New Darkmoon cards stats revealed
I was never able to collect any of the Darkmoon cards (although I'm pretty sure I have six or seven of the Warlords cards sitting in my Warrior's bank), but I always thought they were a great idea. Since the expansion, however, the old cards haven't been quite up to par for level 70s. Enter the new Darkmoon decks-- Blue announced a little while ago that there would be new cards to collect, and now Tiare has compiled what the new Darkmoon trinkets will do for you when completed.[Darkmoon Card: Vengeance] (Ace - Eight of Storms)
You have a 10% chance when hit by an attack or harmful spell to deal 95 to 115 holy damage to your attacker.
[Darkmoon Card: Wrath] (Ace - Eight of Furies)
Each time one of your direct damage attacks does not critically strike, you gain 17 critical strike rating and 17 spell critical strike rating for the next 10 sec. This effect is consumed when you deal a critical strike. (Stacks up to 20 times)
[Darkmoon Card: Crusade] (Ace - Eight of Blessings)
Each time you deal melee damage to an opponent, you gain 6 attack power for the next 10 sec., stacking up to 20 times. Each time you land a harmful spell on an opponent, you gain 8 spell damage for the next 10 sec., stacking up to 10 times.
[Darkmoon Card: Madness] (Ace - Eight of Lunacy)
Each time you land a killing blow on an enemy, you gain the Power of Madness.
Unfortunately, we're not quite sure what "Power of Madness" means-- it could be anything from a simple beserk buff (+Damage and Spell Damage, -Healing recieved), to a shapechange to a Worgen, or even "Opens a portal into the Twisting Nether that periodically summons demonic minions to aid the caster in battle for 14 sec." (at least that's what the rumors say).
But sweet cards nevertheless. The Wrath and Crusade cards look especially cool, but I'm confused about the 10 second limit-- someone with Wrath can supposedly build up to a whopping +340 crit rating, but does that mean they somehow have to hit 20 times (without critting) within 10 seconds? Is that even possible? I don't see it procing more than two or three times before the ten seconds are up or a crit appears.

Wow, I've never had a whole deck (i hit 60 a week before bc), but crusade and wrath are both sweet.

These cards are insanely good, almost game changing.
These decks are going to be the things to get once 2.1 hits. As a shadowpriest I know I'm after the Crusade Card for the constant +80 spell damage. I can forsee extravagant prices for all the cards.
My best guess about the stacks is that each new stack refreshes the 10second duration... So it'll keep stacking until you crit, then reset down to 1 stack and stack again until you crit... If you stop attacking for 10 seconds, the buff goes away...
Imagine a Mage or Rogue with this trinket and it's a little bit scary. Constant crits FTW.

wrath cards look awesome, can't wait!
I will be prepared to spend hundreds of gold to get this deck.

It's probably like other stacking effects, ie Shadow Weaving. Every time another layer is applied, it refreshes the whole stack. So you've got to attack at least once every ten seconds in order to keep the buff going.

Wow those are some awesome cards to have. All of them will be highly sought after.
As a fire mage, yes Wrath is definitely going to be mine.

Yeah they are really good-- keep in mind that this is still basically a rumor, and that this is still only the test realm.

Nothing for Healers?
[Darkmoon Card: Wrath] seems to have potential to be an interesting Paladin trinket but only works on Direct Damage.
Should from this be concluded that Developers still view the Blue Dragon card as viable for healers? because it never was unless you have a sick amount of spirit.

Re: Wrath, I'm too lazy to do the math, but it seems like it will increase your overall crit rate by a lot, given that 22 crit rating = 1% chance to crit at 70.

Vengeance is equivalent to a ~15 damage per hit shield. It's worthless for everyone except paladin tanks, but pretty good for them assuming the holy damage is affected by Righteous Fury.
Wrath scales downward with gear. That is, the more you crit, the less this trinket will affect how often you crit. If you don't crit too often it will have more of an effect.
Crusade is terrible for melee; a constant 60 attack power with no Use bonus? There are much better trinkets available. Expect this trinket to be a hallmark of ebayed toons with purchased gold. It may be better on casters, because 80 spell damage is worth a LOT more than 60 attack power, however remember that it takes 10 attacks to fully charge it, and casters will build charges much slower than melee. A good raiding trinket, but meh for solo and small groups.
Madness, we'll just have to see what it does!

The Wrath card sounds amazing but that depends on how much crit you already have. I cit about 30-35 percent of the time so if i had this card, on average I would only get this card to stack twice before it reset with a crit. It is very powerful if someone didnt have any base crit. If you get this card it might make sense to replace some crit stats with pure plus damage.
Personally I prefer the Crusade card but im not sure why mele gets it to stack 20 times and spells are only 10 times. Seems oddly inconsistent (especially with casting times being generally longer) and probably an error but this is bliz we are talking about.
goosemann Apr 16th 2007 2:11PM
in rethinking the stacking of the crusade deck. It does make sense actually since 6 attack power is about half the power as 8 spell damage and it would take mele about the same time to stack 20 as caster to stack 10. Unless as a mage you just spam ice lance in the beginning while tank gets aggro.
Savok Apr 16th 2007 2:18PM
I see Vengeance is there to laugh at the Tankadins some more.

[Darkmoon Card: Madness] (Ace - Eight of Lunacy)
Each time you land a killing blow on an enemy, you gain the Power of Madness.
MADNESS? THIS IS SPARTA!!
(I'm sure I'm not the only one that thought that)
Savok Apr 16th 2007 2:36PM
So the card summons an army of well oiled men?
Baluki Apr 16th 2007 2:39PM
Wrath is pretty interesting, although I guess you could say that the more +crit you have, the weaker Wrath is.
Then again, it would be pretty nice to have for those times when no matter how many times you hit something, you just can't crit. And if it stacks twice, that's more spell crit than nearly every other +crit trinket in the game. And I'm sure it's nice in PvP when you're fighting someone with a ton of Resilience gear & talents.
Also, since I'm an Elemental shaman, my mana efficiency is directly tied to my crit rate (even with the nerf) so this could be a very useful trinket for me.

"...however remember that it takes 10 attacks to fully charge it, and casters will build charges much slower than melee. A good raiding trinket, but meh for solo and small groups."
I'd probably start fights with 5-7 Ice Lance, to build charges, then start using Frostbolts. It will kill the 'stand around while the tank builds aggro' boredom as well.

Pretty lame that they failed to give a healer type of deck. Thanks Blizzard.
Dabura Apr 17th 2007 5:19AM
Those cards sucks, they are all either for rogues, tanks or palladins. I want to know where the mage one is. FYI dont just say get Wrath, because I dont want more spell crit I want a card tht has a proc tht increases spell dmg.
Ekrim Apr 17th 2007 9:45AM
Um, Dabura. Crusade, right below Wrath.
Clearly, reading isn't as valued a skill anymore.
