Breakfast topic: I still miss someone

WoW hasn't been around long enough for players to develop any real sense of nostalgia. There's no "back in my day" 8-bit version to sit around and reminisce about. Nevertheless, some people are beginning to miss the old raid bosses. Say what you will about BC's new instance system, the 40-man raids of original WoW definitely left a deep impact on the memories of raiders.
I'm not really a hardcore raider, but there are a couple fights I wish I could try again, for old times' sake. Vael was always a fun time, just because of the manic energy produced by trying to get him down as fast as possible. I may be the only person who liked Ebonroc -- pure tank and spank damage meter competition for the rogues -- and Chromaggus, because it was the most fun fight to screw up on. Who fell off the ledge? Who pulled aggro? Who stayed in too long? The Twin Emps and Huhuran were also enjoyable for the same reasons as Vael -- the running around, the manic tempo, the feeling of victory when you first downed them. However, I am very glad I will never have to again face Sartura (hey, we're dead from the whirlwind again), Ayamiss (get to the altar! get to the altar!) or Emeriss (just hate the dude.)
Do you miss any of the old boss encounters? What new encounters do you like, and which ones do you think are sub-par?

I miss all of AQ20. Awesome instance all around. Loved the exploding brainbug. Rerolled on one of the realms which opened when BC was released, so gates are closed and no chance to have a go at it once more.

Kudos for the Cash reference.

I LOVE the Curator in Kara. Easy, easy fight, but the whole "okay, kill the wisp, UNLOAD ON HIM UNLOAD ON HIM" thing is always exciting.

The only raid group I ever got in was for Halaa (got a nice belt before we lost the city too). But I have never been in a raid for a dungeon or raid boss.
I don't see much in the old world to miss. I am still going to run scholo and DM west, though only for my mount. Other than that, at 58, I am off to Outland with my new warlock for better gear, better rewards, and better quests than the ones I had to do to reach 60 before.

I still miss Stratholme, go figure. Still want Baron's mount. I hated the first half of Scholomance, but loved the second half where all the bosses hang.

I miss Strat, I love that instance. I'll probably go back in a bit, I STILL have to go back and do Scholo and DM to finish my epic mount quest (at 67 you think i would have finished it). Also, Ony. I love Ony, I cant wait to go 5 or 10 man her. DEEP BREATHS OMGRUNBBQ

I miss taking down Onyxia. I was part of a raid group and managed to down her 3 times (more followed after that but I couldn't go). I also miss the bosses in ZG. That was my first real crack at raiding and showed me just how much strategy and coordination was required to do them.
MC, I never really got far into it other than trash mobs. Never saw the inside of AQ20/40, BWL, or Naxx. Now that I'm 70, I wish I could join a guild that's doing them just for the sake of experiencing them.

@6, My guild just 7-manned Emeriss, so I can't imagine that Ony won't be completely 1-mannable.

With these new 5, 10, 25 man instances being challenging and even more so rewarding there is really NO incentive for guilds to particpate in the huge 40 man raids anymore. Seriously, Blizzard either needs to cut back the need for old stances being 40 man or needs to implement Heroic versions.

I liked Sartura actually. With Natur enemy cast bar timing the whirlwinds for me, my job as a rogue remained challenging but became fun as well. It may have helped that I pushed over 58% dodge with Grace of Air as well.

No nostalgia? Hello...Arcanite Reaper? Warriors, at least, have nostalgia.

@7.... very cool, I'd love to solo ONY!!!! HAHAHAHA But unless your a class that can heal I doubt you can do it (but who knows). I am a Warlock maybe my FG could tank..LOL :-)

Our guild just did High King Mualgar last night. Being a mage I got to tank Krosh Firehand. It is now one of my favorite fights because I have to stay focused and its more than just spamming frost bolt.

Even tough some people in my guild are making progress thru Kharazan, we have always loved doing thigs as a massive amount of people, so in the weekends we go do MC, Ony, progressing in BWL and all that stuff, just for the hell of it.
There are some fun fights like Garr (im a tank), Baron, Buru, Rajaxx that I love to repeat just because this is and always been a game. You do things for fun, and if you are starting to think in terms of "no reason to go back to XXX", then you are seriously losing it

meh if you missed all the manic/frantic running around tempo encounters you'll love the later bosses in Kara:
Netherspite is just damn fun, no 2 ways about it, no gear checks just fun.
Mechanazzer (can't remember how to spell his name) is also pretty fun, did him last night after 3 tries (we initially planned to "look at him" for positioning and then realized we could spank his Erudar ass yay!)
The point is, the encounters in Karazan are REALLY well designed. There's no reason to ever flask up but they're still hard. The difficulty isn't in your gear, it's in how well your raid can execute the encounter and that's a beautiful thing.
Do I miss the old 40 mans? Some of the encounters sure. In fact I'm not a big fan of Maulgar 25 man - actually a lot more like Shazzrah than it probably needs to be. However I'd say that the current generation of raid encounters are fantastic.

My opinnions are based on a feral specced druid who hates healing.
My favorate boss before TBC was Vael. I hate healing. I get bored. Vael was the only boss fight that kept me exctited (I was on ot healing duty, quicky selecting each tank and casting fastest heal, imba fun).
My least favorate was Razorgore because I originally had no clue what was going on and that it's annoying that even though you heal the tanks and hunters who ran past, other healers were slacking and letting them die so you pull aggro because you're feral specc without any aggro reductiona abilities and die.
I am so greatful my guild allows me to Tank and Dps in raids now (I tank more often than dps)
