Around Azeroth: Always sneaking up on you

I don't know how they do it -- they're massive, they're noisy, and the ground shakes when they get close -- but somehow the Fel Reavers in Hellfire Peninsula always seem to sneak up on me. (I suppose I shouldn't play while watching television.) Reader Usul of The Elders of Turalyon on Turalyon sends in this incredible shot with the following explanation:
I was on the top of Honor Hold, and decided that I wanted to turn in a quest at the mines (or so I thought). I slapped on Slow Fall, mounted up, and proceeded to jump off the mountain.
While Blizzard should be commended for such fantastic uptime during the onset of the Burning Crusade, I have noticed some times where I may be traveling and mobs appear from thin air because they aren't resolving fast enough.. not a big deal.
Until I saw the Fel Reaver appear... right next to me.
I turned to face the Reaver, which I figured was going to gank me with one hit, and managed to hit Print Screen at the same exact time...The results are submitted here.

Draw distance on the larger mobs in the game sucks. It's really noticeable in Un'goro Crater too, with the T-Rexes. Due to the amount of beef in the bigger enemies, the bigger they are the more sudden they appear! They should really be scaled so we can see them coming...

That's a big 10-4 ouch, little buddy.

Me and my wife were killing Helboars for the Helboar, The Other Whie Meat quest (which is annoying as hell). I siced and marked a boar, and was running up to him, when I saw the Fel Reaver come into the screen...
Right into my pet. Doh.
My Owl got one-shotted. My wife vanished as soon as she saw it. He got to me, I hit Feign Death, but his attack still hit me. I was left with 45HP, but still alive. Frankly, I was shocked that I was wasn't gibbed.
I both love and hate those things.
I think that's a good QotD for you guys. What patrols do you find annoying? Other examples are the Ogre gang patrol in Badlands, or the boss in Raven Hill (technically he's not a pat, but if he gets pulled out of the house he acts like one)

@Karmakin
I'm on the Alliance side. I really hate the occasional NPC Horde patrols in Nagrand, which I should note also have a very large aggro range.

@Todd
Not to mention that those Horde patrols can run faster then most Olympic sprinters. They are on foot and can run me down on an epic mount, not that is just not fair.

Hah hah. The Horde patrol unmounts and then give chase, super fast. I have yet to out run them and survive.

I just realized, these Outland shots need to be renamed to Around Outland. We're a long way from Azeroth, Toto. :P

Yeah, I pondered the naming when expansion screenshots first started hitting my inbox. And I decided to run with "Around Azeroth" as the title for a general screenshot feature. There will be pictures from Azeroth, pictures from Outland, and pictures from whatever else Blizzard decides to add next. "Around Azeroth" just has a nice ring that "Around Outland" doesn't, anyway. :)
