Breakfast Topic: How did you pick your class?
When I first started playing the game, way back when, I didn't really pick a single class -- instead, I rolled one of nearly everything and played through a few levels here and a few levels there. I honestly don't recall how or why a warlock became my main character and my first class to 60 (and, yes, I was a warlock before warlocks were cool). It was picked, primarily, at random. I didn't have any detailed knowledge of any of the classes, but happened to enjoy leveling that one more than the rest. But after that first character, I picked classes with a bit more knowledge of what I was getting into -- after all, you can't level to 60 without learning at least a little something about the other classes. My next to 60 was a priest, whom I selected because I wanted something that was the polar opposite in playstyle of a warlock -- so I leveled a priest. (In hindsight, it wasn't so terribly unlike a warlock for soloing or questing: they're both classes with fear doing shadow damage. But in groups they were worlds apart.)And now that I've started off with my story, I'd love to hear yours. how did you pick the class you're playing today? Was it the result of hours of meticulous research? Was it a random choice? The casual recommendation of a friend? Done because your group of friends needed tanking/CC/DPS/healing? Or did you just try everything until you found a good fit?

First picked a rogue, Never looked back.
I always pick a warrior or mage in an mmo and i figured i'd like a change.
The ability to be invisible and be in control of my battles and a bit more elusive than face on, really appealed to me.
I still love my rogue like i always did. His end-game role is...well its not too bad and when i feel like PvP'ing i can always have a good time. Rogues definitely have the funnest abilities for PvP, vanish/sprint/blind/sap all make even the crappiest BG amusing to myself....and i can always just stealth and soak up honor if i'm lazy or afk :D
Cant really ask for much more as a rogue tbh. I bit more involvement in the raid might be nice like some sort of group attack speed buff or reduced aggro aura or threat management abilities, but its mostly all good. And since i did feel like contributing to the raid more, i guess thats why i am currently levelling...
A paladin. Their whole "light and justice" thing has really got to me and i just wanna wield some massive hammer and deal out some righteous judgement :D
Oh and speaking of judgement....i'm SO attuning him to onyxia to get that helm. Too damn sexy to not be got :D

I had a lvl 60 hunter, he was my main until that day ... the day when a shadow priest MC'd me several times in front of BRD :x U know what ? Lava is hot.
It was time to create my new main :p
(be kind with my mistakes, I'm EU :) )

Well when I first started playing WoW a co-worker got me into it. I was hooked the first night. His roomate was a Paladin, and he was a Lock. They told me to try a Mage or a Rogue. I picked a mage and BAM it was instant love for that class. I now have a 40 lock that for some reason I cannot get into so now I have a 48 Shaman that I love almost as much as my mage... I wonder why

I'll be honest, it's been two years and I still haven't picked a class.
I did stick with rogues for while, that was a horrible mistake however.

I WIN ON THIS....I started because of the people that I work with. I were told the whole "warlocks are mushrooms" thing, and bet a warlock I could make a non-lock character to beat him, I asked around, with no knowledge of the game, and was told my best bet against any caster would be a hunter, or druid. I chose BOTH...I have a druid and hunter. hunter being my main, I take casters like two bite brownies, their so squishee.

When I started playing, I asked for help picking a class from my friends who bought the game for me. The priest kept insisting that I'd love playing a mage, so I tried it out. Sixty levels later, I asked him, "You only told me to play a mage because you wanted free water all the time, right? You had no idea if I'd like it."
"Yup."
Well lucky for him he was right anyway, and now at 70 my mage is still my main and first love. :P The 60 priest has rerolled to 70 elemental shaman, and still loves me for my water, so that's working out too.

well i'm a GOOD gamer....many a hunter I have seen BLOW chunks....I look at ability and functionality, hence me being a TROLL....beserking + rapidfire + good quiver + Iimproved aspect of the hawk
silencing shot, close gap, scatter shot, close gap, freeze trap, back up aimed shot (3sec) immediately folowed by pet attack, and second silencing shot, concussive shot, all rapid fire beserking, and devilsaur eye, arcane shot....rinse and repeat until someone dies...plus with "go for the throat" and wind serpent any crits = bonus 200-400 from lightning breath of my pet....FEEL THE GOOD HORDE HUNTER WRATH!

i started out with a druid, which i hated because i didnt like shapeshifting
After that, I made a rogue, which I loved, but I kept getting owned by pallies with bubble in the BG's. So when the BC came out, I took a risk and made the only Dranei who wasnt a shaman.
He's 41 now, and lovin it.

My friends wouldn't stop talking about WoW, and I decided I had to try it out. As soon as I told them I was going to buy the game, they decided I had to roll an Undead Rogue. Read the manual when I bought the game, and rogues seemed like fun. Stuck with him since.

I started with a tauren shaman, because I didn't know what I wanted and the taurens looked pretty cool. The idea of doing casting and melee damage, as well as healing and the occasional off-tanking seemed like a great idea. I've realised that even though my hybrids can do everything (although not as well as the primary classes), most parties expect only the most useful (normally healing).
Since then, I've gotten my shaman (Baswoodstock, Kul Tiras) and my 1st alt - a troll rogue (Mesterwoody, Kul Tiras) to 70. With my alts (Basneyota - tauren druid, Basdeldren - undead mage, and Basbiris - blood elf paladin) all to the high 20s but can't decide which to go to next.
I've decided that doing one thing with a toon and doing it well is better than multitasking, and pure dps is my thing. However, I think a resto druid might be a good option to help my guild's alts level through and heal along the way.

Started out with the obligatory Nelf Hunter. In all actuality, I wanted a High Elf Hunter (my favorite unit in WarCraft 2) but there were not to be found, so I picked the closest. After peeking my head into Darkshore, I just had to quit. It was ridiculous.
Made a Tauren Warrior, was called "one of the best lowbie tanks I've ever met" on more than one occasion, but my guild wanted more Priests. Made an Undead Priest, leveled him as mostly Holy (before the Priest review, when Holy Priest soloing was about as nice as Resto Druid soloing) and wanted to go Shadow for Endgame. No-one wanted me, infact made quite a bit of fun at me 'cause I'd roll on +damage gear instead of spirit/int gear. Eventually I deleted that level 60.
Then I made a Paladin (was told they were a tank/healer hybrid... but only healers in the playerbase's eyes STILL) leveled him to 60 not counting a Warlock to 49, countless Druids that didn't make it to level 20, a Mage to 24, Gnome Warrior to 55 which I foolishly quit after plenty of praise tanking and vendoring all her gear but the Scarlet Monastery stuff.
Now I have a Paladin that I play sporadically when I can stand to tell people "no, I'm not a healer" a Mage for the pew pew and a Druid for tanking.
I still have no clue what class I rally want to play all the time, 'cause all of them are fun to me (well, 'sides Shaman.. that has yet to grow on me) and are quite diverse in playstyle, which is one thing I like about this evil life-stealing game. XD

Well, instead of choosing one class/race, I decided to take EVERYTHING. So I had a HUMAN paladin, a TROLL something, a GOOD hunter... (what's with the caps Hellspawn?) Basically everything up to about lvl 10-15. Because I was pretty noob at that time my first char I stuck with was a hunter, but around lvl 30-35 I noticed how little hunters are involved in a fight. It got boring very quick so I started rolling other toons again.
At the moment I'm lvling a Draenei Shaman and I play on a NE Durid or NE Warrior (my highest) every once in a while too.

I'm not quite sure how or why, but somehow I ended up playing a druid. Got him to 64. I did the whole end-game spiel, got T1 and some T2 before the xpansion. I tried feral, boomkin, and resto specs, and found that I simply loved dealing damage. Seeing huge crits go up on the screen left me writhing in ecstacy. So, I have now rolled a fire mage. He is 52 and still climbing, and I'm sad to say, is much more fun than my druid.

I rolled a warlock because I liked the way tier 1 armor looked. The felheart horns were hot. I rolled an orc warlock because everyone else rolled an undead, and I wanted to be different. I also wanted to RP Gul'dans ex-girlfriend.
And I rolled a warlock before they were cool. I was demonology before the felguard. 53 days played.

When I beta'd wow I was coming fresh off of Horizons where I had a played a mage. Nomrally I love playing casters but the horizons mages were terribly gimped. So my boyfriend suggested I play a druid who had some of the powers of a mage but could also shapeshift which sounded cool.
Of course druids were horribly gimped at the time but I loved playing them so much I stuck with it through beta and ended up loving my druid. Of course I did end up rolling a mage at some point and she becamse my second favorite character. In the intervening years I've played every class up to at least 10 to see if I liked them.

Rogue.
In any game, I've always been drawn to glass cannons. And while in theory a squish like a 'lock or mage is even glassier than a rogue... they're also a lot less exposed to damage.

I played a warlock for the week before BC came out, got to level 24. I picked it because I wanted a succubus. When BC came out I wanted to go for a mage but my guild (who all rerolled) told me to pick a priest because they needed it and there were two other mages. Two weeks later those mages decided they didn't like mages and picked other classes. It was then that I said I would never listen to others in my decision making again.
