Blue Notes: Aran's Flame Wreath and Blade's Edge graveyards
I have two quickies for you all in the wake of the Alchemy issues. One bug with the Shade of Aran has been fixed:Beneficial immunity effects from abilities such as Ice Block and Divine Shield will no longer cause the Shade of Aran's explosion effect from Flame Wreath to proc when the duration has faded.
I'm sure he'll still wipe my guild without breaking a sweat -- he's what we're currently stuck on in Karazhan. Aran is the sixth boss in Karazhan (or so). Flame Wreath is an effect that puts a ring of fire around you; if you move, thus placing your character in the flames, it pretty much wipes the raid.
And another piece of bug-fixing goodness, they've fixed that ridiculously obnoxious graveyard bug in Blade's Edge Mountains. I'm sure I'll still hate the zone when I take my third Outlander through there (Mage perhaps?), but a little less, now:
All characters that die on the Northwest plateau of Blade's Edge Mountains will now be sent to the Evergrove graveyard.
Previously, if you died up in the northwest of BEM, your ghost appeared at the Sylvannar graveyard (for Alliance; I'm not sure what the Horde equivalent is). While this is geographically closer to the northwest part of the zone than Evergrove is, due to BEM's labyrinthine layout, it takes a good ten minutes to run back to your corpse from there.

i timed it once. it was 12 minutes to run back on a human. every time i died up there, i'd change our guild gmotd to 'nerf wispform.'

Hello I am a student at Indiana University and am doing an assignment on online communities. I am interested on peoples ideas of how this community formed, how it accelerates the transfer of information in particular info on game play and strategies, as well as what kind of image or identiy the community has of it's self.

If memory serves me correctly, the horde have to run all the way back from Thunderlord Stronghold, which is even farther out than Evergrove.

Lets just say this isn't the only graveyard Blizz needs to rework. Silithus memories anyone? Ya... still does it last I checked.
Oh ya and while we're on the subject of dead people, can you give the crybabies I nuke in midair a corpse grabber so they don't have to spirit rezz? PoM pyro is too much fun not to use inappropriately ;)

That's the... 6th time? 7th? that they've "fixed" Aran and Flame Wreath proccing off Divine Shield, Ice Block, and Cloak of Shadows. Having wiped many raids due to reading that they fixed it (again) and cloaking, I give that announcement NO credibility.
When I powerleveled from 60-70 with a group of players (we *had* to be first to 70, ha), the most common thing heard on vent on the 3rd day was "#$(*#@$)#( I HATE BLADES EDGE MOUNTAINS". Fond memories :)

What we've been doing to make Shade of Aran doable is stacking our group to be very melee dps heavy and having a warlock. This group make up isn't good for anything except clearing the trash up to Aran, and then killing Aran. We are probably going to be doing this until we are more confident at the encounter, and then we will be taking a more balanced group to the fight.

My guild had an easier time downing Nightbane for the first time then we had shade.

2/26/07:
Pets will no longer trigger the Flame Wreath effect.
Another failed hotfix.
Lock pet, Mage pet, Priest pet, Accepting a battle rez, The Redemption of the Fallen book buff pet.
All of these things and more will trigger the fight, GJ blizzard on another greatly tuned fight!
And they will never finish fixing all the encounters to balance for the Alch fix

If you want to down Shade, take 2 warlocks and a minimum of 4 healers. Take as many hybrid classes as you can and at 40% just heal like crazy, make sure all the raid has +9k hp and take the sheep/pyroblast before 40% and you will be fine, Shade is all about raid stacking. We have 6 healers when you take into account all our hybrid classes that are dps. Having a raid leader that basically screams like a mad man when flame wreath starts also helps.
Ankhing sets off flame wreath as well.
On Blades Edge, I got to BEM on the 5th day of release and I was mid way thru lvl 67, I spent just under an hour in BEM and went "this is the worst questing zone in WOW" and promptly went to Netherstorm. You dont need the quests in BEM and the rewards are all sub par just skip it all together and come back when your 70 with a flying mount and get the gold.
I still havent finished all the quests and the only reason im going to is I want to have all the quests done before the big new push with the 2.1 patch.

My guild hasn't has much of a problem with Aran lately. We run 3 karazhan groups and they've all got Aran on farm.
We usually have 4 healers and 6 others in the Aran fight. I say 'others' because there's really no tanking of Aran, so our tank switches to dps mode for the duration.
Aran is hard if people dont pay attention to the blizzard. That's what usually causes us the most problems. If your teams can avoid the blizzard, you're golden.
