"We know the item exists because someone has printed it in their guide" ... come on. Printed guides for a game which is constantly re-balanced?The copywriters need to collect data and sort them - say, three weeks? Then they pass that on to Layout - another one or two weeks. All the tables and data are at least five or six weeks old - and thus outdated - by the time the strategy guide arrives at the printers'. Add some more weeks for printing and distribution to stores. AND most strategy guides are out on the same day as the game, so the company making them has to start on the guide at least 6-8 weeks before the game's release: The strategy guide in some cases is finished well before game balance testing is completed. That's not even factoring in typos, outdated information or mischief ... Even assuming that Blizz handles these things more professionally than most developers, I would warn against believing everything that Brady writes.
