No 2.1 this week either
Since this week is a full-maintenance week on the maintenance schedule, it would be theoretically possible for Blizzard to sneak patch 2.1 in later this morning without having to do unscheduled maintenance. However, sadly (for my Rogue at least), the patch is not upon us just yet. Eyonix said a few hours ago:We don't have a patch scheduled for release tomorrow. We're still testing patch 2.1 on the public test realms, currently.
Better luck next week, folks. But then again, for some classes, 2.1 is not going to be so pleasant (Paladins, for instance). Who's looking forward to the patch, and who's dreading it? Also, does Eyonix's wording imply that we'll get some warning of the patch going up because the PTRs will go down first?

I'm a paladin and I can't wait for the patch. Though I am a prot paladin currently.

you check out prot paladins on PTR? they got nerfed worse than holy paladins as it currently stands.

Shaman clearcasting..... noooooo....
For once in my life I had a good amount of mana!

Slight delays just mean I can grind a little bit further toward that 5000 gold for the Netherwing quest line (sigh)...

I don't know what you're reading but Prot Paladins got a decent buff. Our one-hand specialization now adds to all damage (not just weapon damage), Avenger's shield has no more minimum range (amazing buff) and they tweaked Ardent Defender to have less of a chance of being "leap frogged". Looks like a buff to me.

As a Warlock who dinged Saturday night to level 70 and picked up the flying mount, I cannot wait for patch 2.1.
After just TWO DAYS of farming herbs from wyvern-back, I am so sick and of having to land, summon my felguard, kill the mob standing hear the herb, grab it, then fly up high enough to despawn the felguard.
Patch 2.1 cannot come fast enough!

My main is a primarily PVE rogue, and this patch will be a significant PVE buff with the combination of increased damage from glancing blows [3-5% reported by PTR testers] and 7 more talent points I can spend on something damage useful other than Improved Sap.
I await the incoming rogue PVE nerf in 2.2.

Well, I got a paladin and druid at 70 and I'm leveling a hunter at the moment, so I'm having mixed feelings.
My paladin is holy/prot specced, so when it comes to healing a group, I'll miss the feeling of awesome power when I'm grouped with a shadow priest and I can basically heal from now until eternity. (Yes, I knew this nerf was coming).
As a druid I'm looking forward to the mangle buff again (should result in ~100-200 extra dmg on mangle).

Usually the PTR's come down the week before the patch is to become live. Also, they don't usually leave PTR's up for too long. I'd expect within the next 2 weeks.
As is, I'm rather apathetic about the patch. None of the buffs/nerfs seem to affect classes/specs I play, so I couldn't care less.
The main thing I dislike is the more reps that have to be ground out. Add that to the new epic mounts (Let's reward those without a life that had the time to farm five thousand gold; or those who bought gold), and it's all just getting flooded.
I can see this game in a year's time becoming the new EverQuest, where they just keep pumping out new content that gets less than a month's use before something bigger and better comes out.
What's next?

@5: Why would you bother grinding the gold up on the PTR, when you can be using this time to grind it up on the live server, and actually be able to use it past tuesday fortnight?
@8: I have my epic flying mount training, link follows.

I also have a job for about 60 hours plus every week, and an active social life. I also didn't get lucky and pick up a random BoE epic I could sell off. There is ridiculous amounts of gold to be made pretty much by anyone, but being a herbalist certainly doesn't hurt. I borrowed the last 1.5k gold or so for mine, but having it has increased the amount I'm able to farm considerably. It's not as hard as you'd think. I'll see you from the back of my Nether Drake in a month or so :)

Is it just me or was there a post about the FSW/Spellfire nerfs above this that has since gone kaput?
Brian McBride May 1st 2007 6:33AM
I think the alchemy nerf bites. Actually, I think a lot of the stat boosting elixirs do need to be nerfed, that or herb production needs to be boosted so that all potions are just cheaper.
A more elegant solution would be to allow you to stack lots of elixirs like now, but the more you have active the more they are all nerfed a bit. So if you have 4 going it reduces their buff by 20%. You pop up to 6 and now your down 40%. Something like that.
I dunno, I think a lot of elixirs will stopped getting used, especially the utility elixirs that are not directly stat related.

I used to play a paladin - 70 on magtheridon and am just totally fed up with blizzard and their devs (kalgen for the lose). I decided to quit the game after i read the patch notes - its not so much the patch as it is a constant stream of bilge coming out of blizzard headquarters about where they want the game to go and how 'balance'should work (we constantly get nerfed with the excuse that DS makes up for any sort of viability....). This patch was just the straw that broke the camels back....bring on warhammer online please.
Blizzard(kalgen and his crew) are ruining what was once a very special game.

Yeah, the FSW/Spellcloth nerf has got me not looking forward to 2.1, but at least another week or two will be nice without it. I've got the boots and shoulders ready to wear when I ding 70, I'm about 25% through level 69.
Mel May 1st 2007 7:38AM
@12 Warhammer Online in their most recently newsletter declared that their game would not be released until 2008.

Bring on the BEASTMASTER hunters in end game :)

I'm looking forward to getting fewer gold whispers. A GM told me in-game that there were some changes to whispering in 2.1 that should improve the situation, though I haven't seen anything in the PTR notes. A GM wouldn't lie to me would they?? The spam situation is out of hand.
The rogue changes should also have me dusting off that toon to get some play in before they nerf it in a future patch.
Madcatt May 1st 2007 7:54AM
I have a 70 holy/prot pally. I am hoping that prior to the patch, the illumination nerf will hit 75% rather than the 60% it sits at on the ptr currently.
Either way, I've started saving up mana/5 gear to take the place of some of the spell crit gear I have... though that gear is only superior... I will certainly be crossing my fingers for the epic pally gear stats to adjust accordingly once the illumination nerf hits.

@12 -
Maybe what's special to you isn't special to others....sorry a huge gaming company isn't catering to "your" wishes.
majintor May 1st 2007 9:05AM
@14 i know which is a shame but i just finished uni and am travelling for a while so its no big deal :)
@18 thats the problem though isnt it - i am the customer so why arent they catering to my needs? the new content imo (note: MY opinion) is boring and alot of it is simply a time sink which is very tough on the casual players - the class tweaks are irratating (constantly searching for a balance that they themselves dont seem to understand) and in some cases poorly thought out (yes i am still pissed about the constant pally nerfing) - kalgen mentions trying to find balance in the pvp arena as a secondary reason for nerfing illumination/pally however imo he lets slip with wow coming out as a new competitive esport blizzards eyes have changed focus and they simply dont care about the casual gamers needs or wants but how other ppl (the outside viewer who will be watching on TV) look at the game and therefore doesnt want the same mix of classes within the pvp arena - this is why i think his (the dev team) judgement is so far off as they have been blinded by the [supposed] money that the wsvg will bring them.
I amnt the only person to feel this way - go check out the pally forums (its not fun reading :( ). I did enjoy the game once but I think once i hit 60 then hit 70 I might have got a burn out which i know is very common and could be affecting my own judgement at this point in time but still I cant see myself paying blizzard any more money for a wow game.
anyway last post from me on the subject,
matt.
