Demonic roulette
You can summon a demon and you can choose your name, but you can't choose your summoned demon's name. Unlike hunters, warlocks don't get to name their pets. Instead, their demonic names are randomly generated from a combination of syllables. Blizzard says this is because demons have their own names when they're summoned, whereas animals get given names by their human owners. Warlocks share their best and worst demon names in this thread, which includes such gems as:
- Chopit, Rubtip, Awang and Karrot the imps
- Grimthang, Bigmooth, Kraknutz and Krak'ho the voidwalkers
- Hellina, Angora, Vigana and Bro, the succubi
- Kuushion, Shaaron and Phuukum, the felhunters
Some pets, such as Vigana and several voidwalkers whose name ended in "nutz", were actually reported to the GMs for obscene names. The GMs mostly let this go, although they did change the name of an imp named Karpet because people kept /licking it.
What's the best demon name you've seen? Do you wish you could "name" your demon or pick its name from a list instead?

I think it'd be better to get a different one every time

@1 - /agree

@1 - I disagree. I like feeling attached to my pets.
I was fortunate enough to use that old /scrip abandon method to get new random names before it was patched out. My succy ended up with name Hellith which was far better then her original name of Thulkresh. (Made worse because both my void and imp had "Thul" as a prefix.)

My Warlock's voidwalker?
Thanthang. Yep, Thanthang.

My favorite is my original imp's name on Gilneas...
Gakspit - you just can't beat that name.
brian Apr 16th 2007 5:47PM
lol... krak'ho for that void, great that succi never got it
ApolloIV Apr 16th 2007 5:51PM
Heh I'm glad i'm not the only person with badly named pets. My Felhunter's name is Phuukun and my felguard name is Sharoon. The worst thing, if you spec and respec felguard, his name doesn't change. Bummer huh?
Khanmora Apr 16th 2007 5:58PM
My imp was named Quztip, do you know how many of my guild mates asked to borrow him to clean their ears? /sigh

Ha, awesome names.
i don't like the idea of being able to name our minions. As it's so colorfully stated somewhere- they aren't cuddly little bunnies tamed from the wild, they're the spawn of evil summoned from the underworld to assist in our bidding. Hunters go out and be friendly to piggies and kitty-cats to get them to become tamed, while we take it upon ourselves as warlocks to train in the methods of harvesting souls and bringing forth demonic minions.
Naming a demonic minion is so anti-awesome. It goes against everything we are as Warlocks.
My Voidwalker: Thoglos
Succy: Carrwena
Felhunter: Haamon
Felguard: Kel'kun
I think I have some decent names.. ;)

LOL, I have to admit, but I have never even bothered to read those names before. Thats hilarious! "lemme send my Krak'ho on you!"
Laurapalmer Apr 16th 2007 6:29PM
I had an imp named "Karpit", and even though I consider myself mature and dignified, I could not help but /lick emote every chance I got...
'Laurapalmer licks Karpit'
Jeremy Apr 16th 2007 6:34PM
My old warlock on Hellscream had Krak'doom for a VW. Not very funny, but rather evil sounding.

"...although they did change the name of an imp named Karpet because people kept /licking it."
Holy batshit, that's funny :) I laughed so hard just now, I was crying and gasping for air.

My voidwalker's name is Hellnos. Best name ever!
kraoro Apr 16th 2007 7:18PM
I saw an imp named Pizuri; now, on the surface, it doesn't seem too bad. But if you speak Japanese, you'll know it's dangerously close to the word "paizuri," which I'll spare you the definition of.
Jonny McCormack Apr 16th 2007 7:30PM
Haha! Paizuri is awesome!
*Runs and grabs wife* Hehehe!
Braz Apr 16th 2007 8:08PM
My Warlock's pets don't have very interesting names:
Imp: Zorloz
Voidwalker: Klathdok
Succubus: Cattwena
Felhunter: Kreedhon
Felguard: Jhuuguun
I would like to be able to choose from a list of names, but I doubt that implementing that feature is very high on Blizzard's priorities list at the moment (assuming they would even do it in the first place).

I saw a lock running around with a voidwalker named "Krakthang", which I thought was pretty hilarious. I think "Krak'ho" trumps that, though.
Magma Apr 16th 2007 7:52PM
All I have to say is if you report a warlock's pet for having a bad name, you should kill yourself.
PhyerFly Apr 16th 2007 8:07PM
Best name I ever saw for a warlock pet was a Voidwalker named "Helthang" - it just fit so well.
