Breakfast Topic: What do I level next?
Throughout vanilla WoW I'd managed to create a small selection of alts that I managed to level all the way to 60. Since the expansion, I've been focusing on gearing out my main character, the irrepressibly cute gnome warlock pictured here. But what's next? I have a druid, warrior, and a hunter that I've leveled up to 60, and a Draenei mage that I've leveled up to 20 just to see the new starting area. I'm tempted to level the mage up as a tailor so I can crank out more shadoweave cloth for the warlock's nefarious purposes, but leveling my druid alchemist up could also be a nice moneymaker. I enjoy playing all the classes I have, or I wouldn't have leveled them up as high as I have, so that's not an issue.Any thoughts on what I should level next? Are there any leveling catches that I haven't heard, things that make a hunter, druid, or warrior easier to level than the others?

Easy, Level a priest so you can get your alts into great guilds easy< and everyone will love you for it.

i suppose it depends on what you want out of leveling an alt.
i think for solo'ing fun, the hunter would be your best bet (mind you, i can barely play mine. just bores me bad...)
druid is pretty rocking (still) atm and mage is always good fun. priest will give you lots of demand.
personally, after months of my guildies doubting my sanity because i not only rolled a paldin alt (to go with my paladin main) but also leveled him to 60, opted to give them something really juicy to bite into and leveled him to 70 last week.
welp, now i'm done with non-dps classes and my rogue is happily ginsuing his way across HFP atm.

Resto shammy. Every guild needs healers, and mana tide & earth sheild are made of win. Don't read the shammy forums though, just a bunch of whiners.

I don’t' think in terms of mains and alts. I have six toons to cover the professions that all deserve attention. Of course, the Troll Hunter LW is way ahead of the others, since she is the natural grinder. The BE Rogue JC is pushing 50 and is great fun. The one that's lagging behind is the Undead Priest Tailor/Chanter. She was the only one the guild wanted me to play. But i got so sick of green bars and status whack-a-mole, that when BC came out, i stopped playing her and took a break. Of course, once the guild figured that out, they kicked her out. The toon is more important than the driver, apparently. Anyway, now i just bounce around between the toons, getting my level-up fix times six.

Rogue FTW!!!!

If you're looking for the easiest to level from 60-70 a BM-spec'd hunter is probably the ticket. Even in MM, it's easy to level. Very quick run to 70. Almost too quick. I'm looking forward to bringing my 'lock through Outland to see more stuff. :)

You do know that FrozenShadow Weave set is Bind of Pickup? You can't get your mage to make it for your warlock.

I would propose to level the druid. Make him feral (if not specc'd this way already) and enjoy! My main is a druid and leveling with a feral specc was really fun. Due to the fact that you have no downtimes between your fights (improved leader of the pack ftw!) it is pretty fast, too. If your guild has a lack of warriors (like mine) they will love you.
You get the feral gear pretty quick while you are questing as there are many good questrewards for rogues/ferals.
If this did not convince you already keep in mind that he gets his flying mount at Level 68 almost for free. ;-)

@8 - read the original article: 'so I can crank out more shadoweave cloth'
The warlock is already a tailor and churning out shadowcloth, just not fast enough it seems.

I kind of want to level a hunter and go 0/52/9 just to shame all the easymode BM hunters out there. My first 60 was a hunter, and it was easy even though I was fairly clueless.
That said, you've played all your 60s that far so go with what's most fun. Leveling the warrior could be frustrating, but my super imbalanced 70 feral druid was getting rocked by every decently geared warrior... before the patch. If you were planning on going feral with the druid, play something else - mangle in bear form does less damage now that maul, for the low low price of 50% more rage and 41 talent points.

I say level the Druid. They're the most versatile of the bunch and seem to have an easier time getting loot (druid and rogue). Plus you can fly w/out having to buy a mount. Save that money and give it to one of your alts for theirs.

I want to have one of every character class I like lvled to 70.
Rogue, Druid, Priest, Mage, Warlock, Pally, Warrior.
Mabye you should do the same thing?
There is a member in our guild. Whos main is a balance druid. He luvs throwing trees at things :p
So he made an alt thats going to be feral resto since thats more useful in endgame.
Mabye you should just take those alts and get all the top gear and stuff. Running the instances are lots of fun.

So much of the balancing in this game is about paladins that I really recommend you try one, and that you try one of each spec at some point.
They are hella hard to level though.
Gillean Mar 16th 2007 9:37PM
I hit 70 on my mage which took me about a 1 1/2 months. I tried to lvl my paladin but it just seems really slow.
Go for the mage. PEW PEW FTW!
Joe Mar 16th 2007 11:52AM
I also vote Druid. Having flying before everyone else makes those last 2 levels of getting to and from quest areas a snap - at least in my experience.

I have a plethora of alts that I have leveled up and am now in the process of another (a gnome warlock as it just so happens to be). I would say that since you've already identified that you enjoy playing all of them, go with the one that would benefit your other classes best. My Warlock is going to be my Jewelcrafter/Skinner. I will use here to make money with skinning in Outland as well as the obviously great ability to farm. I am actually enjoying her enough to probably go with her as my main.
Druids/Paladins are a great was to stay in demand if you want to hit instances. My main is a Ret. Paladin. I have not ever been much of a healer, but like being able to step into the roll when a group needs me to, and again, it puts my class in demand.
Watching damage numbers fly is fun as a Rogue, but get used to not being invited to many instances, as melee DPS (same for Fury Warriors here) are just not as needed and get killed far more easily. Outland is more about range DPS though, and you may want to stick with a Lock, Mage or Hunter. It's all about you. I would never level a priest at the moment, but if you did, go Shadow. Vampiric Embrace will make Paladins love you.
Toolio Mar 16th 2007 2:13PM
@13 - That was a nice way of saying you don't like Hunters. (;
Blargg Mar 16th 2007 5:44PM
Try leveling up a Hordie.
Yippster Mar 16th 2007 6:44PM
Melee DPS is underrated, try beating the final boss in shattered halls without it.
