Before we get guild housing, we need an overhaul of the guild system. Right now a guild is nothing more than some words over your head and a green chat channel. How about adding a tiered system for guilds - at the bottom, you have the kind of guilds that exist now, but by spending a few thousand G, you can upgrade to a full-fledged guild with a custom bank, guild flagging for raid instances, democratic controls for removing MIA GMs, and some other much-needed features. IMO, something like this is necessary before releasing housing. What I'd really like to see for guild housing is making it PvP based (perhaps in addition to an alternate PvE path.) Guilds could compete over instanced castles scattered throughout the world; by successfully assaulting or defending a castle, you'd get points, and every Tuesday when the server reset, the top guilds on the server would each get a castle to call their own (and attempt to defend!). Maybe just a pipe dream for WoW...
