it. I won't be playing the game long enough to earn the money, let alone enjoy the epic for any length of time. Quake Wars is coming :)
I know this post is cynical. I'm pretty burned out on WoW anyway. The expansion is way too easy to finish, and now we have a year or so to wait for the next expansion, which will make all these fancy items we are collecting useless again. I'm a few levels from 70 on my one and only toon. After I screw around at 70 for a while, I'm out. :)
