Lady Vashj hotfix: untimely death soon to follow
According to Tigole, a hotfix to the Lady Vashj encounter (the final encounter in Serpentshrine Cavern) should go live on US realms in the next 24 hours -- presumably during this Tuesday's maintenance, though Tigole doesn't specify. Specifically, the hotfix should adjust the amount of hitpoints some of the add spawns have. With only three guilds up to Lady Vash so far, this hotfix sets up some real competition. MMO-CHAMPION makes the reasonable speculation that if the hotfix requires downtime US guild Death & Taxes will likely get the world first kill, because US maintenance comes before EU maintenance. But if it's a hotfix requiring no downtime (that may have even gone live already), EU guilds Curse and Nihilum will have extra time to work on the encounter before their instance resets, giving one of them the world first. So who's going to win this race? If I don't see a first kill announcement somewhere in the next 24 hours, I'll be greatly surprised.

i keep finding myself asking if i care or not...
I suppose its just jealousy, the will to play instead of work...

Eh, I don't care about world firsts. Heh, I'd like to see someone put that down on a resume.

I used to not really care about raiding or world firsts (casual play ftw!). But since I found out yesterday that Nihilum won't let women join their guild?
Go Death & Taxes!

and....don't these people have lives that get in the way of, you know, stopping everything to play WoW? (yes i'm probably just jealous)

Nihilum won't let women join? Weird and dumb.

so, lemme get this straight:
Lady Vashj: only a few people have even seen her, 24-hour hotfix
Karazhan: almost anyone can get there, still buggy as hell.
Makes sense.

USA! USA! USA!

I don't believe that about Nihilum.. I'd bet it's made up to make 'em look bad.
And yeah, I'm a fan of Death & Taxes.
I just realized what we're doing. Guys, this is a world first; it seems a hell of a lot like a sport, now. We have our teams and our players and now we have fans and a "game."
Not to mention the professional sponsors that were mentioned in the other article..
Holy hell. Am I the only one who thinks this is HUGE?

Not to mention the professional sponsors that were mentioned in the other article for competing arena teams.*

Sorry to pick nits on you, but if it requires downtime, then it's not a hotfix. The hot part implies that it is applied while the system is live.
ptrostli Mar 20th 2007 12:33PM
Its actually 4 guilds.]
Halicante Mar 20th 2007 12:56PM
@6...exactly. I don't really understand why blizz caters to people who make up about .00000001% of their paying customer base. Yeah these guilds are cool and I won't lie, I'm a bit jealous, but wow....fix the stuff for the normal people first. The 5 mans are still buggy as hell, not to mention the heroics. Karazhan is super buggy and with worse trash than aq40, needs some serious revamping imho.
I just really don't understand why they don't fix things for the general population first.

"The kill of the final boss of Serpentshrine Cavern, Lady Vashj, seems to be very near. Today Nihilum reached 25% health on her.
If the hotfix made it easier, can we expect a kill soon from Death and Taxes if they manage to clean the whole instance after their downtime ? Stay tuned, i'm sure we'll hear about a world first kill soon.
Update : This isn't officially confirmed but it seems that Lady Vashj's adds have been nerfed from 340 000 HP to 145 000. The hotfix is already applied to EU servers."

@12 ... probably because they play in those guilds that make up the .00000001%.
