WoW Moviewatch: Think of the animals

ZeusJones sends along this movie he made, in support of his new organization seeking to protect the apparently innocuous wildlife around Azeroth. How many innocent lives have you mindlessly snuffed? Please, stop the slaughter.
Now, I'm all for Zeus' little campaign (and he's even got a blog up and running for it), but I want to warn him: those animals might not be as harmless as they seem. True story: I was in Heroic Underbog this weekend, and a frog hopped by while we were waiting for mana. I clicked on him, and Frost Shocked him out of his little froggy existence, as I usually do whenever we see critters around.
And I kid you not-- I was very surprised to see a little red 1 roll up my scrolling combat text. I checked the combat window, and sure enough: "Frog hits you for 1." Completely true. I don't know how he did it (it was an instant spell! he's a critter!), but that frog tried to take a bite out of me. Maybe I should have bought Griftah's amulet.

Gamon habitually hits me for seven damage or so after I crit him for 500+. Should kill him outright, but I guess he's got some kind of spastic death reflex.

it'd be hilarious if blizz started booby trapping random critters to backlash for like 50K dmg upon death.

Level 70 Frost Mage, and I have *never* intentionally killed a level 1 critter. I may have gotten one via an AoE by accident, but I have never attacked one outright. I recently got my Continuum Blade, and level my sword skill on Wolves and Defias outside Stormwind.

As a warlock, I take great fun in dotting critters as I run around. They're also handy for warriors to charge+battle shout as you run towards the mobs you're looking for.

Yup, I also was being attacked by a frog in Zangarmarsh recently. It was actually quite annoying as I was in the middle of a battle with several nagas. When over I tried to eat/drink or mount up to leave, but couldn't because I was "in combat". Finally I noticed the 1-point losses... and the frog!
Glad to know I'm not the only one!

True Story:
While leveling my mage in the ghostlands, I was fighting the nerbu (those undead spider people) in their little camp, I went and cast frost nova and there happened to be a frog in range of it. The frost nova misses the frog, but now the frog is hostile and starts attacking me... and kills me before I finish of the nerbu I had frost nova'd.
So screw the critters, they deserve to die for killing lowbies that aren't expecting hostilities from them.

Critter are always screwing up my DPS charts ... multishot is non-discriminatory. The only thing it won't hit are friendly targets. So when in an instance I will fire off a multi and see 1200, 1400, 2700 and realize that I just nuked some rat. I support this message, but move to make critters immune to AOE and AOE-like effects such as multishot!

I got attacked by a silly little frog that stumpled into my aoe (on my mage). Haven't seen any other critters attack back though.

Indeed frogs aren't all entirely harmless it's true. You'll notice there are no charts about frog slaughtering. Knock yourselves out when those slimy things come a biting.

This reminds me of when I had to do the druid quest to cure sickly gazelles and my boyfriend kept killing them for leather so I couldn't do the quest.
"Could you at least wait to kill them after I've cured them from their disease"
"Nope. I need more leather scraps."

Was questing in Nagrand once with my wife when the guild did a kill a critter competition to see who would do the most damage.
Laughed my socks off when on my wifes turn (Holy Priest) the critter resisted :)

It makes me giggle when a level 70 hunter with Aspect of the Pack or Cheetah on whacks a poor little rabbit on his merry way...and gets stunned because the rabbit clocked him for 1 pt of damage. Almost made me fall out of my chair when this happened to my buddy, because we were running for our lives when he did it...My poor Huntard friend was ganked by no less than 15 elite demons. Life was good.
By the way, Hunters are all horrible players. Don't nerf them, just let them know that they are bad people...even my Hunter. That guy is a jerk too. Well, maybe nerf them. Take away their ranged ability and pets. That's all though. No need to get extreme on them.

This is very well done, much better then that "And now the news..." Crap. I have never kileld a critter, except sikcly ones, since i can't exactly heal them.

The frogs at the start of a princess run in Maraudon will hit you for 1 damage after you kill them too.

Critters are the reagent for the warrior's travel form.
