No new realms for you!
It's been a bit over two months since we've had any new realms for US players (the last new realms came with the release of the Burning Crusade on January 15th), there's been some cry on the forums for new realms to be opened. But with pre-BC server improvements helping overall realm stability and population cap increases limiting queue time, I haven't been seeing a lot of realm status complaints that would seem to justify the need for new realms or transfers. (My own realm has been pleasantly queue-free since BC's release.) CM Tseric seems to agree with this assessment, since in response to recent requests for new realms he's very clearly stated that there are no plans to open new realms at this time -- but that it's always under consideration, and they'll let you know when they'll be opening new realms.However, my realm -- and the news I'm reading on the forums -- may not present an entirely accurate picture of how all the realms are behaving. So do we really need new realms to take some of the burden off overcrowded existing realms? If your realm is struggling, speak up and let us know!

Fenris has been suffering a low population I think. Many people on the forums talk about how it's "dead."
I'll be interested to see how things go when transfers open up in April.

Well I can speak from experience, with a character each on two of the more populated PvE servers (Alexstrasza and Blackhand). Previous to BC with 30 min queues on Alex and one and a half hour queues on Blackhand, I've not had a single queue screen post BC. Ever. Thats improvement if you ask me. Do we need more realms? Well to mirror the authors words, this is just one mans point of view. But if my experience on a couple of the more popular servers is a slice of whats going on, I'd personally say no.

I'm actually not too happy about this. My friends and I just got back into playing WoW after about a year of playing other MMOs, and we decided to roll on one of the new servers from the BC launch. Auchindoun, the server we rolled on, happens to be in the Cataclysm battlegroup, the group with the least amount of servers. This means that our BG queues can go on for hours, not to mention that our server has a 4:1 horde-alliance population ratio.

Yeah, my realm has been pretty good so far. The only realm I'd really like to see released is an Oceanic RP server but I don't hold my hopes on that ever happening. :S

Auchindoun, one of the newest servers, is horribly imbalanced. It's as if the horde and alliance numbers.. flipped. Most of the server is BElf.

they have probally wised up and stop making new realms every month so they don't end up with elevtybillion realms. Plus people are whining constantly about wanting new realms when there are plent of realms that are virtual ghost towns.

Illidan is fine. i love the comments like "my realm is fine"...that really helps make sure yours wasn't already listed :/

I agree with the above. I transferred from Illidan to Bladefist right before BC, and I think that while the new servers have definitely taken the pressure off high-pop realms I'm now looking at a character transfer out of necessity because the economy is terrible, the horde are outnumbered almost 3:1 and there are only 400 players online on the horde side at any given time.

@7. your A to H ratio is 1.9/1

of course that's still pretty darn high. illidan is like a 1/1 almost perfect, even though you alway hear your own faction saying it's 3:1 against ya.

@1: Tumnus! Hi there :) I don't think anything's wrong with Fenris, I think it's perfect. Not so many people you can't get anything done, not so few people that you can't get a run together. Little to no lag/dc problems.

@9: Heya Kab! :')
Yeah I actually like Fenris too. Not sure what people in the forums are bitching about. The AH economy maybe? Avenged transferred off as a guild because of that, or they couldn't wait around for the 70 population to rise, or some other such thing.

I've had toons on Lightning's Blade and Firetree, and I most recently xfered them to Jaedenar (US) PVP. It's low-pop which allows me focus a little more on PVE, but there's still the element of danger. Perfect balance for a player like me. Though getting a PUG can be a PITA.

As of now I play on Ravenholdt, and the end-game here has been severely limited because of the population. As of now we have the highest guild progression, and that's only the chess event at Karazhan
