Breakfast topic: Favorite race

All the way back in October 2006, we asked you what your favorite race was, and since we have two more now, I think it's worth asking again. Of course some races have incredibly useful racial abilities -- will of the forsaken and fear ward come immediately to mind -- that make race choice an important one. But just as often a player's choice of race is made for cosmetic reasons, due to preference in starting zones, or because of personal reasons we may never know. Why do we have troll mages, orc warlocks, or night elf priests, after all? It's not because they're the best racial options for their faction or class -- it's because someone sincirely liked those races.
As for me -- I've got a troll priest. Why not an undead priest? I could have cannibalize (great for soloing), will of the forsaken (excellent throughout the game), touch of weakness, and devouring plague. Instead, I have berserking, hex of weakness (not bad for raid situations, and entertaining for annoying people in PvP), and shadowguard. These skills have their uses, but overall, the undead's racial abilities are distinctly better. So why a troll? Well, I happen think they have very cool hair options, and I'd prefer playing them to an undead any day. So what's your favorite race -- and why?

My absolute favorite is Undead thats why when i was asked to join an undead only guild i signed up and now we got over 300members. My second favorite race is Blood Elfs always liked those magic addicted crack addicts. :)

I hate elfs (both kinds) and undead. They are so overdone in WoW and in the fantasy game genre in general. I deleted my undead rogue and night elf hunter that came with the original WoW game. I feel sort of the same way about dwarfs, but they aren't as overplayed in WoW.
I like races that have "character." I love gnomes and taurens. Humans suck.

I have asked myself this question repeatedly since the Burning Crusade came out. Before BC, I swore by the Undead. The looks are good, their rebellious history combined with the way the other Horde races see them is very cool, and Will of the Forsaken is simply unmatched, in my opinion.
Yet, when BC came out, and introduced Blood Elves, I got two things I really wanted. A good-looking race that could play a hunter (Undead can't be hunters, dunno why.. ^_^), and another way to have some additional mana with their Mana Tap and Arcane Torrent racials.
I had a 60 Orc Hunter, and started over with a Blood Elf hunter, and I must say I prefer the Blood Elf. Yet, between Blood Elves and Hunters... I'd have to say Undead, except for the classes they can't play.
Will of the Forsaken and Unending Breath FTW.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I've always enjoyed playing a Human. There's just something about playing the race I am in real life but in a fantasy setting. I've heard people use that same argument AGAINST playing humans and I usually tell them that I'm sorry they hate themselves. (In good fun of course)
Plus the extra rep gains really help later in the game.

Before the expansion I was fond of Night Elves (they look good in armor, shadowmeld), Orcs (+axes is nice) and Tauren (they look good in armor, war stomp) but now I'm Draenei all the way. They combine orcish and night elven features in terms of appearance (tall like NE, burly like elves) they've got tentacles and they've got some damn nice racials.

Gnomes all the way. Those little bastards do have something special... and beating someone twice my size with a gnome warrior to death is something that I love. Second choice is Draenei. Paladins look pretty cool.
If I were horde, that'd be my choice.

My new favorite is Draenei, the only problem is that I wish they were horde, really, really bad. But I have a Draenei mage and their little useful self healing spell has helped me on more than one occasion, combining it with jewelcrafting and you go in throw a bunch of spells at them, self heal (its over time) more spells, drop a healing statue and your home free with virtually no damage..i'm unstoppable...;)

Heh. I like Gnomes primarily. As for the classes they can't play I pick Draenei. Space demons who consequentially enjoy spending time with Gnomes as well... not to mention the male's dance. My favorite. The female's tail-wag with Aspect of the Cheetah is kinda trance-inducing, too.
Trolls are my favorite on the Horde... Blood Elves are fun to play as well (provided they aren't the females), but that's mostly 'cause of Cam Clarke's voice.

My main is a human, and in terms of background, I enjoy the human race - there's such a mix of good and outright evil that it's interesting, especially if you roleplay. The toon I spend all my time on right now is my gnome mage. I rolled it as a joke one day and have fallen in love - there's just something fun about being tiny and pigtailed. :)
As for horde, I've got to say Blood Elves based simply on their starting area. The artistic quality of their starting area is simply phenominal.

Well, let's weed out who I don't like...
Hmm. Oh wait: Blood Elves. They're completely annoying. Also...who gave a mana obsessed race a rogue class? Doesn't make sense to me...
Horde side it's a pretty even fight between female Tauren and male Undead. I like the female Tauren because...well...the males are way too big for me. :P And it's nice to play something so very very far from human, and I love their lore and culture. The undead males...have the most kickass voices in the game, their racials are amazing, and I love running around Eversong, dirtying up the BElves pretty city and ruining their cloths. ;)
Alliance side, I like NElves, mostly because I love druids, I love female dwarves (they're not played enough!) and little gnome girls. So cute! Even gnome guys (though you have to be careful because some gnome faces are kind of creepy on the guys).
