G'eras, the Naaru who sells you things for Badges of Justice in Shattrath, now has eight new epic helms with meta slots in addition to his new Primal Nether trade-in. They cost 60 badges each. As you might expect, there are two helms for each type of armor, which makes it pretty easy to figure out which are for which classes. Of course, there being two cloth helms, the DPS clothies have to share one. Spec-wise, the hybrids' helms break down like this, as far as I can tell:
- Druid: Feral
- Shaman: Elemental
- Warrior: Protection
- Paladin: Holy
All the helms have from 21 to 37 stamina on them too, which is nice -- I've noticed that the better gear my Priest gets, the less HP she has. All in all it looks like pretty good gear (although they need to work on meta gem itemization, but that's a separate issue). Screenshots of all the items after the cut. What do you think? Will you be shooting for one of these? (Pictured is the Rogue helm.)

as an affliction lock, nothing worth picking up.
RogueJedi86 Apr 14th 2007 9:24PM
Now we need pictures of what each of the 8 look like.
Poddo Apr 14th 2007 9:29PM
I'll tell you right now, its not worth the bandwidth. They all look like crap. Like some helm you'd pick up in your mid 30s-40s, certainly not an epic, 60 badge helm.
Nogun Apr 16th 2007 1:17PM
"All the helms have 33 stamina on them too"
ehmn, a bit sleepy are we ? Elemental shaman helm is lowest with 21 stam.

Still almost no reason for me to get badges. Way too much of a pain for little or no upgrade over my current gear.
Eliah Hecht Apr 14th 2007 9:41PM
The reason it doesn't bother me that badge gear is not that compelling is that there are so many things to gain from heroics:
-Drops
-Rep
-Nethers
-Badges
Between all those different types of rewards, I feel like heroics offer some of the best return on investment I've seen.

Where the F*** is my DPS Plate?
L'Emmerdeur Apr 14th 2007 10:13PM
Why would any mage take that caster cowl over Incanter's Cowl?
Zenevieva Apr 14th 2007 11:45PM
I'm an elemental shaman, and honestly, that helm doesn't look too great. Sure, it has a tiny bit more magical damage than my Tidefury helm, but the only real upgrade is the armor... and that's laughable since I'm elemental. >.

@#7
I totally hear ya man. Way to fuck w/ the DPS warriors, the only other thing besides tanking they are good for, hell its the only other thing besides tanking period.

Nothing horrible, but nothing stellar either; there's equivalent, if not better, loot available in those heroic dungeons that you get badges from, so I'm a bit underwhelmed. And also:
"I've noticed that the better gear my Priest gets, the less HP she has."
No kidding eh, I'm kinda getting tired of getting one-shotted in heroics; despite having some really decent +heal gear, better cloth healing gear is practically getting to the point of being a liability.
TheTreasoner Apr 15th 2007 3:09AM
@ 7: Its in engineering, along with a MUCH, MUCH better tanking helmet, IMO. I'll be crafting both when 2.1 hits live, and laughing at people grinding for the 60 badge tanking helmet.
Dabura Apr 15th 2007 4:57AM
@8 Why the hell do you even have the incanters cowl, its utterly awful. The Helm of Second Sight or whatever from the long questline in SMV is much better.
blitz1988 Apr 15th 2007 7:00AM
The Mail head with Attack Power is totally screwed up... I don't see why any Hunter would take it over the Second Sight helm? That one has 3 sockets, and has lot better stats...
Nyx Apr 15th 2007 7:30AM
Since when are warriors a hybrid class? Did they add a bandage spec when I wasn't looking?
Acariquara Apr 15th 2007 9:34AM
@14 It's called a Paladin.
Eliah Hecht Apr 15th 2007 11:47AM
Nyx: Arguably, Warriors are a hybrid between DPS and tanking, which is what I meant here. I just wanted to clarify, for the people whose classes could fill multiple roles, what roles the helms were for.
navalpha Apr 15th 2007 1:00PM
still complete crap for hunters.
Matt Rossi Apr 15th 2007 3:29PM
Arguably, by the ridiculous definition you just set, the only non hybrid classes in the game are hunters (DPS), mages (DPS) and rogues (DPS). Everyone else can do DPS and something else. Priests can heal or DPS, warriors can tank or DPS, shamans can tank or heal or DPS (I did not say they could do all of these things well), warlocks can tank (either by pet or using their own massive stamina) and DPS. Hell, a hunter pet can tank for him so now they're a hybrid too, leaving rogues and mages as the only pure classes.
It's ludicrous to claim that a class is a hybrid because it can DPS and do something else: all classes can and must have the potential for DPS because it's the only way to solo in the game.
Eliah Hecht Apr 15th 2007 4:04PM
Matt: Settle down. The only reason I used the word "hybrid" above was that I wanted some way to describe classes that had two divergent sets of goals for gear. Warriors might want either tank gear or DPS gear, depending on what they're going to be doing, how they're specced, etc, and tank gear and DPS gear are generally very different. I'm not making any claims on anything else.
