Merchandising, merchandising, merchandising [Updated]

Over at Casual WoW, Delaney talks about some of the merchandising choices Blizzard has made with World of Warcraft. Sure, there's the card game, the board game, the action figures, and a variety of amusing t-shirts and hats, but it seems like we're still lacking. As an example of what Blizzard's missing, we're presented with some utterly charming screenshots that have been photoshopped into coloring book pages. And now, if you'll just excuse me, I think I need to fire up my printer and find my box of crayons...
Update: Delaney's made a follow-up post with not only more coloring book pages, but instructions on how to make your own using Photoshop Elements.

I have actually made my own bookmarks with WoW artwork and screenshots from my characters, for when I am reading the WoW novels. Very simple, but I sure would love to walk into a bookstore one day and see some official ones displayed at the cash register. :)

Where is my "little murky" Murloc plushie? When you hug him he makes that distinctly unspellable murloc gurgle.
I'd buy one in every color available.

Murlocs -must- die.
But yes, the murloc aggro sound is utterly unspellable and awesome beyond words.
Ringtone, anyone?
Good idea actually, doole. I'm an avid reader myself (not WOW novels, but novels nonetheless) and usually end up using random scraps of paper as bookmarks (i.e. bank stubs, receipts, index cards, dollar bills, etc.) Needless to say, I loose bookmarks (or spend them at McDonalds) regularly, and don't have any decent standardized ones.

Although this new merchandising crazed campaign Blizzard has recently embarked on may be improving servers and gameplay, I believe that to go so far as action figures is a little extreme. Us WoW players already have the "living in the basement with our mothers" reputation and action figures just justifies the constant ridicule we will recieve if that ever makes its way to our highschool hallways or tiny bland cubicles. The merchandising I would support are the seemingly meanless murloc ringtones (thank you Chris) or the "Welcome to Camp Tarajo" these subtle WoW references only noticed by fellow players. So when you walk into Starbucks in your tight fitting Kobold Camp t-shirt and someone asks what it is, you can feed them some rediculous story about your great experience at your extreme hang gliding camp in the Pyrannese Mountains and smirk at their lack of intelligence as they walk away thouroughly impressed.

I need a WoW tie for work. I'm thinking of photoshopping some of the racial shields and getting some custom made ties done.

I play horde so I don't get all the murloc stuff. Can anyone kindly explain it for me please?

@5. When you aggro a murloc, it makes one of the most annoying yet distinctive sounds I've found to be in the game. Quite literally, I have no idea how you would even begin to attempt to spell it. But when you hear it, you certainly know what you just did...

@5 Check out Snarky's Journal under the moviewatch section, you get hear the pleasingly soothing tones of a Murloc....that grates on your nerves and makes you want to beat it in the head with a two handed sword. Maybe that's why I like Murloc Farming so much......lol

I'd buy several of those murloc plushies if they were available. Then I'd hug them all and laugh in mass hysteria. I mean honestly, even though it is probably the most annoying sound in WoW and it can't possibly be spelled it is the most recognized by all who play the game.
@1 Great idea on the bookmarks! I too read quite a bit and it's just so hard to find the right bookmark out there.
@3 I agree completely with your opinion on murlocs. They all must die, but you have to admit that they are hilarious when you do encounter them. As for the ringtone...another brilliant idea. I'd download it in a second!
@5 You're Horde and you have no idea about the whole murloc thing? Please tell me you are kidding.
:)

A WOW Nerf bat would be very appropriate. I would beat my hunters friends with it all day long. BTW Hunters suck.
