WoW Moviewatch: Chronicles of a Goldfarmer
This video is hardly new -- its time stamp places it squarely in the middle of summer 2006 -- but it remains entertaining nevertheless. Just what the World of Warcraft needed: real investigative journalism on Azeroth's true scourge, the goldfarmer!

For his next investigation, corpse campers.
He can sit in Hillsbrad Foothills all day and chase down alliance corpse campers, and even toy with the lower lvl campers.

This video was made by Totalbiscuit who does various online podcasts over at WoW-Radio ( www.wcradio.com )
He did a sequel to this video which is also funny :)
The video spawned a whole alliance of people killing Gold Farmers and trying to reduce their numbers.

Yeah, a bit behind the times with this one - TotalBiscuit posted this over at www.wcradio.com months ago, it was intended to be a series, tracking the 'escapades' of various Gold Farmers/Botters who had been spotted and reported to Blizzard several times, but who had obviously not been banned.
However, when TB posted on the official WoW Forums, advertising the series, Blizzard stepped in and banned not only his account, but those of anyone else advertising the videos, saying that they were against in-game griefing, and didn't want to take part in any 'naming and shaming'.
Not much has really been said about the videos since then over at WoW Radio, so I'm assuming TB quietly shelved the project to avoid any further aggro from Blizzard.

Thats when you create a new character and start the project up again, only making sure to turn off your UI, or somehow blur out your own name in the videos.
ajpally Mar 19th 2007 2:30PM
what UI is he using?
TotalBiscuit Mar 19th 2007 2:52PM
Heh nifty, thanks for plugging the movie. For those interested.
It was intended to be a series at one point however pretty much all of my time is taken up with WoW Radio so a 3rd movie never materialised, though I still have the storyboards and concepts all laid out for it.
The other movies (2 and the trailer for 2 which was seperately shot footage) are also available on Youtube, Googlevid and Warcraftmovies.
In answer to the questions, the UI was Photek3. As you can imagine it was supposed to be done in a documentary style, so I wasn't exactly concerned about turning the UI off, I felt it added something to the movies. Photek3 sadly does not work anymore and the latest editions of Photek are nowhere near as flashy.
Cheers!

As regards to the comments made by Turnik. Blizzard's opinion of the movies is really none of my concern. After the initial ban we started a viral signature campaign for Part 2 with forum members putting 'gankerfarmers.com' (a domain that pointed to the movie) in their signature. It spread even into the CMs, with Thundgot putting it in his sig so to be quite honest, the winner was the movies and the station with the extra publicity.

Hey TB!
Didn't know you followed along here, I used to listen to Epic for a bit, but went back recently and saw there's no more Epic (or I'm blind) has it just morphed into BluePlz?
TotalBiscuit Mar 19th 2007 8:53PM
Yeah [EPIC] went off the air when Kiki's university and raiding commitments became so great that he couldn't continue to do the show anymore. Blue Plz! was always my original format, [EPIC] was an evolution on that, just going back to what I know :)
TB.
